make sure theres some variety in the shots and dont post boring pics (i.e dont show a corvette on its own, then 2 corvettes, you may think thats variety and possibly exciting but its not) and get rid of all the boxes round ships and the interface (use tab to get rid of boxes round ships and backspace a few times to get rid of the interface)

nice shots krytos, even if they do have the UI in the way, most people don't think the corvettes are worth taking screenshots of so I don't have that many

 

palleon, are you pausing when you take the shots? because they are at very high detail (unless you have a good computer I guess)

 

recommended settings for screenshots

 

1. hit the back space key until all the interface is gone

2. hit tab until all of the overlays are gone

3. alt click a ship to center on (or move the camera to where you want)

4. click away from the ship so it doesn't have its health bars but you are still following

5. if the detail level is at its lowest pause the game and wait for the detail to return, then take the screenshot

6. don't take screenshots extremely close to ships.

7. don't take screenshots of just lens flares

Hey Kracken, are you using a 6800 for a video card? Your laser effects have the nice glow to them that is attributed to that card.

 

No more screens yet. Haven't had time to play.

 

EDIT:Krytos, what map(s) were your screens taken on. The planet is very nice.

Nope. I'm still at the 5700. I plan on upgrading to a 6800 soon or I might just wait till the 512's come out. Also, thanks for the tips on screen shots. I am not used to taking them so I need to get some more practice. I'll make sure to take care of those things next time.

krytos i think i have both, my computers pretty sweet, and some of the shots are paused i think

as a lot of my shots use that style to great effect (well i think that anyway) and done proparly they make star destroyer look mightily impressive, just look at shot 37 to see what i mean.

Thanks, these screenshots are actually pretty old - some are from 0.26c! Back then, I didn't know the key commands to hide the hud etc. which really annoyed me. Oh well, I can always try photochopping them. Most of my screenshots, that I like, are the same sort of thing - showing off the effects of the mod.

Hmm, I can't remember - that pic was one of the early screenshots I took (I think you're talking of the one with the two DSDs) I'll have a look for it on the weekend if I get time.

 

I'll try and post some more later - before then, I'm going to try and get rid of any of the hud, boxes etc. that I can before I post the next pics

heh shots of bugged ships or ships with clipping errors are not good( I really need to import the new exec....), but the other shots are good especially the first one.

ain't seen ya on this forum for a while thrawn, take it your waitin till ya fix your problem or the next version comes out or both.

if you have some really good screenshots the users gallery on the website has a public post, don't post too many, if you want a sub gallery just for your posts (like storys or whatever) I can set that up.

Well, I just got some new drivers, and the game works fine. It would freeze if I tried to zoom in before. I'll have a few screens by the end of today .
