Sounds like a great B Movie
-
This is my favourite Python film too. Whats your favourite scene? Mine is 'The Tale of Sir Galahad', with the immortal lines:- Dingo:- She has been very naughty. You must spank her. And after you have spanked her you can do with her as you like. And then you must....Spank me ( cries of 'and me, and me ' from the maidens). And after the spanking... the oral sex. Sir Galahad the Chaste:- Well I suppose I could stay a bit longer. Brilliant

Here is my list in no particular order:- 1. The Empire Strikes Back ( a must for any budding Empire player!! ) 2. Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid ( Steve Martin's best film ) 3. Clay Pigeons ( Joachim Phoenix ) 4. Some Like It Hot 5. The Producers ( funniest film ever made, in my opinion ) 6. Young Frankenstein 7. The Mission ( De Niro, the soundtrack is wonderful ) 8. Seven ( Morgan Freemans performance is brilliant ) 9. The Return of the Pink Panther. 10. The Ladykillers 11. The Shawshank Redemption 12. Spartacus 13. El Cid 14. The Terminator 15. The Madness of King George III I could go on but the list is far too long already. SOCL's Jurrasic Park and Gladiator are also excellent films, I just wish Jurrasic and been made with a more adult audience in mind ( it was too tame considering those primeval creatures!!!)

Here is an update of the game between Lord Vader and myself:- Imperial Transmission The game now stands at Day 2410 1. The search for Mothma continues, but she seems to vanished into thin air. In fact Vader is hiding her so well my espionage attempts to find her have come to nought. 2. Three Strike Cruisers and the Interdictor 'Vampire' are ambushed over Urdur and destroyed 3. Revenge is taken by Death Star III heavily supported by lancers, carriers and hundreds of fighters. Two capital Alliance ships are obliterated by the DS, but the Interdictor cruiser Enforcer is destroyed allowing the rest to escape. Vader proves again what a cunning enemy he is by holding back several fighter squadrons in the hope that my fighters suffer enough attrition in the battle so that a DS attack can be launched. This time I spot what he is doing and foil his fiendish attempt ( phew ). 3. Rebels pushed out of Mayagil and Glythe Sectors. 4. Force Z, including SSD 'Imperator', SDII 'Imperial', VSDII's 'Sulla', 'Octavian', 'Caesar', 'Nero', and Ind Cruiser 'Constrictor' are wiped out in a fierce battle over Kimanan. Force Z was my super strong raider group that had destroyed dozens of Rebel installations in the southern held areas of the Alliance. Those Bulwarks are nasty. I lost Sulla ( the scourge of the Alliance ) at last, The Emperor laid a wreath at the Imperial War memorial to commemorate our brave crews 5. The devastated Fakir sector was taken at last, with Halowan, Ralltir and Bimmisari falling in quick succession against minimal opposition. This wasteland of barren planets yielded no clue to the whereabouts of Mothma and her vile conspirators. 6. Son of Death Star III appears in Dolomar sector and starts by taking Tangerene against no Rebel opposition. Vader made a comment about his frustration in fighting the Empire by using the analogy ' I feel like a gnat biting an Elephant'. We also agreed that the reverse is true, that the Empire felt like an Elephant trying to swat a swarm of gnats. Frustrating for both, but an interesting strategic dilemma for us both too. It reminds me of a comment General Zeitzler said about the German offensive in Soviet Russia during WWII. 'The German Army is like an elephant attacking a host of ants. The elephant will kill thousands even millions of them, but in the end he will be overcome, and eaten to the bone'. The Empire has massive resoures available to it, but Vader has proved to be a true Rebel, by denying head on confrontations ( which the Empire would love ), and instead dodges and dives, deflecting the Empires attempts to pin the Alliance down......DAMN HIM!!!!! The Imperial Fleet is not only trying to find Mothma and conquer planets but is also tied up with defending vast areas against pinprick attacks by the Rebels. Also dozens of planets taken from the Alliance are tying up huge numbers of troops, and my diplomats are fully taken up trying to reduce resistance to the Empire, but I have no where near enough. This is imposing a huge strain on the Empires resources. A problem to be overcome, but a problem nevertheless. My strategy now revolves around denying the Rebels, the ability to regroup and pushing them out of Sectors while searching for Mothma I can hear Mon Mothma now saying to her attending military council ( minus Luke )........' The Emperor has made a critical error and the time for our attack has come'........... Luckily Luke is still imprisioned on IPP 101, while IMP-22 is devising still more annoying sayings, like 'YESS', and then poking him a piece of cutlery from the kitchen. ( transcript from a meeting between The Emperor and Darth Vader on day 2400 ) Emperor:- How are you my friend, I hope you bring me good news about the search for Mothma. Vader:- The news is not good my master, she evades our every attempt to find her. ( a facial tick starts on the Emperors left side of his face ) Emperor:- WHAT?!!! ( his voice raises several pitches ) With the massive forces I have made available, and she still cannot be found!! Vader:- ( looking nervously at the floor ) She will be found and brought before you my master. ( he pauses and coughs ) There is something else my Lord Emperor:- ( starts to shout) WHAT ELSE!!! ( he glares at Vader, who is begining to wish he was somewhere else ) Vader:- Force Z has been destroyed at Kimanan in the Orus Sector my master. Emperor:- ( His voice quavering ) Imperator...... Sulla ........ gone...... Vader:- ( trying not to catch the Emperors gaze ) Yes my master. ( With that the Emperor starts shrieking and running around the throne room holding his head in his hands. He falls on the floor, thrashing his limbs and hitting the floor. He then starts biting huge chunks out of the ornate carpet. Vader thinks several more rugs will be needed until the Rebels are bought to heel. He sighs and leaves the Emperor covered in carpet fibres. As he leaves two very small holographs of SOCL and Trej appear. They are both wearing battered mexican hats, huge Sancho Panzsa moustaches, and are each carrying a pair of maraccas.) Vader:- Now is not a good time (SOCL and Trej take one look at the Emperor gnashing the carpet and promptly disappear ) So this is where the game stands at the moment Transmission Ends

Hi Malachi_666, Go into your account and type in the link of your avatar under the relevant section. After that you can always update it ( if you ever need to ) through your 'profile'. Welcome to the forum!! Chris

I like your ideas Vader, we will have to discuss by email I'm begining to think along these lines too . The Death Star is a prestige weapon, and the only time I have ever used its planet destroying capabilities whether its against the AI or in a multiplayer game, is to take out the Rebel HQ. It is HIGHLY vunerable to fighter attack and to protect it from this threat it needs an inordinate amount of fighter protection. But still, its great being on the other side of the world, and wishing you could see the face of your opponent when the Death Star hoves into view over something 'important' A good solid tactical idea, but I've already thought of the antihesis of this tactic. We will have to try out both and see what happens

Many moons ago I used a 28k modem and I did manage to play multiplayer, slow but ok. I think my advice to you would be to link up with a player on the forum, as they are serious Rebellion fans and hopefully will not let you down by wimping out after 5 minutes of play. This did used to happen if you just linked up with people in the Gamespy room for Rebellion. Transient weak minded fools who would ditch the game after 3mins of play. May the Sarrlac have them I think Xeqtr, StrangeTom, and Alzir to name but a few are looking for opponents. Find their threads on the Forum, and dont give up. Good luck Bountyhunter!!! I'm fully booked at the moment with great games against Chancellor and Lord Vader, but will drop you aline when I'm free ( huge Galaxy, Standard game.....no rules......with me as the Empire of course!!) If you are interested in an update of an ongoing game read 'Imperial Transmission' under Gaming stories. Oh and welcome to the Forum!!! Chris

Fraid I'm working tonight I've got two tough games going at the moment, but when free will drop you a line Chris

Trej, you have got to play multiplayer......its what the game was designed for. Drop any of us a line if you want a game.....Multiplayer is what the game was designed for. The AI as I've already said somewhere else is adequate at best, even with RebEd modifications it still uses the same old tactics. The two games I have going at the moment with Lord Vader and Chancellor are absolutely riveting. You can even get a good old adrenhalin rush when you have laid your ambush for the enemy fleet, but you are still not certain what he will do. Fight or flight???......the fleets are evenly matched......if you lose, all could be lost, but if you win......the victors laurels are tantilizingly once again within your grasp!!!!!!! The games true breadth and scope are revealed against a stubborn, mean and downright devious opponent!! You must play multiplayer
-
Glad it is of some interest Trej!!!!!! I hope it will inspire more to play multiplayer!! You have spotted the fear of the Empire Trej. Two victory conditions complete, but finding Mon Mothma will be like finding a piece of straw in a massive haystack of needles, giving the Rebs time ( perhaps ) to regroup and strike. Although Luke is safely behind bars on IPP 101, he could still escape in the time it takes to capture Mon Mothma, and then it begins all over again. Will keep you all updated

. A quote that goes for the Empire as well!!! The loss of the second Death Star caused me even more loyalty problems , although it was in many cases compensated by the destruction of the Rebel HQ Imperator ( the SSD mentioned ) had its hull reduced to 900, in other words it was reduced to scrap with the loss of hundreds of lives amongst the crew. It is now taking a long time to repair as its hyperdrive was mashed too. This game (which has been the toughest ever ) has shown up a number of tactical, operational and strategic faults in my game, and has sharpened my game accordingly. I am looking forward to the next game against Lord Vader with more than a hint of trepidation Another REALLY irritating saying of IMP-22's is 'I think you have misunderstood the concept'. You can imagine Luke trying to change the channel of the Tv over to something more interesting and perhaps save his sanity, only to have IMP-22 say'I think you have misunderstood the concept' , being then poked with a stick and then turning the channel back to 'Neighbours' ( it makes me feel ill just to think about it!!) Perhaps the Empire is too cruel with its guests

Drop me a line if you want a game, I'm in West Midlands Chris -
Thanks for your comments Evader99, its a shame LucasArts have seemingly lost interest in the game, after all it is their baby. I've never understood why they never released the title to a 'Budget' softwarehouse. Same reason I suppose. Oh well we will just have to keep coming up with ideas
-
Have you altered the game in any way using RebEd , or had your opponent ? If so, read Evader99's comments under Rebellion vs Supremacy. They helped me out immensely.
-
So my next question would be:- Is there a thread to this anywhere?? So come on Evader99, Stratus, JediIgor, Scathane, Elvis, and Trej , has the forum tried to use any of its influence with LucasArts ?. Is there anything we can do collectively or as individuals??. After all, the Forum I am sure would speak with one voice......all 2800+ of us. There are loads of ideas for Reb II, even a patch that could be made available through the Forum might be feasible. Here is an example of a great idea just in this thread. This would enhance the game considerably. So come on everyone, lets list the ideas and try to approach LucasArts!!!! What does everyone think????[/i]
-
Thats not the half of it Trej..... he also has his senses bombarded 24/7 by being strapped in a chair and made to constantly watch Neighbours, Coronation Street, and Big Brother........a nightmare leaving Luke longing for the blow of Vaders lightsabre to end his suffering !!!! Well I'll certainly bear that piece of advice in mind. My strategy ( which I won't divulge because it is under serious review ) nearly led to disaster against what I consider a better approach in the early game by the Rebels, and more than once I was very lucky
-
Scanned the forums but didnt find it before I wrote the post. Sorry. Could you point me to where it is? Thanks for your note La Forge, what we have to do is see if LucasArts will develop Reb II, but I'm not going to hold my breath Is there nothing we can do as a collective forum to bring this to the attention of LucasArts

Drop me a line if you need a hand

Start Imperial Transmission:- Here is a transcript of some salient points of an ongoing campaign game between myself and Lord Vader. 1) Balmorra, the only Rebel planet in the Sesswenna sector is captured by Imperial troops on Day 6. 2) Rebel diplomatic efforts and a minor skirmish in the Farfin sector swings the entire sector to the Alliance. 3) Intensive Imperial Diplomatic efforts swing most of Sluis and Corellian sectors to The Empire. 4) Dolomar starts falling through diplomacy to the Alliance. 5) First major campaign by the Empire leaves much of the Dolomar sector in ruins but still in Rebel hands. 6) Extensive sabotage is carried out by both sides, but the carracks Assasin, Eagle and Retribution wreak havoc in Rebel rear areas with squads of commandoes led by Novall Garaint, Garidian and Niles. 7) Imperial Commerce raiders Sulla, Caligula, Nero and Caesar ( Victory I's) bombard alot of Rebel resource and Industry to Ashes in Alliance rear areas. Nero and Caligula are destroyed but Sulla 'the scourge of the Alliance' continues to pay for itself many times over. It is reported that the Alliance is down to -700 maintenance at one point. Luke Skywalker is captured and abducted on Delaya by Darth Vader and brought before the Emperor to learn of his heritage. He is severely wounded and sentenced to life imprisionment on the prison planet IPP101, where he is constantly poked with a sharp stick by IMP-22. 9) The frontline stabilizes with both sides fighting pitched battles in the Fakir System. Control swings back and forth with the Rebels slowly gaining control through uprisings although the system is devastated. 10) Imperial Fleet Strike1 is completely annihilated at Palanhi by superior Rebel tactics and firepower. Several Imperial capital ships including the renowned Decimator are lost. 11) Imperial Fleet Strike 2 supported by the Death Star ( which missed the battle of Palanhi by one week ) arrive over Palanhi and destroy a crippled Mon Calamari cruiser. Palanhi recaptured. 12) Alliance forces capture Sluis Van. Strike 2 and DS arrive over Sluis Van. Rebel player has cunningly loaded the planet with hundreds of B Wings ... the scourge of the Death Star which succumbs to a fighter attack. B wings wiped out and Sluis Van recaptured. Empire has loyalty problems on several planets due to the loss of the Death Star. 13) Roving Alliance Fleet of several capital ships is utterly defeated in an Imperial ambush over Norval II. Second Death Star Construction begins. 14) The Rebel Base is discovered unbeknown to the Alliance on Alk'lellish III. 15) Two Imperial SSD ( flagships are the Galactically renowned and feared Imperator & Emperor ), together with several ISDII's and many others, plus the new Death Star are sent to to eliminate the Rebel Base via Denab. 16) Strike3 arrives over Alk'lellish III supported by the DS. The Death Star is again destroyed... , but the Rebel base is destroyed and the planet captured. This is where the game stands at around turn 1900 approx. The game has been one of many triumphs and reverses ( not all of which are recorded ) for both sides. The game has been extremely competitive and fiercely fought, but also with humour. I have enjoyed the game immensely although it has been a little slow on my part ( I usually have 8-10 reports to deal with on average every turn, honest Russ!! ), but Russ has been very good about it. I will update on completion. I also have a game with Chancellor running at the moment although this game is only at turn 350, so I will write a report again around turn 2000 ( if I last that long). End of Transmission

Pet Peeve - No cut scene when you sabotage the Alliance HQ
Imperator replied to glandry's topic in General Discussion
I bet they are worth a bit now !!!!!!! -
I have often been slightly peeved that your Imperial Commadoes, Death Squads and all your troops dont gain any experience if they successfully complete a mission or win a battle. I would have thought it more realistic say if Commadoes also gained 1 experince point every time they successfully completed a mission. Also individual ships crews could be rated for experience thus they would have a chance of going up the ladder everytime they win a space battle. This would enable you have ratings like:- 1) Green ( just out of the Shipyard with a new crew ) 0-10 experience 2) Cadets 10-25 3) Trained 25-50 4) Veterans 50-75 5) Elite 75-100 experience I'm just tossing this in the air to see what everyone thinks

Meanwhile....back on Coruscant.... (The Emperor sits in a very important looking chair. He contemplates the universe, the power of the Dark Side, and where his next cheese sandwich is coming from.........A full-size holographic image of Vader materializes in front of him) Vader:- You wished to speak with me my master. Palpatine:- Yes my good friend, The Imperial Tyrant of Beakness SOCL , has............ ( His words trail off as he casts his gaze at what Vader is trying to hide in his hands. Vader fumbles and drops a cucumber and crab meat sandwich. Vader tries not to catch Palpatines eye ) Vader:- ( voice slightly embarassed ) I was at a party (Palpatine ignores him ) Palpatine:- The Grand Imperator of Beakness is having trouble with his Commadoes.....what do you suggest my friend ? Vader:- I will summon him at once ( A holographic image of SOCL appears, only it is half the size of Vaders....Palpatine and Vader gawp at the pink boxer shorts, and the rather battered Mexican hat he is wearing ) SOCL:- ( grinning uncomfortably ) I was eating Nachos your worshipfulness ( he clears his throat nervously ) Palpatine:- Vader ...get his Imperatorness his proper uniform...we have much to discuss about the proper deployment of false beards and strange accents for the upcoming assault on Yavin. ( Vader bows ) Vader :- Yes my master. SOCL :- Yes your Imperial worshipfulness ( as they leave the chamber Vader looks at SOCL ) Vader:- Where did you get those shorts? TO BE CONTINUED
