The amendment not allowing gay unions is a state matter, for individual state's constitutions. The president has nothing to do with it unless it reaches a federal executive level - something that the Congress and the states have to ratify to become part of the U.S. Consitution. I don't see that happening ever.

Secondly, I don't feel that President Bush is overtly pushing his religious values. He has done very little for the "religious right" and seems to keep a moderate stance. It is only the media that seems to portray him as an extremely religious man - religion is a part of his life. But it doesn't run the presidency any more than other presidents. We certainly won't see the problems like from President Clinton ~ in fact, Clinton references God in more speeches than Bush has. :)

I won't talk on the abortion issue, because that seems to enrage people on both sides.

Good points, E!

Congratulations to President Bush. As for Kerry, I think he took his loss graciously!

Dear Jahled....

And did I ever say you/your girlfriend was going to hell? NO, I DID NOT. God Bless you. And don't asume stuff anymore.

You Make me Sick.

Kaja Out.

I'll assume what ever I want. What I assumed about you you've just brilliantly outlined above. So well done. You deserve your special picture of a fluffy kitten.

That's that.

Catholics, too, have rights to express what they think.

Which includes voting for Kerry in the belief it's 'not a sin.' :|

Aye, he did take it like a man and didnt try to draw this country into another month of election. Thank goodness. Although i wish Kerry could have won, i congratulate Bush for his win.

This really does set up an interesting scenario for 2008 - Hillary Clinton vs a new Republican candidate - who would run?

Rudolf Juliani perhaps?

Yeah, unfortunate result, darn.

2008 Republican Canidates:

Chuck Hagel - Nebraska Senator

Rudolf Guiliani (sp?) - Former Mayor of New York

John McCain - Senator (Nevada?)

Arnold Schwartzenager - (They'll need to ammend the Constitution though) Governor of California

2008 Democratic Canidates:

Hillary Clinton - New York Senator (Run Away!)

John Kerry, again? - Massachusetts Senator

Howard Dean, again? - Vermont Governor (Argh! Ahhhh!)

Anyone else?

My picks...

Chuck Hagel or John McCain I like em both.

Hmmm, it might be a good thing that Texas_Fett can't get on here all of the time, else this topic would become quite heated with is knowledge of politics :D Maybe he'll find some time to drop by and carpet bomb us all into G.W. submission

I read a quote in a book yesterday which isn't to out of place here that made me laugh like a goblin:

'Washington couldn't tell a lie, Nixon couldn't tell the truth, Reagan couldn't tell the difference...'

Didn't read a single post, just looked at the results... It warms my heart to see that Bush would have lost were it up to us... And now I'll let the dead horse die after that brief moment of "I'm not dead yet!" ishness...

I am voting for this man in 2008. Screw politicians in the heart with Jar-Jars' severed limbs.

You know that representatives only serve 2 year terms right? Thus elections are always held on every other year.

We're not talking presidents anymore, are we? Or are we talking presidents of different nations and I missed something?

Thus the question. Our presidents would serve four year terms.
