  1. Hold on, I'm confuzzled. I thought that all sw things are owned by Lucasarts. Their name is on everything starwars, not just games. That is complete BS. Not any writer is accepted, and all even somewhat major plot points are reviewed by people at Lucasarts directly supervised by Lucas. They cant do anything they want, not by a long shot. Yes, Lucas sometimes spits on shoddy EU, but all the works done by authors like Zhan and Stackpole and Allstan have not been contradicted in any way I know of. Read the interview with Lucento at the end of The Unifying Force.
  2. Tsk Tsk ven resurrecting old topics are we? ;D Thats not what respectable posters do here at PFF. Sorry O PFF gods, just had to say that, plz move this at your discretion.
  3. They are low level heroes, on land skirmish they are the first ones availiable (I think). Point is, they funtion well as low level heroes, for instance at that tech level (starting) imps have mara. Rebel tank is the t2b, and the thermal det makes short work of those. Mara's force corrupt ability can also affect inf, which are abundant at that tech level. I think they are only in use in skirmish battles, and I have not seen the Moldy Crow or whatever Mara's ship is in space, so only land skirmish as of now. Too bad.
  4. That would be nice if you had more than one ion/bombers the recharge timer would be decreased. But think of this from a balance perspective. An ion cannon on the ground w/space station and fleets is an impregnible planet, so redundant ions would not be a good idea. However, since bombing runs can be combated with aa, sometimes easily, having multiple bombers in your orbiting fleet should have an impact. W/Imps it would depend on the # of capital ships. @ The talented ROFL, man that was funny. ;D That movie was so NOT scary! Heck, I got more scared during episode 3. That was a good movie though, Im getting the dvd when it comes out. (if its not already out and Im behind the times) :-\ BTW, you must have some vivid dreams!
  5. You dont have the Kotor series yet? IMO they are by far the funnest sw games I have ever played. My collection kinda sucks compared to you guys book wise. I think I only have about 30 books. For games, I dont have any of the old ones like tie figher, but I did have rouge squadren for the N64 and rouge 2 and 3 for the gamecube. Pc I have kotor series, republic commando, lego starwars, Jedi Knight 2, and the battlefronts. @Fosh, yeah that timeline is recent, but I dont think it shows all the sw books of all time, Cause theres only about 50 books listed.
  6. Yeah, with the build spaces limited, you are better off getting another building with other uses.
  7. Yeah xfire does not support its own online thing, it just allows you to connect with servers and such right from xfire. And the whole in game chat thing. That is what xfire means when they say they "support" a game, that the ingame chat and direct server connect work.
  8. I just hope some of the connectivity issues are fixed first. All the bells and whistles, while nice, can wait until the system becomes a little more stable. I spent a half hour trying to start a 2on2 with my friends, and everyone playing has all their settings correct because we have all played before. Yeah, I would like this also. I haven't played an rts without features like ignore and such. Also, balance balance balance. The MP definitely needs more balance. On this issue, however, I have complete confidence that Petro will do something to fix this in future patches. Not so confident about the other issues. ;D
  9. I just try to ignore them. All capital ships concentrate on the enemys cap ships and my tartans go for the bombers/fighters. Yeah, Correlian Corvettes slaughter fighters/bombers, but I just try to get off one volley of torps at the enemy before the corvettes kill them. Its the only way to kill a Nebulon in a Acc vrs. Neb fight. The Ties are just there as distractions, maybe kill some enemy fighters/bombers.
  10. There are 2 ways to see the places you can go from a particular planet. The obvious one is trade routes. The other way is the click on the planet. When you do a circle appears around the planet, and whatever other planets are on the line of the circle or in it can be traveled to from the first planet. http://www.gamespot.com/pc/strategy/starwarsrts/screenindex.html Its the screenie that is the first one in the second row, and the circle is on the top right.
  11. I have the same problem. Anyway, Imps are always my team of choice. But if I was to pick which faction I was better at it would be rebels, I just have better stratagies with them. Well, I think I do, cause I win most of my games as rebel and lose most as Imp. Strange.
  12. Any FPS fans out there? A while back I found out about this mod for HL2 called dystopia. http://www.dystopia-game.com/ Its an MP mod with a kinda "cyberpunk" feel to it. Just look at the corp model on the homepage, youll see what I mean. Well, about the mod: Dystopia is a Half-Life 2 modifcation which places the player into tense combat situations in a high tech world spanned by computer networks. As either Punks or Corp Mercenaries the player will fight through the physical world to gain access, via jack-in terminals, to cyberspace. Cyberspace is a three dimensional representation of the world's network. Inside cyberspace players will launch programs to hack into systems linked to the physical world, fight off enemy hackers or defend critical systems. Gameplay progresses through inter-linked physical and cyberspace objectives, some are completed in either the physical world or cyberspace, others only by a well timed combination of the two. The player will be immersed in action packed battles, whether as a heavily augmented combat mercenary armed to the teeth with the latest in firepower and implants, or a twitch reflex cyberdecker racing to infiltrate a cyberspace node. Only through skillful use of the high tech arsenal we're making available and intelligent team play will players truly jack-in and kick a**. It is really engrossing, as you can see from my xfire profile, Ive played quite a bit of it. ;D Again, this is a HL2 mod, you have to have HL2 to run it. And from the amount of replies to my free DOD:S weekend thread (0) :-\, I doubt that anyone will be interested. This community seems to be totally rts. :'(
  13. I dont have the game yet, but I uh *coughcough* got ahold of it, and all I can say is that it exceeded my expectations by a TON. Unlike alot of people here, I didnt expect much from EAW. I expected a solid rts. Not a big strategy deal like a simulator or a grand strategy thing like rebellion or the like. But an rts like the Aoe series, AoM, the EE series, and the CandC series. And EAW is the perfect game if you are judging it by that standard, which it should be. I havent yet tried MP yet, from what others say it needs work, but I am fully confident it will soon offer the same enjoyable experience that those other rts's I mentioned did. All in all, if you even like somewhat the rtss that I mentioned, this is a MUST get. My CE edition is coming on Wednesday and I cannot wait. ;D
  14. That should have nothing to do with, well, anything. If someones comp is dieing cause of too high settings, that wont effect you in the slightest. It will only be on their end. If they are lagging, that might be the problem.
  15. Its not a must get, but definetly a should get. Especially for those who have been anticipating it for a year.
  16. Dude, Gamespot only gives 9.0's to the BEST of games in that catagory. 8.7 says that EAW is a good, solid game you should get. 9.0's would say it is a MUST get.
  17. They both have the same number and type of guns, 2 turbolasers and 2 laser cannons. The assult frigate has more advanced weapons than the nebulon.
  18. Finally, the gamespot review has been written. http://www.gamespot.com/pc/strategy/starwarsrts/review.html IMO gamespot is the best gaming site on the web, I have never disagreed with their reviews. Certainly higher than I expected, EAW gets an awesome 8.7! I didnt really think EAW would get in the 9.0's, it is just not that "revelutionary" or ground breaking or anything like that. One thing it is, however, is an extremely solid rts. ;D
  19. You should just register on gamespot now and get it over with, best gaming site IMO.
  20. *WOW* ....sigh.... If only I had enough for a semi good aleinware... :'(
  21. I dont know about you guys, but I really like these two. Its really heartening to see Petro following up their game, even though I never doubted them.
  22. Are you guys going to a gamestore to get it? The only gamestores 'round this corner of NJ are a half hour away at teh mall, so I know I wont be getting it on release. Fourchanetly, I have 3 day shipping on my preorder. ;D HA I have this Friday off too!!.....but it will be an EAW-less Friday... :'(
  23. I dont know about any other wars, there probably were, but the Mandalorian Wars happened 4 millenia before the clone wars. How can you not find them??? I am puzzled. Just about every bookstore Ive been in bigger than my room has all or most of the X-wing series. Granted, if you dont live in the US then maybe you might have trouble, but I wouldnt know. You always could order them from amazon if you can get ahold of a cc. EDIT: Nice little action packed story. Clearly inspired by Republic Commando, but thats a good thing. Just one thing, this line: Could not have been more inaccurate. Clones have been in hundreds of live fire and sim training situations. If you like clones and clone wars era stuff, read the Republic Commando book Hard Contact, and the sequal which I cant remember the name of.
  24. Well, the title says it all. If you have steam you can play DOD:S for free this weekend. http://www.steampowered.com/ Feb 10th to the 12th. Ok game, but now Im even happier I didnt buy it. ;D
  25. Thats a joke, right? Battlefront 2 is probably the most casual game I have ever played. It is not even good. Some casual games are actually fun. Battlefront, however, is a different story. It could have come out 2 years ago, has no physics to speak of, and is totally ignorent of SW lore. Seriously, that was a joke, right? If not, you really have to play some more FPS's or even third person shooters.
