DeathStar Requirements

Featured Replies

I also imagine using slave labor is a form of psychological dominance.

Also on the EPIII commentary Lucas talks about labor disputes on the Death Star. This could mean a lot of things, but I doubt their would be disputes with droids.

i think that the clone wars showed us one thing

nothing can beat good, natural instinct and force, no matter how many droids you have. think about it, they have to be constantly given energy, have to be cheap, and able to lift enormous weights, which is a paradox, since if they put in solar panels it would be much more costly per droid.

I've have you now - Lord Vader
I don't think a droid could build like a wookie would build. A droid probably couldn't have the strength or power to be able to build a death star. It is different when a droid shoots a gun or messes with a computer.
If you think about it, the whole clone wars was just a test by palpatine to see what works best. Overal living things beat out manufactured droids and human leaders beat out alien leaders. I don't think the emperor had anything against aliens (he did train one and had several of them close in the senate), but human leaders just worked better.

Also, remember that Wookies are naturally adept mechanics! We saw Chewie working on the Falcon all the time.

The wookies have a lot of things going for them: intelligent, good with machines, strong. The problem with droids is that they're not very smart and cant adapt to changing circumstances.

yeah tru they are. they have also been involved in the Construction of the Prototypes and the maw itself, they also work with the GA to unlock the secrets of the Trickster (A Yuuzhan Vong Frigate stolen by JAina from Myrkr and then used in subsequent missions).

Droids have several advantages over living creatures, In fact (just a small sidenote) during most of the Clone Wars the CIS was actually winning the war up until palpatine decided to end it in ROTS. Still dosen't make much sense why they would use wookies over droids. Not to mention you have feed them, provide housing, and find means to motivate slaves. And droids are probably better suited for such things like having tools built into them and whatnot.

@Nevets: I think Gievous was a better tactical leader than anyone else in that time period, and he was an alien...

@Beowulf: No, the CIS were clearly losing the war. From the battle of Geonosis to the slauthering of their leaders it was clear that they would lose. Grievous was a cunning tactician, and so he went for a final crazy attempt to capture Palpatine in the ending stages of the war, knowing that failure would cost them the war, as it did.

Go Leafs go!
lol and they could have used droids but that would require finding someone to produce them and that would leave a paper trail to the Secret Weapon. but if he used wookiees they were taken in such great numbers during the CIviol War that no one would have noticed hundreds go missing.

Sideous had greivous do his stuff, the last attacks by the CIS were'nt desperated attacks. Sideous had it that way so he could rid of the CIS easier. And the CIS were winning the war, republic's forces were spread dangeoursly thin along the galaxy and if you read the RTOS novelization obi-wan even says the CIS are winning

hmmm.. genonosis and kassyk? i'll besure to defend those planets
For the rebelion!

Agreed regarding the CIS winning. The Episode 3 Novelization i thinks the best novelization for any of the movies. it really goe sin depth with the backstories and details about specific people.

The Invasion of Coruscant actually had alot to do with the Labyrinth of Evil book. Palpatine was close to being discovered by the Jedi and was gonna be screwed basiclly. The Invasion gets the jedi off the Hunt and thus lose track of the evidence leading upto palpatine and then finally Makes him look even better as the poor captured chancellor.

As far as death stars go for EAW. I think its kinda neat we gotta have certain Planets to build it. Lucas has More or less Established the geonosians Were the Contractors hired to build the Death Star. All the design stuff has been more or less confirmed with lemelisk helping design etc.

They just have made geonosis go for resources as just contractors wouldnt be enough for the planet requirement.

its not Lucas who have decided that Vasuba its Petroglyph please dont give Lucasarts or GL any Credit for this game the only things GL can be acredited for is the Films and creation of anything Film Related.

(sorry to any fans of GL hes a great guy i just dont think credit for others work should be given to him).

oh I certainly agree with you. What got me excited about this game when i first heard about it was the people they brought in to make it. With The majority of the legens behind Command and Conquer how could this star wars RTS fail.

But lucas in commentaries has said the geonosians were the Death Star Contractors that built it for the Empire since he threw that line in Attack of the Clones.

How could it fail? Certainly through no fault of Petroglyph, but you have to remember that LA is not just the publisher, they are the license holders so they can screw with, inhibit, restrict, etc Petroglyph's genius to ruin.

My Death Star is bigger than your Death Star!

You cant possibly think Palpatine was leading the the Republic, the CIS and planning the next strikes and moves of the CIS at the same time. Grievous was indeed the person behind the brilliant attacks.

The book says that the CIS were winning? Confusing. Palpatine obviously wanted the Republic to win so he could get his hands on Anakin, but why did he continue to use humans as troops for the Empire when he could have started producing droid armies? Why didnt he choose the troops that would have won the Clone Wars without his interference, why did he choose the weaker soldiers?

Go Leafs go!
the humans weren't the weaker troops they were the least numerically but thats all the Droid armies were only stronger because of numbers and the Droids would have cost money and they would have been seen during the Aftermath of the Clone Wars as them becoming the CIS so they had to stick with the Clones then the human army.

Actually the droids were much cheaper than clones. You dont have to clean, feed, facilitate, retire droids. Plus clones needed 10 years to be made while droids came combat ready in about 10 days.

I realize that, they were cheaper and in higher numbers, so they would have won. Anyway, they were the better solution. The "they would have looked like the CIS"-point is good though.

Go Leafs go!
The Droids would of only been for construction and humanoids only for the army so it still would of looked good. Yes so what opinions can hurt but you cant always block yourself from the people living in your controlled area since they can always bring up a hated opinion which you tried to avoid.

The whole abduction of palpatine was palpatine's Idea in the first place.

Grievous would have never even made it to corusant without some access thing/hyperspace pathway/thing that palpatine provided for grievous. Palpatine just outlined the overall stratagey of the CIS and left the details to Dooku and Grievous

Deathstar= gimic.. it wont be that useful.

kids seeing the "Deathstar" in this game will ultimately get more kids to buy the game. Simply the deathstar is a huge marketting scheme
