Actually ROTS wasnt nominated for many academy awards for other reasons. A true Star Wars fan knows that George Lucas is not a member of the Writers and Directors guild and theirfore his films are usually shunned from the academy awards. This was due to the fact that the guild wouldnt let him display the credits at the end of the movie. If the credits were displayed at the begining it would ruin the text scroll that is trademark to star wars movies. The prequels do indeed have many underlying themes, redemption, corruption, etc. Though many of these themes require a higher understanding of themes in general. Much of Star Wars is based on myths and folklore, so you really have to be well read in order to fully understand the beauty of the Star Wars story. Or of course, you may be a very bright person and in which case you catch on anyways. But yes flames are forbidden.
