Just tone down the Shade a bit.  A Lighter Sandy colour for If there are messages and a Blank Canvas if there aren't messages.

Ok I changed the gifs - still I will prefer stellar's but I need their one pixel line contur to use the blue color of the site - and I didn't manage to add it since he changed the color pallente.

Ok - changed that too - we need now just to improve it.

It is to hard to tell which forums have new messages and which one old. Perhaps we should use to different colors. Perhaps blue for new, and just white for old?

I've got a version with an alpha channel cain... as for seeing which are new and not... lets make the old ones grayscale versions.

If we are to implement other colors we need to think that we need to change the hole coloration of the forum.

 

If you guys want to test cool ideeas - do a "Save As" of the main page and then keep changeing gifs in the saved folder until you like how they look on the saved page.

Currently it is white when there is a new post and coloured when there isn't.  It should be the other way round IMO

I agree, I was just confused about this and was coming here to mention the problem.

My thoughts: New threads should have a colored icon.

 

*no* new threads should be a grayscale icon. This is because grayscale represents "old" (black+white tv, photos, etc) whereas color represents new.

 

Make it contrasting enough so people can easily notice change, but not too much so it doesn't stand out from the rest of the forums.
