  1. The transports are actual ships you can see in space. So a good tactic I would assume would be to leave the transport behind at a friendly, nearby planet and then bring them to the planet you want to capture ones your forces has delt with any defence orbiting the planet.
  2. No no, I started the missunderstanding. When I said "Not if it's stated it cannot". That's when this whole missunderstanding started. So you're pretty much in the clear here.
  3. Yeah, but the weapons count is based on the 8km lenght fallacy and has not been propperly updated as the true lenght of the Executor has started to finally come out. Warlords is fearsly accurate when it comes to modelling their ships for HW2, but to use the false armament numbers for this craft is only logical as it would crash pretty much any computer if the Executor would fire off all 4000+ guns (and that's just the really heavy ones) in 1 volly. So from a technical standpoint this makes huge sense. Furthermore, when work started on Warlords, there were no propper armament figures to use other than the grossly underestimated values you presented. After all, they can't just make stuff up if they wish the mod to as precise as possible. StarWars.com upgraded the ship to 12.8 back in 1998, but did not think about adjusting the armament numbers. This year, and not too long ago I guess either, StarWars.com has yet again upgraded the Executors lenght to be 12 times as long as an ISD, or 19km long, but this time they did make a small correction on the armament issue. It is still ridicolously small number though for such a huge ship.
  4. Oh, I see what you mean there. We were arguing about 2 different things now. Sorry, my bad. But you get my point still, right? If not, replace the word Acclamator with VSD. And Fosh, yes it would.
  5. Who? You need to be alittle mmore specific than that I'm afraid.
  6. things like this aren't Petro's fault. Its LEC who can't keep track of their own timeline and such. Petro has to go along with what LEC tells them. If LEC tells them things that are wrong (based on their own accounts) then what is Petro to do? Research the facts and shove them in their producers face? Hardly. They could bring in Curtis Saxton as an advisor. I'm sure he would straighten out any inconsitancies.
  7. And I'm simply saying that if, keyword here is if, it is already stated it cannot, then that's that. End of discussion. If then someone comes out and claims it can, then he or she is going to be arrested on that faster than you can say "You shouldn't have said that".
  8. lol, yeah, right. It took anywhere from half a dozen to 2 dozen Mon Cal ships blasting everything they had on the Executor for a good few minutes before the shields failed at 1 place, and you say a couple of fighters has the same amount of firepower as several Mon Cals?
  9. Ok, that makes sense I guess. I can buy that. And it wouldn't really conflict if you claimed it was built by Seinar Fleet Systems (or a co-operation between SFS and another company more experienced with ground based units) either, as Star Wars lore states that the Crawler was the first craft designed and built by the Seinar Army Systems division of the Santhe/Seinar Technologies group, a company (and division for that matter) that still doesn't exist prior to ANH. You would almost have to have this be a SFS design seeing they own the patent on the whole TIE cockpit idea.
  10. Not if it's stated it cannot land. Changing stuff in Star Wars just because it's "cool" is a no-no.
  11. If they put the Executor in and made themselfs the first game company in history to do it justice, then I guarantee you it would be a major un-balancing ship, unless you add in the Bulwark Battlecruiser for the rebellion. At 17-19 km (the most thoroughly measurements suggest 17.6), and bristling with guns, not to mention the shields withstanding 3 imperial star destroyers exiting hyperspace right into it and survive, makes me firmly believe this.
  12. Ah yes, here it is, in this very thread actually. And I quote: "The game ends at the Battle of Yavin" (probably not right at Yavin, mind you ). That just screams timelimit to me. Doesn't it to you aswell? So, I guess I confirmed my own statement rather than having to retract it. I wish it was the latter case though.
  13. Hmm, did I missunderstand it again? I thought I missunderstood it the first time, then I saw it being said by that Petro guy, but now I'm unsure yet again. Let me look around and I'll confirm or retract my statement.
  14. About orbital bombardment: There is an Imperial command code, Base Delta Zero, which pretty much means that the entire planetsurface be bombarded into molten slag. Supposedly, 1 ISD is enough to do the work in a matter of hours. About landing star destroyers: The Victory Class star destroyer is the largest class that is able to enter an atmosphere, but it is incapable to land on the surface. Oceanic landings might be feasible though.
  15. Well, it's not ultimate until you have complete control over it and can take the time it needs to win it. The way it's designed means you will constantly be fighting against the clock to try and crush the Rebellion, or overthrow the Empire. Cause let's face it, if you play as the Empire, you will have to utterly crush the rebellion in order to get peace and order restored to the galaxy. If there are still a spark of the rebel spirit left when the game ends, you have basically failed your task and would be summary executed for failing the Emperor, irrelevant if you control 90 or 95% of the galaxy at the end. Your sole mission given to you by the Emperor, is to crush the Rebel Alliance. If you can't complete it by the time expires, it doesn't matter if the game tells you you've won if there are still a few rebels left. I hope you guys are able to find out how to disable the clock, fast, cause the first thing I want to do is just that. I don't like restraints in an RTS, that's why I think Rebellion still is one of the best (ok, the best ) Star Wars RTS ever created. Grafics and some missing elements such as ground battles left much to be desired, yes, but still.
  16. I picked option #3. But I must say, I'm surprised if the Carrack Cruiser is not in (we haven't gotten the full list yet, right? ), and with all the ship designs in this time, I don't see much need any longer to introduce more ship designs in this timeperiod as it is. The more designs that are introduced, the harder it gets to justify it, create it's backstory convincingly. Why was it needed, what sparked the idea, who created it, what purpose does it serve, etc.... these kind of questions. Thinking mostly about the Broadside (please come up with a propper name for it it's a very descriptive nickname though ) And believe me, Star Wars people are very scrutinous about such things. They don't take too lightly on the whole Star Wars universe and don't swallow stuff raw. They need a good reason if new things are added. I should know. So, having said that, I keep hearing the words "Star Wars lore" being brought up. How then do you justify the inclusion of the Century Tank (also nicknamed the TIE Tank and TIE Crawler), which was produced for the first time in the period following the Battle of Endor? If there is a place where new design is welcomed, because it's a much needed addition due to the lack of unit types, it is ground forces, in particulary tanks.
  17. Actually, Vader used a prototype TIE, called the Advanced X-1, which is very similar to the later finished product, also referred to as the TIE Avenger (a nick name that the Imperials labeled it with and it stuck), but at the same time it's not 100% identical. another fighter that was born from the research on the X-1 was the TIE Interceptor. As for the Death Star II, why on Coruscant would you want a half-finished Death Star floating around? A finished DS II would look almost identical to the first DS, only much (much much much) larger. The SSD doesn't have to be in. And the number 1 reason it doesn't have to be in has nothing to do about when it was introduced, but that it is a very powerfull ship. With around 616 heavy turret batteries (each batteri having 8 guns, totaling to 4928 guns) alone, where a glansing hit from a bolt is enough to destroy a fighter, just screams overpowered.
  18. No, it seems I missunderstood. The Tech Tree doesn't go further than up to ANH, plus a few extra units from right after, minus the SSD obviously. Possibly no Lancer Frigate too.
  19. Remember, there might be another reason why they stuck a Rancor on Tatooine. They did indicate they are under the impression that it's indigenous to Tatooine. Krayt Dragons are indigenous to Tatooine, Rancors are indigenous to Dathomir. I hope you're right though, DMUK. Even SWG got this fact right.
  20. Don't forget to mod in the ISD mkII. It came into play even later than the Executor class.
  21. I've been on the track, I know what's going on there. They drive like maniacs there, testing everything about the cars stability, brakes, etc.... Yeah, sure, it might get boring after awhile, but it's still a dream job.
  22. Well, since the SSD is out, I guess we can write off the ISD mkII aswell, since that one is an even later design change than the Executor. Atleast a year BBY.
  23. But the timeperiod ends at ANH, didn't you read what the developer said? This game sorta took a nosedive in interest for me now. (No, not because of the Executor class not being in, but because we only get to play 3 years. You know, up to ANH)
  24. I really don't get why this is such a hush-hush topic all of a sudden. If Petroglyph has asked you guys to keep the chatter about the SSD down to a minimum I can understand you. If that supposed mail was thought to be confidential, then the guys that are making the Legacy of War Mod did, in my mind, a no-no. But then you have this quote from Foshjedi2004: Now, if it's been already confirmed, both in mails to Legacy of War, and several other sources, plus there's a picture of an SSD in some old mag, then why all the hush-hush all of a sudden? And not only is it a hush-hush topic, it's also been bumped down, appearantly, from confirmed to "rumor". Notice how "rumor" is almost always typed with quotation marks? Why is that? Anyway, if you guys want this to still be a rumor, don't feed people with such comments as "Sorry but we cannot disclose the E-mail as it has the address of the Petroglyph Offices on it". As a Mod for several years now, and been on the net for even longer, I've been in my share of arguments. That's a highly flamable comment to give. My personal advice is: Pick your words carefully. Analyze everything you are about to post, scrutinize it and poke holes in it to make sure it's water proof, that you can't be arrested on anything or your post backfire. Sure, leave some hot material they (the debaters on the other end) can throw themself over, trying to win the debate or catch you in a lie or whatever, but turns out to be a trap laid by you. But be absolutely 100% sure that the trap is waterproof before you do such a risky move. Anyway, I'm rambling. In this case, this is how the reply to the request to show the mail should have looked like: Get it? Absolutely nothing. If you want it to be secretive, don't add more fuel to the fire, and then lock the thread a few posts later. Some things arn't ment for the public to see sometimes. Now, bottom line is, we all make mistakes from time to time. Lord knows, I've done mine up the years, and I most likely are going to make new ones as time goes by. Personally, without knowing the full details here, I don't see this as a very huge mistake.
  25. Test driver at Mercedes Benz in Stuttgart. Man, that's a fun ride. The 90 degree turn is just hilarious.
