  1. heh, if you guys really really truly want to mix up the star wars universe and the HW2 universe...like if somehow a fighter facility got trapped in a warmhole, ended up in the HW2 universe, and decided to claim it for themselves!! mwah ha haaa........ anyway, be either imp or rebel and play against at least 4-5 other computers on expert. Simply because, the Star Wars ships outrange, outgun, outshield, and out manuever the HW2 ships....the only thing you can have left are numbers . And actually, I did try to go against a hard alliance computer where they couldn't build past the ROTJ era, and I was Hiigaran with 3 other allies. Needless to say, it was a very long and excrusiating game, but I did find out that as long as you're not hit with ion blasts....and the computer attacks your ally instead of you...you can do alright. By trying my best to stick to battlecruisers and ion and toropedo frigates for the enemy capital ships, I actually brought down a few MC's, along with a Bulwark Battlecruiser. Also...anything less than a destroyer can't really match the firepower of a battlecruiser anyway....though the only bad thing is that any ship below a destroyer can outrun your torpedoes as well food for thought
  2. I was messing around with the game options in player vs cpu, and I noticed that you can start with an "Endor" fleet. I tried this out and wow....it was definitely a good fight. The Empire starts out with the executor and a lot of ISD and ISD II's, as well as more than 100 tie fighters and interceptors. As for the rebellion, they have a large cruiser as well, and it's one I haven't been able to build yet, called "The Independance". Just seeing this thing made me fall in love with it instantly, but I have yet to play a game where I have the option to build this wonder. Does anybody know what I'm talking about?
  3. ...is anybody going to reply to these forums anymore?
  4. hey yeah, I was noticing that too. There is the option to have just clone war ships, but I actually haven't seen that many. And I'm not sure how you're going to handle that, because the sides back then were actually reversed, and it was the Empire versus....I'm not really sure you could call them the rebellion, but it was against the droid armies. Anyway, just wondering what you're gonna do about that as well
  5. Hey, for all those that want to reply, I've been playing this mod for a while, and I'm getting kinda tired of playing a few maps with the same layout and everything, so I was just wondering how exactly you go about making your own map. I also heard that some third party maps don't work, so if anybody could point me in the right direction (i.e another thread explaining this, a place with directions, etc) I kinda want to try it out. Thanks for your time
  6. remove the value of attack the ship has? o.O....that doesn't sound good, if he was we'd need a really good system to compare ships when we build them.
  7. they were definitely armed, they used them in the battle of endor. Probably heavily modified though, but if anything it could be a breaching ship? possibly? Granted they are pretty big, but yeah, resupply, healing, any of those would work for it too
  8. oh yeah, by the way, just wondering if those medium transport ships are gonna be put in. You know, the ones that transported the people off of hoth. oval shaped with two grey hulls on either side? Just wondering if that's going in anywhere
  9. Yeah, I think they say they're shield generators, but I think I'm gonna side with eville on this one and say they have now gotten smarter and built those things inside of the hull where they are protected, and replaced the domes as sensors. Honestly, what british genius (cuz the empire are all british) came up with the idea to put the most important, lifesaving part of the ship in the easiest and least defended position, I ask you who.
  10. actually, the only time I've noticed VSI's fire a salvo of rockets is when I was fighting against them. I've built them a lot as the empire, and I still have yet to see a cloud of torpedoes coming from that thing. Actually...I think selected it and pressed 'z' and it came up with the salvo cursor, maybe I'm thinking of something else but if that's the case....then it seems like it can only fire once (since there's nothing that a Destroyer can dock to)
  11. Eh, I'm not really favorable towards that "ship" addition (not sure whether you can call it a ship or a platform with hyperdrive). It's just kind of a box with four legs that can apparently shoot lasers from....somewhere. Oh yeah, and it can harvest. I'm sorry to bring a negative light to this creation, but it's just kinda big, clunky, and hard to look at. I haven't really read many of the star wars books, so I only knew about this thing after reading the previous threads. I know it's probably going to stay in there as a buildable ship, so if I have a problem with it, I'll just not build it. But still......I mean come on, it's a floating shoebox that launches torpedoes and fires lasers out of god knows where...is that really that necissary?
  12. yeah, I can see where you're going there. I don't know how many times I got frustrated at my destroyers for taking so freaking long trying to manuever around the shipyard, and not getting anywhere. And then I just have to give them waypoints around so they can get out. But still...I kinda like it the way it is. I like being able to put my cruiser shipyard in the back, or wherever else I want it. Actually, what I want is the ability to set up a fighter shipyard way out from my original one without having to wait all day for it to move there. Perhaps there's room in the game for a compacted and mobile version of the fighter yard to be flown to where you want it and "unpacked"? or perhaps a mobile construction facility to construct.....construction facilities? lol, I don't know, just a thought. (and by the way, just wondering what the "world devastator" is, exactly. I don't really get it)
  13. um....yeah...I curse...what he said! *shakes his fist*
  14. well, yeah that's definitely the case. Though with Ender and Byss you can see constillations and the planet in the background. The one's that are different are the ones without the picture...you know...of the same map over and over. Those other ones are actually pretty interesting, and I have seen screenshots of a map with the deathstar in the middle. I think also that those maps might be temporary until they design new ones? I'm not sure, but I actually might try out the map creation tool not too long from now.
  15. *shakes his fist at sierra* I curse thy name
  16. ah ok, well shoot that kinda sucks. So there's like, no way to tell the spacecraft to move like...50 km in the direction of the jump and then jump? Because that way it'd look like they are positioning themselves like they would be in the normal star wars universe, and would add more importance to fighters being stored in the hangers. If the answer's no, then oh well, it's still a kickass mod without those things.
  17. awesome, thanks guys
  18. this is true, but I'm still concerned with the Empire not being able to build anything after like 8 tie squads, I'm not joking when I say it just stops completely. They still collect resources, they still have 3 fighter factories, just nothing is spewing out. Just kinda curious...is anybody else having this problem?
  19. Well for some reason, for me, whenever I set the computer to Empire, they don't even upgrade their fighters. They build all tie fighters for about...the most I've seen it was 10 squads to come attack me like it normally does. But I notice that it does not build anymore reinforcements like I'm use to the AI doing. Then, after I kill off those fighters, I could destroy an Expert computer within 5 minutes of the game. And no, unfortunately, I'm just not that good. However, The Alliance AI seems alright....other than the fact they build a lot slower then I thought they did. I had to hold off from building my armada for about 3-5 minutes just so I would have a challenge later on. But now it seems it's building alright...I still say it's slower than it normally builds though. I've tried changing around a lot of settings, changing the maps, even reinstalling the patch. Perhaps I just need to reinstall the whole game alltogether, I don't know. -Help
  20. Is anybody else having issues with the computer AI in the new patch? For instance, when I'm the Alliance vs. an expert or hard computer, the computer barely builds anything. On Expert, 10 minutes into the match, all it has built are 6 tie fighter squadrons. On Hard it made a little more progress, to having 3 fighter factories, but only 5 tie squadrons. I'm...a little stumped, does anybody know what's going on?

  22. ah, alright. yeah I figured it'd be about impossible to implement any other agression system. And thanks for the rally point thing, I don't know how I missed that in the game, but oh well. I think I just have one more thing to add though, or rather a question to ask: The time it takes to hyperspace, are you going to make it so larger ships take longer to initiate hyperspace then say, fighters, or are you going to leave it as is?
  23. First of all, I would like to congradulate the creators of this mod on their very fine work on being able to almost perfectly (because it's still in beta) replicate the star wars universe. I have to say, this game mod is far more enjoyable to play, even in the beta, then any other star wars game right now. I am anxiously waiting the next patch so as to maybe try out a few more ships that are still being worked on, and for functional shields and weapons on others so that I can use them in battle. With that said now, there was something I was wondering. If this has already been addressed in another thread I appologize, but the issues I have are this: 1) Should the empire really be allowed to construct corellion and nebula star ships? (also, the empire seems to be the only one that can build the nebula 2 frigate). I thought those lines of ships were exclusively for the rebellion? Not that the empire couldn't build those if they really wanted, but for sake of ballancing issues, since those ships are effective, fast, and fairly cheap to build ships, that they should be exclussively for the republic. If you remember back in the game "Star Wars Rebellion", this was the situation, since the empire had ships that were equal to the correllion ships. 2) I love playing with the MC80's, but when I get enough research, the whole line practically becomes outdated and overpriced compared to the star destroyers the republic has. I think it needs a little price tweaking. 3) The Golan III platform is handy (cept for the fact in this version it has no shields) and the other platform the republic has is also very handy indeed, but I was wondering if perhaps those platforms could use some more turbolaser turrets? and perhaps a little price tweaking as well (making them more expensive, but also more useful and stronger) 4) If there is a way to do this, I say let there be a way to designate where you want something to build. I realize the homeworld 2 game engine never had this feature, and it's not like there is a terrible need for that, but I like being organized. 5) Last thing I swear... there is this issue I'm having with the aggression of my ships. Lets say my fighter factory builds something, and there are enemy units nearby. The finished product will want to take on the entire empire armada by itself. I find this to be hilarious at first, then ultimately very frustrating since my fighters and resources go to waste. Also, if I try retreating, even on defensive aggression, if not commanded to go to a certain spot over and over again, they will turn and try to attack again. I have to put them on passive, which I think makes it so they don't fire back with their full force...I'm not sure, but I think defensive aggression should be set so the ships return fire, but follow any previous move order given to them until they reach their destination, or actually, just have it so the larger ships don't move on their own, and the fighters don't stray too far from their position (since fighters need to move to fight and stay alive) That's it, sorry for the long post, hopefully if someone reads it, it might help out a bit. again, great job on the mod, keep it coming
