Well my comment was aiming for a epic strategy game, not a combat simulator (Though I do enjoy a good combat simulator, where is a Tie Fighter: Empire already!)

I can't speak for any of the gameplay designs. For the minidumps, did you try turning off anti-aliasing? On the Caedus arc, I'm guessing you mean the Legacy of the Force novels. If you liked the more darker, adult environment that NJO started, you would like Legacy. If you didn't like NJO, you definitely wouldn't like Legacy.

Ashoka is actually one of my favorite characters. I wish they would have brought her in more subtlety in other works (pretty sure she's dead after the Clone Wars lol), but given the way they were ramping up the Jedi army, Anakin without an apprentice wouldn't have made much sense. She makes a good foil for Anakin, she's impulsive and smart - and holds her own to Anakin's "brute force" techniques. Brings a little more complexity than the emotion-drivel Vader we see later. Some of it is just silly (anything with Jar Jar). It is a kids show mostly, but some episodes show more depth and really flesh out the Kenobi-Anakin-Ashoka relationship. I generally enjoy the ones they bring in Dooku and Palpatine's manipulations too. I expect it depends on who the writer is. I definitely enjoy more of the later seasons. I wouldn't dismiss it off hand as a kids cartoon, otherwise you'd miss some cool stuff. (Not the amazing level as Avatar: The Last Airbender tv series, but I feel the same way about it)

Ya mmm we're outta faction slots. Plus we use tons of resources already. We use the major military factions, miltary warships - the CSA would not really fit in. The New Republic is generally represented in the timeline fighting the Yuuzhan Vong. The Imperial Remnant would have been a much smaller force here - not totally distinct from the Galactic Empire given the limited war production capabilities.

Are you playing multiplayer with those who don't have the 1.1 patch? AFAIK that was the only change with the patch. I'd expect 1.0 not to work, so surprising you are seeing crashes with 1.1.

The TIE Avenger would have been the production model - it was much more expensive and rarely deployed. Zaarin ended up destroying most of the production factories for it. The TIE Defender is similar, it was well equipped to fight Rebel starfighters but also very expensive.

TIE Advanced were a limited prototype ship, they were not mass produced. Given the limited number of fighters slots, we really couldn't fit them in.

It follows the standard mythical hero narrative, but I totally enjoy the characters. He puts a spin on the main characters every time. I wouldn't say its too out-there like Game of Thrones, but it's just really good mainstream fantasy.

If fantasy is your thing: Terry Brooks's Shannara series is amazing

Honestly, as much as I loved the game, I am an interface fanatic now. I think the dependency on the windowed GUI makes the game a pain to play. Give me a true modern 3D interface like Sins (with characters, diplomacy, missions) and I'll be sold.

I don't know if Dawn of the Jedi is much an origin story as it is a pre-pre-prequel story. There are obviously Jedi - force users - and there is the "evil" Empire - the Rakata.
