The attacking force still has to capture reinforcement points, so they still do have a sort of pop cap. There are units that come with buildings that don't count against your pop cap on the planet you're defending I think, and you have turrents and stuff to help defend too. I bet it is possible for the defender to have reinforcements as well anyway.

Tactics built into EAW? How do we deal w/them?
deriko replied to Teradyn_pff's topic in EAW General Discussion
I bet that the AT-ATs and star destroyers produce the units slowly enough that the rebels would have plenty of time to go attack the AT-AT or Star Destroyer before more are made. As for the rebel's abillity, who said the rebels can use the abillity more than once to a planet, or without waiting a certain space of time, or something else. The Petroglyph people aren't blockheads. -
It is possible that the transports that bring the AT-ATs to the ground is a smaller one inside a bigger transport that has lots of AT-ATs, it's just that the smaller transport brings them down one at a time. As for other groups of units, the transport for those units can drop off just the ones you sent to come down. We don't have to assume that everything in a transport comes out on the ground, some units can stay in the transport. Even if that isn't the case, I'm confident that petroglyph would be smart enough not to make transports too much of a problem. They play games just like us, so I'm sure they would be bugged by it just as much as we would. I don't want to see you guys angry about this because we don't even know how the transports will work. I thought you guys would be smart enough not to criticize what you don't know.

If we had not gotten our hopes up in december, this information would have been normally been recieved gladly.

If Luke turned to the dark side, wouldn't that make the factions unfair. We want the sides to be equal don't we? And how would they put that in the game for some way to have it possible for Luke to turn to the dark side. You can't just have Luke turning on the rebels happen randomly or anything.

A lot of these have perfectly good reasons for them. Like Delphi said earlier, it makes the game bad to have too many units. As for 43 planets, good luck keeping track of that many planets. 43 planets is still amazing to some games that only have a couple maps. And if the units were exactly to scale, it would be impossible to keep track of or even find the smaller ones. Units gaining experience doesn't matter much anyway because a lot of them get destroyed. If you got the AT-ST killing Infantry easily from the short clip on the official site, it was four AT-ST vs. only two infantry guys. It seems only reasonable that they would die after facing four AT-ST.

Probably what happened is some tie bombers got destroyed earlier, so there were only three or four left.

If you guys read the gamespy FAQ, it says that the defender will also have some garrison units on the field from buildings that will not affect your pop cap. It also says that there are other ways to get more units that will not affect your pop cap.

Yes, but only if they were really brave. Would you risk making someone mad so that they might blow up Earth?
-
When the EAW peoples were asked about diplomacy before, they said that your actions will affect neutral planets in to joining you. So I am willing to bet that building a death star would get you a couple neutral planets.

hey guys, if you go to sw-eaw.de link, and go to the 2nd, 5th, and 6th picture, near the bottom right it shows the population cap. and how many spots are taken up. In space it is out of 20, in land out of 10. But in the first picture on the galatic map, it is out of 66, and that might be for just alderaan. What do you guys think?

It could be that Lucasarts is attempting to hit the market with a game available for all computers.....but we should wait for the Recommended requirements. That should "up the ante", so to speak. I bet that the minimum requirments will be ajustable to a higher level, thus making the graphics a lot better. They just wanted to make this game available to lots of people. Delphi also said earlier that the pop cap would not hinder us in any way that we are thinking. Don't go getting angry at things you don't know enough about.

The delay of the realese was to add some major game enhancements to the game. This will probably be worth the extra two weeks we have to wait. They wouldn't delay it and get us mad for some stupid reason. The new enhancements will probably make the game a lot better.

I voted for balance, becuase while realism is great, the game would stink if one side was always better. There would be about no point to the game if you could always win on one side becuase of realism. As much realism as possible is great, but balance should come first. I'm not saying that both sides should be the exact same or anything, but I think that each side need to have their own advantages and disadvantages to make each side have a fighting chance. I would hate this game if it was all on realism.

I bet that once the timer fills up, you get like one squadren. Then the timer starts all over again. Then once it gets filled up again, one more squadren, and so on.

I don't think a droid could build like a wookie would build. A droid probably couldn't have the strength or power to be able to build a death star. It is different when a droid shoots a gun or messes with a computer.
-
I think that while one person would have tons of forces because of all the money they own, the other person would be living off their last couple of forces. If you were taking over all the other planets, the computer would try to defend it with as many units as possible, because it can't afford for you to get even stronger. So assuming you win those planets, the computer would probably be on its last few units.

If you guys go to empireatwar.net, then click on demo, then click on download demo, it tells you what you can do on the demo and tells you you can download the demo for free, except that the link to do it isn't "Activavted".

When Darth Vader does his force push, will it also affect his own troops as well as the rebellions? Will it affect artillary in any way?
-
Welcome. I'm alsmost absoulutly sure that you can not control your units during cinimatic mode. There is no way you could select your units while watching. The EaW people said it is something you might want to do after you know you're going to win, so that probably means you don't have much control over your units. You can switch back in a seconds notice though. As for the recording, I have no idea, but that could be cool.

Can the AI attack you on the galactic map?
deriko replied to Sabu113's topic in EAW General Discussion
I think that once someone attacks, if it's either you or computer, it brings you both to that battle to play out. I'm almost positive the computer can attack you. If they couldn't, there would be no way they could win. -
As long as you don't make him too powerful.
-
While building your forces up and building a "wall", you could start scouting at the same time.
-
I suppose, but we can't honestly think that Vadar can block EVERYTHING that comes his way. If I had a whole army attacking just him, I would expect him to not be able to survive that, because that would be way to unrealistic. I'm just saying, we can't expect him to be invincible or anything.
-
Hey guys, a lot of you were complaining about how Darth Vadar got killed to easily in the video. In the video though, Vadar was getting hit by missles. I don't care how powerful a person he is, but no way can anyone be that strong against missles. That would make it unrealistic. lol
