  1. Everyone seemed to think the instant repair feature was a bad idea, so im guessing that he dodged the question because repairs ARE instant. There goes the strategy element of the game. Not pre-ordering as originally planned now until I see if this is moddable into the final game. Ehh, now I could see if the game was simply push a button and watch battles, but ehh? the system works really well in the final game, and I stand by the creative director and lead on this one. Honestly, it's not that bad. ???
  2. *DISCLAIMER: I am in no way trying to say you should buy EAW, just thought it was cool to post* ;D My brother just sent me this link, it looks like EB games is also giving away a Death Star Desktop Ball with the game. http://www.ebgames.com/ebx/product/260507.asp
  3. The building taking place is the reinforcement of lost garrison units.
  4. On behalf of Petroglyph, I just wanted to say "thanks" for all the great feedback. We've been taking a lot of note. Thanks again guys!
  5. I think you guys will find the mode refreshing. It's a great break from Campaign mode.
  6. Nothing wrong with Tatooine Agreed, I had a blast making this map.
  7. Yes, and hacking doesn't have anything to do with altering program files at all anyway. Nice... ;D
  8. Well..there are very few original ideas for categories, only original ways to execute said ideas. Indeed...
  9. It's like many features of regular RTSes that you say make them tedious are removed, but the features that are supposed to be there to reinforce the removal are missing. Change is very difficult, so I understand your reaction. It was mine when I initially started playing EAW many months ago. Now, I hope more future RTS games incorporate EAW like features.
  10. I realize you guys are trying to redefine the genre... By no means are we trying to revolutionize the genre, we only wanted to try something new. Can't really fault us for that. Our goal at the end of the day was to just simply make a fun game with new ways to play. We're trying and we will keep trying and improving upon what we have done. Like I said though, feedback is appreciated in all forms so don't think I'm coming down on ya. Your review was well written and well taken. ;D
  11. but in a regular RTS you build units and structures in the same "mode" as the rest of the fighting is going on like in Galactic Battlegrounds. Really, where is the rule book on that? In my entire 10+ years of working on RTS games, no one ever told me we couldn't change the way this works. ;D How do you ever expect things to change, if it is always just regular. How you build in a RTS is up to the developer, the fact that none have tried to improve upon the mechanic and keep feeding RTS fans the same old stuff is the problem.
  12. An RTS with a map mode, without building, but with Star Wars. You, built units didn't ya? You built structures didn't ya? Building is there, it is just in another layer most RTS gamers are not familar with. We did this on purpose to try something new. It takes time to get used, but now I rather perfer it. We could have went with the age old generic mechanic of tactical production, but what is the fun in that. diplomacy, popularity, Shudders at the thought...
  13. This message needs to be deleted ASAP. MODS are totally destroying the game and violators will be punished!!!!! J/K You guys work fast. LOL!
  14. Considering stormtroopers are free from AT-AT's, they have to be worse than the Rebel troopers. It's called balance, people! Heh, how many ATAT's do you really think you're going to have on the battelfield pumping out units? ;D
  15. Nice! That was one of the first reviews for any game that I actually got caught up in. My hats off to the king. Too bad he didn't like the camera. Much like many of the PFF reviews posted, I'll make sure I pass it along to the PG team. Thanks Sonic and C&C King.
  16. They will just fly past eachother in hyperspace.
  17. They didn't speed up building for the demo. Yes we did...
  18. We here at Petroglyph are very interested in hearing your feedback and suggestions after playing the demo/game. Remember that the demo is only a very small slice of Empire at War - there is much more in the final product that we didn't have room to show you in downloadable format. We will be watching all of the fan sites closely, and welcome you all to speak your mind (as long as you can keep it polite and constructive of course). Lastly, lets get another round of questions setup for the end of the week. We hope you have loads of fun! Edit by Cain: Before posting pls. see this: http://pff.swrebellion.com/index.php?topic=1785.0
  19. Can we all just get along. We appreciate the feedback and fans in all of the community forums. There is no need to argue or fight, can we please just fix this and delete threads. If there are issues, please let the mods take it up in private. Thanks
  20. Yep, Yavin is a jungle world. We know it. The original layout had dense trees and foliage, but it was not fun. How did you expect units to move and battles to take place in a jungle? We had to make exceptions. Sure you could mod in more trees, easy. I do agree, we could use more unique tree types though.
  21. Heroes can't be turned off in GC mode. There are certain heroes on the Rebel side needed for tech adv.
  22. You can only turn heroes off in multiplayer.
  23. So, um, how do I get started? Well, the demo will be out in a week or two, so I'm looking forward to your thoughts both positive and negative.
