Bakura (25th Anniversary patch)
Bakura is a temperate world of forests, plains, mountains, small seas, rivers and valleys, home to the native Kurtzen alongside Bith, Humans, P'w'ecks and Utai. It trades in medicine, technology, Namana products and strategic metals.
Bakura is a star system in the 25th Anniversary patch 3.0.9770. It takes the slot that the original game gives to Gentes.
History
Bakura, valued for its abundant natural resources, saw a major shift in power after a great galactic event. The Empire strengthened its garrison to hold those resources, which caused friction with the local people. That tightening hold was soon contested by the growing Rebel Alliance, which wished to weaken Imperial rule and win allies across the galaxy. As fighting between Empire and Rebellion grew, Bakurans were caught in between, and both sides engaged in many clashes and political maneuvers for control. Even so, the people proved resilient and flexible, and found means of keeping their distinctive culture and traditions through the disorder.
In the game
In the patch's default ("compatible") galaxy the system keeps its slot's sector and map position. The patch calls its sector the Outer Rim West sector; the original game calls it the Churba sector. The patch also has an optional "accurate" galaxy that changes map positions only.
