Hey wow!! I'm a Corporal already!!!! ( at least I've risen to the dizzy heights of leadership I once attained in real life!!!
-
Does anybody now how much each successive planet has that comes over to your side has on i) other planets in the system & ii) how much effect it has on the diplomat who caused the 'slide' ? What I'm talking of here is early in the game when a diplomatic effort in a sector causes several planets in that sector to come over to your side. Any ideas? I've looked on the Forum but could'nt find anything ( I may have missed it !! ), and the rule book is rather vague on the whole subject.

I think you have got to revert to the old fashioned steam powered method of just sabotaging them with your Imperial Commando's if you dont want to send a fleet
-
Another useful tactic is to have a few squads of Imperial commandos lying around, so if one of your planets is assaulted and taken, sabotage those enemy troops and hey presto the planet goes into uprising ( as long as its loyalty is high...something you would have already sorted with your diplomats!!) and now the Rebel player is in trouble. Does he continue to send troops there??? Does he leave his fleet over the planet ready to be blown to pieces by the Empires Imperial Commando's?? As long as you keep up those sabotage missions the planet will revert back to your control with an added domino effect of +loyalty on all the other planets in the sector!!! Goodbye Rebel Scum!!! Use the bombard facility carefully. Only bombard those weakly defended Rebel planets in wholly Rebel Sectors, because you dont care about their loyalty anyway. The Domino effect in the game can be a powerful tool in grabbing planets or reverting them to neutrality......ready of course for Piett, Darth ('I have altered the deal....Pray I dont alter it further' ) and all the rest to show them the error of their ways and convert to the Empires cause...... because the Empire brings many benefits to its subjects!!!!

I throw myself at the feet of Beak to beg his forgiveness in misunderstanding the tone of his first comments Anyway thanks for that mini Latin lesson, I must brush up on it, getting rusty in my old age. I hope one day this miserable wretch of a cadet will lock light sabres with SOCL in a great game of Rebellion!!!!
-
I stand corrected !!! Chris
-
I cannot see why it should be considered bad form to scrap facilities to stop them falling into enemy hands. After all the attacking player achieves destruction of enemy facilities for no cost, while the defender salvages something from a lost cause. Also the attacker always has the option of bombarding as has already been suggested . Alls fair in war. Just my two ha'penny worth!!!

Thanks Evader99 for your help. I should have read your note vis the RebEd problem more closely instead of pressing every available button that came to hand!!!!!! I've got Rebellion running fine now and have some great games going with opponents over the Internet. The game really does come into its own against a human opponent. Who knows, perhaps one day you will offer your sword to my Emperor in a match??!!! Happy Hunting
-
Why is this off topic when I was just agreeing with what Trejiuvanat said, and continuing the thread of Tie fighters under Bug or Feature? Imperator is Latin for Dictator, a concept close to the heart of the Emperor and Darth Vader. After all that thankyou for welcoming me to the Forum
-
Now that really is a good idea . To have a shipyard based on the planet as a storage facility for small ships would be far more realistic.
-
I wish I had that start in my game with Lord Vader!!!! But seriously, what went wrong?? What was your strategy??? You must have had extremely bad luck to have lost with that start. Were you playing the AI or were you playing a human opponent? Chris
-
I certainly am!!! Looking forward to a game with you XeqtR too!! In reply to Evader99:- I thought if you reset Reb Ed to its default settings it 'wiped' the game clean as if you were back to the games original settings. I am still getting used to RebEd...... there was NO intention of cheating my opponent. Chris
-
You can load Tie Fighters onto any ship present upto its load capacity and leave the system, even if they were origially based in that system. Of course any left behind will have a very bad day Yours Chris
-
Have since found out that you need a clean install of Rebellion. By unistalling Reb Ed and Reinstalling Rebellion I have at last been able to link up and start a great game with Lord Vader
-
Inuyashi has hit the nail on the head, in that you cannot retreat Tie Fighters from a battle if no ships to load them on are present. If they are on their own they have to fight it out. One way of inflicting disproportionate losses on the Empire,....... unfortunately.
-
I unfortunately am still waiting in a dark corner of the Galaxy for a game. Lets hope we can fight it out soon Chris
-
Yes thats right......Gamespy picks up Rebellion but not Supremacy HELP
-
Does anyone know of any conflicts between Supremacy ( UK version ) and Rebellion which the rest of the world has got??? I have tried linking up with Lord Vader several times and always get the message '*.dat files are incompatable..etc'. We have both tried version 1.0 and 1.01, cleared out our save files ( ie clean start ), but nothing seems to work. I also tried to link up with Xeqtr, and had the same problem. Both players have Rebellion while I have Supremacy. I thought the only difference between the two platforms was packaging, but this does not appear to be the case. If this is the problem, has anyone out there got a spare copy of Rebellion I can purchase? Please help a poor megalomaniacal Empire player with several Star systems to support.
-
Impressive.........Most Impressive.........You have all learned much from Obi Wan. I think the golden rule here is to keep your opponent off balance, always reacting to you, not the other way around as with any decent strategy game. This game is absolutely FAB!!!!! I bought it in 1998 and I am still an avid fan, from the Empires point of view of course!!
-
Hi Chancellor, Don't worry I have'nt forgotten you!!! Will be in contact soon
-
Surrender is never an optional strategy for the Empire. My Faithful servant Vader has informed me that Mon Mothma and all her vile conspirators will be eliminated. But seriously, does anyone use similar tactics or are they just 'de rigueur' for starting the game??
-
I have found that the greater the effort put into espionage missions, the more information is returned to the player, ergo the greater chance of it failing. This linked in turn to how many troops are stationed on the planet vis their detection ratings. The longer the mision goes on the more chance they have of being 'discovered' by the garrison ( ie random searches ). Of course if you have some Noghri Death Squads or a decent character lying around, you can try to liquidate any characters, or sabotage them with Imperial Commando's, thus increasing the probability of 'hurting' the Rebel player
-
I found that playing on expert, I had to let the AI have 75-100 days of doing what it wanted before I input any moves or missions at all, and I could still pummel it into the ground. The Empires real problem at the start is build times on any sort of decent ship. The light cruiser is fine for loading 3-4 Imperial Commandoes and a character who is good at sabotage, flying it around undefended Reb planets and and destrying key facilities, but the real ships ( ie Imperial Star Cruisers ) take an age to build. RebEd of course changes all that. Does anyone know if we will see Supremacy II??? Chris

I am an old veteran of Supremacy ( Rebellion ) but have only recently discovered this fantastic Site. I have played the game since its release and never tire of it. Does anyone have any advice for the Empires first 100 days vis strategy?? I ususally start with the Emperor recruiting like mad on Coruscant, Diploming like mad with those who have a rating above 55, sabotaging with the rest, and building lots of Imperial Commando's to sabotage and incite. I also send out one or two transports with troops to explore the rim and find bases for shipyards ( planets with low resource but high energy slots. I then start building up my construction yard for future building. Also get the Facility research under way asp to get those lovely advanced Contruction Yards. I always play the Empire so I would be interested also in hearing from seasoned Rebel players about their opening Strategy. I have recently discovered RebEd, and it is now enabling the AI to give me much better games when I'm playing solo. ( The first time I used it the Rebels thrashed me into the ground, so I've toned it down a little!!) Any comments would be most appreciated. If Lord Vader reads this I will NOT be using this strategy on Saturday when we link up!!!!!! Remember the Empire is a force for good, giving stability, law and order to the Galaxy. The Rebels must be liquidated!!!! Imperator

Hi Chancellor Thanks for replying to my post. I 'm heavily engaged in several campaigns ( not all Supremacy!!) at the moment, but when I am free I will get in contact with you. Thanks Chris
