Is it just me who has spotted the irony of a supposedly dead forum, which has produced a 5 page thread debating whether or not it is dead, and what should be done about it. Clearly there is more activity than some slightly pesimistic people seem to think.

well the thing is, there is every suspision that some, perhaps quite senior people within the russian govenment were involved in the death of Litvinenko, I mean, it wasn't exactly a cheap, or crude method of killing someone, to use harmful nuclear radiation from a such a rare source means more than one person was involved. Russia is rapidly recovering from the fall of the soviet union, it may not be a super power as such, but as it controls a great deal of oil and territory, it hardly lacks potential. While China is potentially a more obveious and imminent threat, Russia doesn't seem to be afraid to flex it's muscles. -
It could well be better, but the controls are all different and I've been using PSP for three years now. Then again, I could always just use photoshop as converter, providing I can find my copy. It would still be more convnient to work straight from PSP though.

Thank you very much, Everywhere I tried to look for a MEG editor, the download hade been removed, or the link was broken ect. I just hope I can remember how to use them now, lol. Only thing now I'd like would a a PaintShopPro7 DDS plugin but I won't keep my hopes up.

Yes but I'm unable to get a hold of final big, thwe website's link to it is broken, the same goes for the sudgested meg editor in the tools and tutorials sticky thread. I've also remembered I'll need a DAT editor, but again when I try and download the sudgested one I get a broken link. Could someone provide me with working links to the tools I'll need.

When EAW first came out I changed from modding another game to it straight away. I was around when all the early tools came out and when some of us here were rapidly unlocking stuff in the game. (there must have been about 50 venator mods in the first week after the demo.) I decided that for the meantime I'd mod my old game instead as the model conversion work could be accomplished with simpliar programs than 3dsmax. Because of a hardrive wipe or two since, i no longer have any tools save for max itself. Now however, with the game I used to mod over 5 years old, and my having finally got a copy of Forces of Corruption, I want to have another go at modding EAW again. Thwe thing is, the tools and tutorials thread is a bit outdated, and some of the tools have broken download links and so on. I've searched on this forum, and on EAW files for a basic MEG extractor but very suprisingly I've been unable to find one. While I know full well that you can just download all the necessary XML files, there are plenty of other things that I'd like to look at modding (including getting round to learning how to use my copy of 3dsmax properly). So to cut my babble short...where can i find a working MEG file extractor? Also if there is such a thing, I'd like to find a fully working DDS plugin for PaintShopPro7. If there are any other important tools that I might need then please tell me. I can easily get the model converter and I don't like to mod text files with anything other than wordpad/notepad due to the K.I.S.S principle, but I'd much appreciate any other sudgestions. ps: Like the new theme the forum uses...well new since last I visited, it's probably looked like this for months, lol

Ok I can't get this to work. Can someone point me in the right direction with reguards to a DDS converter that can work for paint shop pro or can convert other files to DDS format, the final requirement is that it actually works.

Have you ever tried using a hex editor on the models to change the texture names it uses? That may have the right effect. I'm not sure it will work but I have heard of nodes/hardpoints ect. being renamed in that way.

I like MajorPayne tried to replace a texture with a tga but it didn't show up ingame, What bit depth ect. should be used?

I am rather poor at land battles so I just use it when I have overwealming odds for the land engagement. It doesn't seem to understand that darthvader and obi-wan kenobi are virtually invinsible.

I don't have any PMs to check for (on this forum anyways, which btw hats off to the guy who chose to use an Simplemachines forum I think they are the best type.) As for Bodins last comment that is a silly argument as people can act far better than that if they choose to, so they have little excuse. However I am not here to have a debate about human nature I get enough of that in my Religious Studies lessons... And to Dragon Shadow, of course those mods may not be stable I have modded enough to know that mods need vigerious bug testing but if the mods aren't stable why don't people post how they got to that stage and others can reach that stage and maybe even help with the bugs. As for those mods I will have a look for them thankyou. But back to the point does anyone have any idea how to fix this problem with the viewer?

I am only relaying my views and the views of others who have felt uncomfortable with the community here. People seem unwilling to work together and most of the discoverys that are made for the game are just shown in screenys just to show off not shared with community, but what do I know? This is only my forth game I have modded and I am only being adviced by someone who has being modding and active in communities for something like 10 years. On a less unplesent note it seems I will have to wait until the converter for 3dsmax becomes avalible before I will be able to view the games unused models for myself.

Well now the link works but it still doesn't work, I have gone though all the information you have provided and none of it details now to fix the problem. Is it that my computer lacks an update to allow the application to work? Or is it something else. I was hoping to model and convert work to EAW fro the community but I am more and more finding that you are unwilling to help anyone with anything and that you are on some big ego trip. If you can help me get this programme to work I would be greatlly appreacaitive.

I use paint shop pro 7 for most graphical work that I do, it is possible to import and export DDS files in and out of Paintshoppro?

OK I have downloaded the programme and placed the files in the game data directory. I start the programme and open a model. I get the list of what I asumme are mesh sections on the left but the main part appears black with no model. What should I do?

wth is that supposed to mean? Is that an insult against my modding. This is the forth game I've modded, I have made a one race mod here but it is still balenced.

it only effects the rebellion at this time but this is my first mod, I only did it to test out some of the things you can do to the game. They get a heaiver calamari cruiser, and a light calamari cruiser that is half way between an assualt frigate and a normal calamari cruiser. All mon cal ships now carry fighters.

Hi, I'm AdmarilRyan and this is my first EAW mod. This mod: Adds the CLASS of ship homeone is as a buildable ship. It is more expensive than the normal moncal cruiser and like it can only be built at capital ship fabrication planets. I then copied this ship, tonned done its weapons and shields and called it the Light Mon Calamari Cruiser. It is a Heavy Frigate like the Assualt Frigate, it has 2 ioncannons, 2 turbolasers and 4 lasercannon batteries. All of the mon cal ships have fighter bays loaded with x-wings and y-wings. They do not have targetable shield generators like homeone did. (I have made the shield generator on homeone non-targetable, it also carries a larger compliment of fighters than the none hero mon cal ships.) I have also adjusted the planet XML, so that mon calamari reduces the cost of all three of the cruisers. I have adjusted the skirmish missions to have the new cruisers and the campaign for the cruisers to be disabled until akbar shows up although these two things are untested.
