  1. I've noticed that people have been able to edit some units' and planets' encyclopedia explanations. What XML file/s are they located in?
  2. No, that's not true at all. 0 There is a 0% increase in bombing run recharge time per every extra Star Destroyer/Y-Wing you have in orbit. In other words, having extra bombers in orbit has no effect. Sorry! ;D
  3. I'd like to mod this ability... DEPLOY_TROOPERS 20 Veers_Deployed_Imperial_Stormtrooper_Squad 2 B_Trooper_00, B_Trooper_01, B_Trooper_02 Unit_Deploy_AT_AT ...in order to make it so that you can only deploy those 2 Stormtrooper companies once per battle. I can't find anything here, so am I missing something? What must I do?
  4. I know that Legacy of War is doing some work with the AI, particularly when it comes to fleet compositions. Yeah, the Rebels do get a little Corvette-happy, don't they.
  5. Heh...I knew something was fishy when LucasArts looked like it was trying to finish an uncompleted game.
  6. New maps and a few token units that should have been there in the first release. As if they stand a chance against Legacy of War... Edit: Ach, I try not to be so cynical. But really, how are they going to successfully implement the Executor? The space maps are abysmally small! You can't have a fleet of regular ISDs without the enemy coming into firing range the second you exit from hyperspace, let alone one ship that's supposed to be 11 times the size of them. :-\ So unless they're planning to be real radical and drastically increase the size of every space map (which I highly doubt), they're probably going to do a really lame scaling job. Either the SSD will be twice the size of an Imperator, or they'll downscale everything to make the SSD look big by comparison...which will make TIE Fighters close to unselectable. Joy.
  7. How would I mod it so that when a smuggler is taking credits from a planet, the enemy can't see the obvious credit-stealing sign next to the planet? I'd like the enemy to have to look around and have to keep investigating his economy in order to find my smugglers.
  8. The standard way to remove the fog of war is obviously to increase unit sight range. However, I'm also trying to add unit stealth. And you obviously can't have that when every unit's sight range is 5000+. : Is there another way to remove the fog of war in all cases? Thanks.
  9. That's what I meant: campaign_singleplayer.xml works just fine, but I'm having problems with campaign_main.xml because the Imperial section is incomplete. And like I said, I'm also looking for a way to do away with the fog of war that doesn't involve increasing units' sight ranges.
  10. Thanks, that helped. I can find everything I was looking for, in terms of cantinas and such for Galactic Conquest. Unfortunately, I'm not having so much luck with the main campaign. In campaigns_main.xml, I can find the Rebel planets just fine, but I find nothing under the Imperial section. The Imperial section just looks incomplete. I can't do anything with it, let alone change which planets can build cantinas or hutt palaces. As for fog of war on particular planets (or all planets, for that matter), I'm still pretty clueless.
  11. I've got a couple questions: 1. I know that Hutt Palaces and Cantinas are particular to only a few planets (Nal Hutta, Tatooine, etc), but in specialstructures.xml, it says nothing under "planetary requirements." Where would I have to change it to make Hutt Palaces and Cantinas buildable on say, Dantooine? 2. How do I remove the fog of war for a particular planet's space map and ground map? I know for example that the Imperial campaign has a ground Thyferra map with no fog of war. I've looked in planets.xml and I'm not sure if anything does it.
  12. I think what all the smart, devoted people are crying about (I sure am) is the lack of a diplomacy system. And by diplomacy, I don't simply mean swaying planets to your cause by means of a diplomat. I mean an actual system of popular support, where your actions across the galaxy have ramifications that you must account for. Blowing up a planet with the Death Star should either increase your planets' loyalty to you (out of fear), increase loyalty to the Rebellion on your or other planets (due to well...the monstrosity of your actions), or perhaps both in a limited way. Invading a planet and destroying all of the civilian buildings should make that planet even more loathe to support you, and perhaps even negatively influence nearby systems. Stuff like that! Have some depth, God forbid! It would make this game more than a mindless BFME equivalent where you land grab, rush your opponent, and somehow keep ressurecting your immortal heroes. :-\
  13. Throw them to the Rancors. >
  14. http://legacy.gamemod.net/index.php ???
  15. Do you mind if I quote you on Legacy of War, Teradyn? Because I've been thinking a very similar thing, myself about fighters.
  16. Do the Rebels still need to win the space battle before any of the fighters can attack the Death Star?
  17. I have vanilla EaW, and the only modding I really do is changing some of the XML stats on some units. However, I've heard of some people having crashes when they upgraded to version 1.03, because they had modded and been unable to change their files back to default settings. I also want to install Legacy of War when that comes out. If I just waited until it was released, then could I just upgrade to the latest version (without worrying about crashes) and then install Legacy of War? Or am I missing a step?
  18. I can imagine that there are. Just nerf the hell out of Corvettes. And missile ships too, considering that they can whomp the hell out of fighters for some strange reason.
  19. I'm curious, did the 1.03 patch solve any of the issues with the Battlecam? Specifically in ground battles, where it zooms in on individual units too closely, rather than occasionally zooming out for better shots of the overall action?
  20. No, he's right. Due to the obscenely powerful Corvettes (including the Imperial Tartans) in this game, there really is no use for non-bomber fighter craft.
  21. In general, one problem the Battlecam has is that it zooms in far too much on individual units...often point blank! While this is less so in space, I've found it's almost always on land battles. There are hardly ever any scenes in which I see my whole Imperial walker legion zoomed out, real purdy. It's always some ultra-close shots of my units, and it looks just plain silly when they're in a firefight. Let's see some diversity in the next patch! Bomber strikes are also kind of jerky too, when they're done with the Battlecam.

    Your best win!

I had taken Carida a little while earlier (playing Rebel campaign, hard), and almost forgot it was there. Big mistake. Unbeknownst to me, a hugeass ISD-heavy fleet came into orbit, and launched a legion onto my newfound planet. It was 2 AT-ATs, 3 SPMA-Ts, 3 TIE Maulers, 2 AT-STs, and 5 (really 10, not counting the ones from the AT-ATs) Stormtrooper groups. My defense? One unit of T2-B hover tanks. No buildings or defensive structures of any kind. Thankfully though, Carida has lots of open water that no other unit - other than hover craft - can use, and use it I did! Liberally! I hit and run their scattered units, first taking out the Maulers, picking off Stormtroopers, and running point blank to the SPMA-Ts (they can't hit you with their artillery then, only their dinky little point lasers) to take them all out one by one, retreating to the ocean when my shields were starting to fail. "Hahh, 5 little tanks taking on the Empire," I thought. I was presumptuous. I forgot that there were Star Destroyers in orbit. The first TIE Bomber wave came and took me completely by surprise, instantly killing 2 of my 5 T2-B tanks. Let's just say that whenever I heard that familiar whine of twin ion engines, I bolted my tanks across the other side of the water!! Anyhow, most of the enemy was defeated. But what to do about those AT-ATs? Thankfully, they were on different "continents," so taking them both out was possible. I lured away their spawned Stormtroopers and carefully made sure not to kill them all off (in other words, I left them each with 1 trooper a company, so that they wouldn't pose a threat should they come back, but the AT-ATs couldn't respawn new ones). I took on the first AT-AT, and over the course of 35-40 minutes, finally hit and ran it to the ground. That was very satisfying. ;D I was luckier with the second one. Although it killed one of my tanks (leaving me with only two!), there was a Rancor cave on his landmass. I lured the Rancor to the AT-AT by firing on it to piss it off, and then by retreating only so far away as to still be seen by him. I did this with one tank while the other did the same to the AT-AT. The AT-AT didn't last too long, either. After that, the fog of war went away and I mopped up the 3 or 4 individual Stormtroopers that were left over. Aint I a stinker?
  23. Or, you can just act like the computer and do nothing but mass a shitload of Corvettes. Your auto-resolve will probably work!
  24. Is there a file in which I can edit what units emerge from garrison? I want to make it so that the Rebel Heavy Factory (I think that's the one) doesn't automatically produce MPTL Artillery as a garrison unit. That artillery is such a bitch. So unbalanced. > Secondly, how do I make a weapon more effective against other units? For example, Star Destroyers and AT-STs. I've made my Star Destroyers' guns much more accurate against Corvettes, but they still do pathetic damage in comparison with what they do to frigates. I've tried editing stuff in projectiles.xml, but I've seen no change. What would I have to change to make Star Destroyer turbolasers equally effective against Corvettes? As for the AT-STs, they're not really good for anything! I'd really like to make them effective against infantry like TIE Maulers, and I've played around with some stuff in projectiles.xml, but again, no result. What would I have to change here? Thanks.
  25. They already were in the Data/XML/Data folder...I extracted the files with Dante's extractor onto my desktop, opened up each file with notepad, edited away, then saved. No effect in the game.
