  1. At first I noticed nothing awry with the first of those photos, but the second tipped me off. I honestly did not see that coming. (either of them)
  2. Unfortunately it's not that simple. They can only make so many, and they have to supply for more than just North America. Japan is their largest market, so that's where they're focussing their resources. I hear there are still pleanty of PS3s that you could get.
  3. I use MSN most of the time. I'm pretty much always on, even when I'm in class. There's even the odd time I leave it on while I'm sleeping. The e-mail address that I use is in my profile. Just be sure you'r nick is whatever you use on here, or at least attach a comment to let me know who you are (if MSN still lets you do that?).
  4. "When 900 years old you reach, look as good you'll not, hmm?" Remember that Yoda was an alien, so his aging might (Ok, did. He was 900 years old!) progess at a different rate than Palpy's. Palpatine was human, or a variant of one, so twenty to thirty years would take quite a toll on an already aging body. I'd peg him at about fifty-five to sixty years old in RotS, so he'd be damn near ninty by the time RotJ happened. Also, with Yoda, you try living in a swamp for thirty years and tell me how you feel.
  5. I don't often go to the moves, mostly because most of what comes out is absolute crap, but there is one movie I've been waiting for for a while, and they've finally released the teaser trailer. This is the Iron Man movie. I've been a fan of Iron Man since I was a kid, and despite the modernization of the story line, I'm glad to see that they seem to have mostly kept to the basic background. I watched Superbad recently. I don't know, I just don't see what everyone sees in that movie. It was funny, but I wasn't in danger of loosing my bowls in laughter. I guess I just don't get today's comedy any more.
  6. Thanks guys. I'm around, I just don't really post that often... make that at all. My summers used to be filled with free time, now that free time is filled with work.
  7. You will acutally live longer if you restrict yourself to 5-7 hours of sleep each night, any more than that and you're over sleeping (or so I was told by Quite Interesting, and when has Steven Fry ever lied to me?0.
  8. LucasFilm might have something to compete with when they release their Clone Wars cartoon. They'll probably realize that and shut them down. I think that this one looks far more promising than the strictly Thrawn-based fan film. Even this is meant to be slightly cartoonish, the CG is much better than the Thrawn trillogy. I think I cried a tear when I saw Thrawn in this one.
  9. I'm shocked at how she just keeps getting younger looking.
  10. Going back to the English fleet of the 16th and 17th century, the captain aboard the flag ship was the most senior of the fleet's captains, however there were other officer's in the fleet that out ranked him. So, for example, the Mediterranean fleet was commanded by an Admiral of the White with an Admiral (anywhere from Rear-Admiral and up) of the Red and an Admiral (again, Rear-Admiral and up) of the blue below him, then each of the Captains in order of seniority. In Thrawn's fleet I would imagine that Pellaeon would be the most senior captain due to his age and service record, but that might not be the case. The Imerial Navy shows many similarities to the old Royal Navy, but it differs in many ways too, so who know's how seniority works in it? I've re-watched the trailer and my opinion still stands to some extent. The space scenes are well doen, but the characters themselves need a lot of work. They're movements are very stiff. I look forward to seeing future work.
  11. My point was that the CGI in the Star Wars movies was at least good, whereas most of this )except for some of the space clips) is simply amature. I'll stick with I.M.P.S.
  12. I find it strange that people can be enthusiastic about this when they're so very critical of George Lucas for his over use of CGI in the prequels. I think the only way to do Star Wars is with models and real actors, none of this computer generated crap.
  13. As a bit of randomness, who remembers this lovely song. The choreography in the dancing simply blows my mind.
  14. Curse you Mad, I was just going to post about this! It's exciting that they've chosen to do a sequel to StarCraft rather than to a game that already has one (Diablo for example). The nice thing about Blizzard making games is that you know they're going to do it right, and they're not going to release it until it's ready (unlike EA or LucasArts). I suppose my retro gaming spurt of WarCraft 2 (and soon to be WarCraft: Humans and Orcs when it arrives on my door step) will tide me over until a playable demo is available.
  15. Yup, I mich prefer the unaltered version. And I can also read that with out resizing it, but not because of good eye sight. More because my glasses mangify to such a great extent.
  16. From what I can see in this clip, there's no vaporizing or the symbiot and brock. Other than a big fire ball, there's actually thothing at all. I also noticed that as Brock jumped in, the symbiot bonded with him again. Who knows. I don't think we can truely say either way. Only time will tell.
  17. Godwin's Law in action! Well, sort of. SOCL is right that visually Brock and the symbiot were destroyed, but if there's one thing we know about the Marvel universe it's that not everyone who dies stays dead. Just read up on Captain America for proof of that! I don't think that Venom will appear again, but not because they've killed him. More because this movie has nearly killed the series. The caliber is nowhere near that of it's predecessors and has started swinging the franchise in the direction of The Hulk and X-Men. I give it one more movie before they give up.
  18. Hey guys! After spending an entire semester drudging through the dark corners of cyber-space and dealing with the world's scum bags, I decided to take some time away from a keyboard. Hopefully I'll pop in a little more often now! I think that for the next movie they need to scale back the number of villains being used. When I compare the first two Spider-man movies to, say, the X-Men movies, the thing that makes Spider-Man better is that they focus on one protagonist and one antagonist. This lets them develop the character more. The X-Men movies were pretty much a blatant attempt at a cash grab off of some popular comic heroes (unless you're a Gambit fan, in which case you got screwed over for Kitty Pryde). That's what I think went wrong with this movie: they put in two villains and didn't have enough time to really develope either character, except for Sandman at the end (truely heart-warming I thought too).
  19. It's also possible that Brock is dead and they'll jump to Mac Gargan (who is the curren hose for the symbiot), though that would rule out the Scorpion appearing as a villain. It's likely that they ended the Venom story line as they did to allow future directors breathing space on the subject. Because Sam Raimi will not be directing any possible future sequals, he's given his successor the option to assume Venom is dead and move on or to bring him back in the next film, or any film following. Rather nice of him I say.
  20. Wow, it's been ten years since Lucas first butchered the movies? It seems like only yesterday... or maybe I'm thinking of when he re-released them in their original format without touching up the video quality. Yeah, that's what I was thinking of. For me, the best Star Wars memories happened during the time that I was able to slip the movies from their VHS covers as they were packaged in the original trilogy set back in the 80s.
  21. That must be terrible, waking up to see mountains and blue water. I feel for you Mad. If I ever stop spending my money and finally take a vacation I'm coming to visit, lol.
  22. But SOCL, Marcus Aurelius was born on March 8th . EDIT:That was according to Wikipedia. I have found one source that marks it as April 26. I will continue to investigate (and by that I mean assume Wikipedia is wrong again, and simply go with the 26th. )
  23. Bah, Grace Park? Now if it were Katee Sackhoff I'd be impressed!. Unfortunately no one of consequence was born on August 27th.
  24. Barney actually. And the family name is Azzemen (not sure on the spelling). Sadly I only scored 10/20.
  25. Grape shot is the term for this . My take on this is as follows: The colonists had the right to form their own government, I don't think anyone would disagree., however the manner in which they achieved this was, well, over the top. There are two countries in North America that were once British colonies. One gained it's independence through war and violence, the other had a mild uprising and negotiated it's freedom with England. Strange that the way a country is forged is still reflected today in that nation's actions. Anyway, the British were not as tyrannical as the rebels made them out to be, and rally England was just getting the colonies to do their fair share to recover from a long war. I find it funny that once the new government was established the colonists had to pay the taxes anyway... On the matter of evil, it was a different time. No, it's not right, and I certainly wouldn't do it, but it was really a class thing. That, and Cornwallis wasn't one of England's greatest military leaders. That's why he was stuck in the colonies. Just as a side note to the tyrannical British government issue, if England was so horrible why would they, after loosing this war, march all the way to New Orleans during the next and say "You know what, we've got most of your country, and we have a battle hardened army with a brilliant commander sitting in Europe. But we won't send him over. You stop fighting and we'll go back to the way it was."? Sounds like a nice group of people to me.
