  1. Yeah i see what u mean. It looks like for every planet u control, there is a little circle, and your factions insigina. Bespin looked like it had none, thus no faction clamed it. As for diplomacy it's becoming increasingly apparent that there is. the rebellion isn't a conquestive oganization by nature. oh at 28:35, notice how there is a bar on bespin? It looks like it's about 1/3 white, and 2/3 dark blue. Perhaps it's like popular support on rebellion. I saw it on every planet
  2. Perhaps there is a structure on the ground like a Factory in that slot. I think i caught another planet when he was moving the mouse over other planets, it was smaller, and it had less slots. Size and type of planet must give bonus to how many structures can be placed. Maybe those 5/6 structures were 1 starbase 4 shipyards? who knows?
  3. That's a very big relief. I just hope bombers arn't made all powerful for taking out hardpoints. They deffinatly should be effective, but not a couple passes and the ship is defenceless. I wanna name my ships as well, gives an amount of attachment to them. I think the space battles will be good. But there could be a lot more from what we've seen. But hey, they're still makin it, so let's keep hoping
  4. Wow how did u pick that out!? Way to go Marcus! It's hard to make out, but does it say 0/6 ground base lvl and 5/6 space station lvl? deffinatly gives some perspective on how slot's and system construction are done

Yo DarthScharnhorst, always nice to have another perspective, welcome It's nice to get your ideas out, isn't it? i usually would just read forums 2, but this game is so intreging, i had to say something lol. Your infrastrcture idea is a good one, makes perfect sence. It would also tie into supply lines idea where in u would need to supply those ships with those resorses and men. I would prefer no unit cap, instead the time it takes to construct capital ships. But that would also mean that they should be able to take a pounding, far more then we've seen in the E3 video
  6. This is a good point, hyperspace routes would have an impact. I did a similar thing as u. In the books it taked about sector fleets, so that's what i did. Each sector had it's own fleet, on top of the fighters that would be on each planet in the sector.

  8. Glad u got the courage to post smikies, glad to have u join us I guess it's true that u would have to adapt to the person who your doing battle with. If they go super fleets, usually the only recorse of action u have is to do the same, or get ravaged. or if they spread out, u have to as well, or get hit from several points. Perhaps we should discuess this also in your military tactic's forum wolf?
  9. But, no matter the population unit cap, the computer and other ppl usually tend to mass units together. Having to protect certain areas, and also building smaller more efficent attack fleets would make far more sence in stoping the construction of super fleets. True that Marcus.
  10. A very good point, one i hope petroglyph takes into consideration. Perhaps setting up holo-net networks on all the planets a player visits with special espionage teams, feeding real time info on info in that system. I believe ppl have touched on bothan and probe droid spy net works, it should be expanded. Supply lines would also be a great idea. u woulnd't foolishly just go muckin around the galaxy with 1 big fleet, when someone with a small attack squad goes around killing supplys and ships fall appart. I like that idea a lot Perhaps even capturing them, bringing supplys back for income or something.
  11. Deffinatly! Winter Assault should be awesome. I guess they're gonna add more single player missions, and another faction, the Imperial Guard. I hear they're worker will be able to fix tanks 4 times faster, and there tanks will be very powerful. Should be interesting
  12. I've been thinking about how in any space based rts or tb stratagy game, there is always the problem of the creation of super fleets. While it's always fun to build massive fleets, there is no stratagy in this other then to have the most ships and shipyards, then purge every planet of life. There's only 1 big battle, then who ever wins wins. I wanna fight till the last system standing personally. My thoughts were that each "choke point" on hyperspace trade routes, would requrire a "garrison" of ships to protect those lanes. If the garison wasnt ment, u would suffer piracy, and income would suffer. As the player expanded, more choke points my come under control. Since this would indicate wealth, the garrison requirements might go up slightly, say to a maximum of requireing sever fighter squads, and perhaps a couple capital ships. I think it would encouage fleets to be spaced out. u wouldn't want to attack one strategic planet with a large fleet, and have the other player choose to abadnon a choke point with his fleet, and run attacks on vonderable systems. Plus there would always be ships around in defence, a back screen, ready to come to the rescue. Conquring would be difficult because the player may have more ships. u couldn't just go on the rampage after 1 battle and win the game. What do u guys think?
  13. The biggest problem i had with AOE series, is the resourse gathering. While the types of resourses make sence, it's the lack of them. The idea that a stone patch might only have 1000 stone in it, u might be able to make some walls and maybe a tower or 2. I liked the idea of Empire Earth minerals, and how in rise of nations u just set up shop on a mountain. If they fixed that, i'd play it more.
  14. Welcome to our forums Executor In regards to your question, it is a very fun game. As for it running on xp, that's a different story. Me personally, mine won't run on my comp anymore. I keep getting 16-bit error messages saying i can't run it. Perhaps my cd is to scratched, i'm not sure. Anyone else here have that problem? My system is a p4 1.7gig 512ram gforce 5500 win xp pro
  15. I see where your goin with that Marcus, a very cool plan. It can be expanded really for any faction. Kinda like imperial fishing. U bait the imps with a couple larger capital ships, and edge near a juicy planet, while u have smaller taskforces of fighters conducting calvery raids on plump ship yards, space stations, ect. We should dub this manuver, "Wolves Fishing manuver" It can go beside the trench fighter formation used on warlord Zinji's SSD and the Ackbar slash, i think it was called? Then i suppose when the time is right, u not only come from 1 hyperspace route, but 1 on each side, with a large group of fighers to suprise the reinforced imperial fleet. Or jump in that system with those bait ships, let off a volly of fire,then jump out, imps might give chace, then your smaller strike force moves in on the wide open defenceless system. I'll have to think more on this
  16. Has anyone here played this RTS game? It's very good. It's like starcraft times 100. The controls and tech trees are similar to star craft making it easy to cross over. The interesting thing about this game is how resourses are gathered. "Strategic points" once captured by infintry, u put bases over them, and u get a certain amount of resourses per second. Power, is the other resourse type generated by power gens. there are 4 races, each with there unique units and abilities. Not the best single player game out there, but does add story. But for the multiplayer, this game would deffinatly be for u. It's based on the Warhammer 40k rules and universe. I'm not typicaly into that, but the game is amazing. The infintry is grouped in squads, which u can reinforce, and equipt with special weapons. All kinds of different tanks, and even summoned creatures and hero's.
  17. Your welcome. And like Arathorn said, there is a trilogy (yup 3) of books by Timathy Zahn. One of the best series of books in the EU. There's a lot about Thrawn in there. That guy was awesome. We also get to learn about Mara Jade, the future wife of Luke Skywalker

  20. AT-AT's are gonna be shooting at stormtroopers? Jk i know what u ment. Deffinatly u'd want a couple of each units, one good for combating another. Perhaps those rebel tanks shooting all those mortars/missles is anti AT-AT, tanks for anti infintry and other tanks and AT-ST's. Definnatly would want diversity. Not just a whole bunch of tanks/at-at's or Stormtrooper/rebel troopers.
  21. I'm similar in my tactic's, setting up a base camp fortfying it enough to withstand attack, then pump out the offence. Perhaps since so many of us are more defencive, it would be prudent to study offencive tecniques. Thoughts Marcus? (_Wolf_) How do u usually expand? Deffinatly words to live by in stratagy games dragonValoo As for quality over quantity, it depends on the game and the races or factions. I'd say both, because sometimes u just wanna rush the opponent to overwhelm them, other times quality of the forces and tactic's are needed.

I kinda understand if they wanna make fighters a bit bigger, if only to make them out during combat. but i feel that could be achieved with that simbol of the figher group, then if u like, u can zoom in on teh combat action plane, and watch the fighters go on runs. but capital ships should be scaled correctly. Those weren't camera angle issues, tnose nebs are way to big. they're only 300m long. mon cal's are 1200m long. Still really good lookin, dont get me wrong. but some sort of scale would b nice
  23. Makes sence. Some species might not take lightly the invasion of an imperial fleet. Where did Talon Karde opperate from? Perhaps if someone attacks his planet, his forces will intervine. Who knows. Maybe if your rebels, u can truce, and eventualy gain control of there ships. part of a planet bonus
  24. Wow, that's really interesting, i'm glad we have u for all our Star Wars history and questions. With that aspect of the force, and the purest of point of views that being there is no dark or light, just preconceptions. Very cool. Thanks man for that interesting info!!
  25. I whole heartly agree. Ground defence consisting of those shield generators, and land based turbolasers, like in ep 5. Then Ion cannons and heavy turbolasers that let vollys into space during a space battle. Power generators must not be that different from the ones on capital ships, construction may take a while, but givin the resources, power shouldn't be too much trouble. If u want more power, u have to upgrade the power plant, taking time and massive amounts of credits. And some limit to the final versions power out put, for ballance. Any idea's on fair numbers of shield gens and space and ground based batteries? For the biggest power generator, I say 1 large ion cannon, 4 heavy turbolaser batteries, maybe 4 quad laser batteries for anti fighter runs. Ground defence would have the shield, maybe 8 medium turbolaser batteries. maybe a couple proton torp launchers as well. Im' not sure how ballanced it'll be, maybe more, maybe less. Thoughts?
