I don't see what's wrong with people with religious conviction spending money on statues if that's what they want to do Tofu dude! Statues, especially ones inspired by religious conviction have looked great throughout history; simply look at the works of Bernini; he erected perhaps the greatest work of sculpture in history for the Shrine of Saint Teresa of Avila, Memory thinks..

 

Use you vote for your other qualms.

I don't have a vote, yet, and this nation has freedom of religion. I'm not saying 'tear it down right now, it's an abomination which offends me!' I saying that the money could have been spent on a much better cause than an expensive knock-off of an existing statue to look pretty in front of a church.

 

I am, for the record, all for freedom of religion, speech, etc. I don't think that they should be done away with by any means- I just can't say that I believe that was the best way to spend $260,000 when a mere $0.10 can save a child's life in Darfur, or another destitute country.
