I don't know anything, really about editing models. You guys seem to have it down. Will there be a simple replacement program like rebed available for download at any point for guys like me?

 

If not, is there any way than one of you could write a faq that would be easy to follow on the subject? This way anyone, reguardless of formating experience, could change the models.

 

Also, I think that there should be a section resembling the cards section that people could put models that they made into. This combined with an easy to follow faq would make it possible for all of us to us this technique.

 

And believe me ALL of us want to!!!

What they have now, as far as I understand, is an 'editor' which takes *.x models and puts them into the game. Hence, I don't see if the name 'editor' really applies.

Well...that doesn't really answer my question. I see all of you talking about what you are doing but I wouldn't be able to do it myself.

 

When you say "*.x models" I don't know what you are talking about.

 

I'm really not trying to be rude, I just want to get a "how to" from all the model replacing jargen.

.x is the format

kind of like .3ds or .max is for models or .zip is for winZIP files..

somewhere in the model editing section of the forums theere is a link to a site that has the files up for dl, the tutorial to show you how and most the tools

I think we all would like to see the FAQ and downloads in a central location, so we don't have to try and find the link. Since we have a Downloads section, we should use it!

Is it possible to make an Eclipse that has the planet cracking laser? Because that would rock!

im no programmer or anything like that but you would have to mess with the dll's and it would have similar funcyion to the DS but would not be able to use it in tactical situations and have the essd in the tactical gameplay boxerding, however if you just give its turbolasers a lot of power and a slow recharge it would have a similar effect

 

that is my presumed and my simple answer, if all that is possable with the superlaser that would be how it would be. you could have it be outside the box pretty easily but it would be really stupid in my opinion then bc you lose other aspects of the ship

Elvis, I'd love to have this as well, but I think the only way to do this would be replacing the Deathstar picture from the tactical view and so far, that's impossible for me.

I can however make an Eclipse like any other other ship, that can be tweaked like Ricepr suggested.

Let's hope it's on Greg's 'to do' list.
