Byss (25th Anniversary patch)

Byss is a planet of urban sprawls, plateau reserves, canyons and lakes, inhabited largely by Humans. Its economy centers on high technology, food and the production of weapons.

Byss is a star system in the 25th Anniversary patch 3.0.9770. It takes the slot that the original game gives to Selonia.

History

Byss served as a base for a merciless military organization, which used the world to build and send out new war machines. Its position made it strategically useful to the group. The organization fortified it so heavily that attack was nearly impossible, and used it to stage several large military campaigns. Because of its military role, the world was kept secret and known to only a few. It stayed central to the group's operations until later developments shifted the distribution of power across the galaxy.

In the game

In the patch's default ("compatible") galaxy the system keeps its slot's sector and map position. The patch calls its sector the Deep Core sector; the original game calls it the Corellian sector. The patch also has an optional "accurate" galaxy that changes map positions only.
