I have tried import models from Xwing Alliance to Empire at War and as you can see they run well.

Xwing Alliance can be exported to from OPT format to 3dstudio and next they can be open with 3DMax. Next you only need edit them and add engines, hardpoints, textures and more.

 

Ah Xwing Alliance models have their own textures and you can use them on these model conversion.

Nice that you figured how to do that, but... Wouldn't it be easier to do a new model? Unless you 'really' rig it...

Oh no, I know, it is not perfect but the point was import Xwing Alliance OPT models to Empire at War models, now I want try it with some freighters to add them as neutral ships on maps.

Then, it's SWEET. Always wanted more freighter models to put on maps.  ;D

Maybe you mean, you can take XWA stuff if you have permission.

I haven't even seen any pictures of XWA for a long time I think I have it in my old CD games some where.. The graphics were not that great I thought on that game.

Don't use XWA Models!

 

Use XWAUP models! They're Improved, high-poly versions of the original models and look sooooooooo much better.

Well, you could use them for personal use. and you could give screens to modelers from all angles so modelers can recreate more detailed versions of it and other XWA models .

I will try them, but by the moment I have many problems with textures, the bulkfreighter is crazy me.

And they are to a mod, a free mod, please do not tell me about ilegal things when I have done many mods with things from other games.

If you get the models from XWAUP then, you can just ask them for permission to use them and not have to worry about LucasArts/Totally Games suing you or something, so it being pulled from mod sites. I was saying not to use the base XWA ones since they suck - bad quality : box-like. But some of them are good (some of the fighters are actually decent), but use XWAUP when you can, after all, it IS a modernization project.

XWAUP models are worse, textures are very bad, I like more the original. By the moment I have converted 6 freighters and one cruiser, the Bulk Cruiser (it is not the Bulkwark). I have not done more because the past weekend I had not too free time to it and lately I have been doing some Eviljedi models with more hardpoints and some changes, not as you can see them on other mods, now I have a MC104 with 55 visible hardpoints, missile, torpedo and rocket launchers.

Yes, it is. I will share it when I end the Alliance 1.5 version. Probably on two months, I have been working on it for 10 months, two more is not too time. I have thinking on add some neutral stations to add on maps and to it probably I will need more time.

Sorry but you are a bit wrong, upgrade models can have a better geometry but their textures are very bad to empire at war. I only will import a few of them but they are a secret proyect to the future.

 

By the moment I continue import transports from Xwing Alliance to use them as neutral ships on maps or as you can see here as a new Emperor space transport.

I was referring only to the models. The textures themselves for the most part have to be redone, or at the absolute least (if you're lazy) enhanced with bump-maps.

Reskinning/improving skins much easier than improving model geometry IMHO, since improving model geometry = making your own model lol.

I use original textures and I see very well them.

 

The bump-maps are not neccesary.

The description is on Spanish because I´m Spanish and the mod is to Spanish players.
