I gave Dead Rising: Chop Til You Drop a try, and I just could not get into it. It was for the Wii, and from what I understand it has some differences from its X-box predecessor. I think having to fight zombie Poodles and Parrots ruined the game for me.

 

Anyway, looking forward to RE5 next week!

Gotten into Dawn of War 2 over the past couple weeks. I Havent been spending a lot of time on it but it plays well. The campaign maps seem much smaller in scale in this game compared to the first one. This is due mainly to the reduced number of units you have access to. The Force Commander, Tactical squad, Scout squad, Devastator (support weapons) squad, Assault Squad (with jump jets) and later in the game a Dreadnaught. As you get access to all 6 diffrient squads choosing the right ones to deploy on the mission with quickily becomes a difficult issue.

All of the Sergents and the Force Commander level up as you complete missions in Campaign. Choosing what skills to spend points on however can be a bit difficult.

I'm shaking a little bit with anticipation for Resident Evil 5. I may or may not go over to the local game store, beat the owner over the head with a wet fish, and then steal the game away from his cold, dead corpse to go off and play it... 'Course, I'll also have to steal a PS3 and/or an Xbox 360, seeing as I own neither.

 

Benefits of girlfriend: She owns Xbox 360. She is a fan of the Resident Evil series. She even let me play as Chris in the demo, because she prefers Sheva. Boo-ya.

 

And now I'm down to a mere 64 hours until I get some Resident Evil 5 goodness.... *Salivates over some more YouTube videos of gameplay/trailers*

Resident Evil 5 is awesome. I just spent the last six hours or so blasting Los Plagas-infected Africans with my girlfriend.

 

 

... How many guys get to say that? Hee hee hee... awesomeness!

Im jealous. The only video games I can get the misses to play are trivia games, and Animal Crossing...

Oh, it is... but the last boss battle is pretty godawful. Read in black text for the way it goes.

Okay, so the finale boss is (wait for it) Wesker! Only, it's not normal Wesker. Of course it can't be. Normal Wesker just wouldn't work. It's Wesker with his face blackened up and a new special type of virus all over him. Oh, yeah, and a random (charged) piece of electrical bomber jet on his arm.

 

Did I mention that this is in the middle of a pool of lava in a volcano? Or that he can knock you off of the volcano and kill you in one hit? Or that, in the previous level, you had to try to shoot bullet-dodging Wesker about a million times, so that you no longer have any ammo? I had to upgrade my pistol to get any shots, which meant selling my nice bulletproof vest and an empty, now-worthless gun.

 

The stages are non-linear at best for that final battle, and it took three or four tries before I finally even progressed to stage two of about five without getting myself killed (there's nowhere obvious to run- it takes trial and error to figure out where you have to go). Doesn't help that, as I mentioned, we're low on ammo, so we can't shoot super Wesker in his hard-to-hit vulnerable spots all that much.

 

That's the last bit I haven't been able to manage, and other than the last two boss fights with Wesker, the game has been amazing- can't wait to do a replay on normal difficulty. But that last level is just a pain in the arse!

So you two beat the game already? If so, that was pretty fast.

No, we almost beat the game already; still got that last boss battle. We've lots of homework tonight, and tomorrow there's a German Club videogame thing (neither of us are actually in German, but that isn't stopping us from participating), so it'll probably be Wednesday before we finally kill that bugger.

I know the feeling Tofu. I remember when i used to spend hours getting frustrated over some Jet Force Gemini boss.

Just picked up Fallout 3. Its quite awesome so far.

The sad part is, I half don't want to believe that it's an April Fool's Day joke.

 

Same goes for thinkgeek's April Fools page. All of that stuff looks legit. Well, except for the Portal shirts. Those are kind obviously fake. But the Swedish Bacon Squeeze looked like it could be real; same goes for the TaunTaun sleeping bag.

I want a tauntaun sleeping bag!!! Wait a sec... I guess i would look little too campy. Would be impossible to hook up with girls after they see me with that!

I got Resident Evil 5 in from Gamefly, and have been rocking through it. I really enjoy it. The online co-op is a ridiculous amount of fun. My friend and I have been going through it, and are over halfway through now.

Fair warning- that last level will be a pain in the butt. Play it on singleplayer, as Chris, if you want to not have it be a pain.

Yeah, the last level was tough. I did play it single-player.

 

It was a really fun game. I loved being able to play it with my buddy online.
