What happened with the coaches there? They were banned from the field, because of some fight they had, they say? Anybody has any info on that?

It´s said that they had some trouble with the 4th referee outside of the field.

Thursday match, Germany vs. Portugal, was indeed one of the best matches I ever saw of the german team. That was awesome!

 

Today my town is infested with lots of dutch fans wearing an orange t-shirt (their team colour and that of the house of Oranje). Because today its the Netherlands vs. Russia and I hope it won´t be too hard for Russia, because I think that they won´t have the slightest chance.

I like soccer, I just don't like organized sports... if that makes sense. It means that, if I'm with people that like soccer, I like it more, but if I'm on my own, I could really care less. It's a social chameleon thing, I guess.

Yesterdays match "Netherlands vs. Russia" was a real surprise. Of course the dutch team belonged to the favorites of that championship also in my opinion. They just seemed to be the strongest team. And now they have been thrown out of the competition by the russian team which rather had an underdog position with 3:1. Fabulous! But I also feel a bit sad with the dutch fans, because I know some dutch people.

 

After the game was over some riots seemed to take place in Basel and the swiss police called for back up so it seemed that nearly all german police units rushed there. Never saw/heard such a large amount of sirens. In the end it all seemed quite harmless. It was just a couple of frustrated dutch fans who made some trouble, but nothing serious.

It turned out that some of the riots were going on about 200 meters from my house in front of a local bank. Two turkish guys had some trouble with each other and one tried to hurt the other with a broken bottle of vodka. The other guy received various cuts and had to be taken to the hospital. This all had nothing to do with the soccer match which went on before. The russians who live here celebrated their team peacefully.

 

Yesterdays match Italy vs. Spain was rather boring. None of the teams could manage to shoot a goal. So they had to go into the penalties, which means that a player has to shoot at the goal from a distance of 11 meters. The goalkeeper has minimal chances to catch the ball under such circumstances. Each team has to shoot five times vs. the goal. The spanish goalkeeper nonetheless managed to catch two balls, the italian chatched a ball one time and so the match ended with 4:2 for Spain.

I am so happy Italy got kicked out!!!

 

I never forgave them beating the Australian team.

Yeah, tonight is the night.... again. In about half an hour it´s "Germany vs. Turkey". If they loose they´re out and have to go home! If they win they will make it to the final!

Russia has a young and talented team. They definately have a good chance to beat Spain! It´s just a sensation that they made it that far, but to make it even to the final would let the russian peeps totally freak out.

I am SOOO happy Germany won! Even though the Turks played well I am glad they didn't win.

Spain vs. Germany- I found out that would be the case while I was at the Capitol of Florida. Looks like it's all set to be a good match. I'm supporting Germany; admittedly, I wanted Russia for the finals as well, but Spain just plain played better and creamed the Russians.

 

So, yeah, I want Germany to win in the end- where lies everyone else's allegiance? (Eagle need not answer)

Yes! Today is the day of the final challenge! It´s Germany vs. Spain and it will be very hard, because the german teamleader, Micheal Ballack, is supposed to be injured. Nonetheless our team will hopefully play better than the spanish team and so finally win the cup.

Playing versus Russia also would have been an interesting game, but unfortunately it shouldnt happen. But no time for sadness. The russian team never made it to any semi-finals so they can be prowd of what they´ve achieved in that tournament. I´m sure we will see them in two years at the world-cup.

I was working today, and just before I got off a table of 10 came in, just to watch the Euro Cup. So they were there for quite some time, and I got to see a bit of the action.

 

So congrats to Spain for their victory, which pleased my guests and resulted in an awesome tip!

I was disappointed- I missed the ****ing game because my friend didn't get ESPN2 while I was hanging out at his place. So, yeah- congrats to Spain. Maybe next year, Germany, eh?

I know its hard to say something like that, but our team played so bad, they hadn´t deserved to win.

 

I didn´t cared about the whole match that much because one our before the game started I´ve received a telephone call about that my cousin died of a deadly heart-attack. So everything else wasn´t that interesting anymore.
