  1. Why would that red panda eat at kestrel? And unlike their larger cousins, have a much higher sex drive... No joke!

Everyone, welcome Jahled "Picture & Techno-Savvy-er" Surname on board as SWR's latest moderator! He will be helping Evaders and I around the shop these days, especially when even the moderators get out of line...

Ugh. I didn't care for Balance Point, though unfortunately it has a semi-paramount point in it that winds up defining the end of the series, so you have to read it anyway. With all due respect, Tofu, what the hell are you talking about? It's a stand-alone novel... He's referring to the NJO series and the Yuuzhan Vong war. I've got it, read it. It's not too bad of a book, even though I've heard otherwise. Can't say it was a favourite of mine. Sure, but Tofu's saying it winds up the series, yet it doesn't. It's a standalone. The Unifying Force, many novels later, winds up the series.

Jahled, pictures!!! I just started the NJO's Balance Point. Pretty decent so far. I'm trying to read as many as possible before next Saturday when I disappear for Fort Knox.
  6. All, please welcome our newest forum moderator, Jahled! He's not particularly new to the community (at all!), but we're very excited to have him on as part of the team!

I read Lord of the Flies in grade school and it thoroughly disturbed me...
  8. Really, you don't have to worry about. But thanks for the thought! Whenever you're set with an insignia Krytos, slip it on over to Evaders via PM. I would do it myself, but I haven't the site access.
  9. Why not just use RebEd and tweak the maintenance points and costs for Death Stars? That would make having one for each planet much easier. I only suggest it to see if someone will do it (since I don't have SWR installed at the moment to do it myself...)
  10. I thought that the last one also applied to Texas?

Every time I see "LotF", my mind translates Lord of the Rings, then "wait a minute, that's an 'F'. Lord of the Flies?" Then I realize what was being talked about ... Legacy of the Force. Just had to share and clear that up Your age is showing again, Tex.

Tofu, thank you very much for the Spoiler Alert because I nearly spoiled it for myself. I am currently reading Agents of Chaos II: Jedi Eclipse after just having completed the first of the duology. Currently, I have read every novel from The Truce at Bakura to Agents of Chaos over the span of some six years...with some digressions and long pauses in there. I'm actually rather surprised by James Luceno writing here after the cheesey-ness of Labyrinth of Evil, as well as the generally poor reviews some of the older members gave some years back. Despite its rough start in Vector Prime, the NJO is actually turning out a little better than I expected. I'm certainly excited about reaching the Legacy series. Only 18 novels to go...
  13. This one is so bad, I'm rather ashamed of making and then posting it. I made it for this thread. http://i140.photobucket.com/albums/r36/SOCL3/SWR_poster.jpg

First of all, and I'm rather upset at SOCL for missing this, it's Seuss! You are not allowed to talk about that great man and misspell his name. I will not tolerate it. This is why you were commissioned as Grand AKmiral.
  15. Krytos, I think Mad's assertion of 100x100 is fine, but no more. We're actually supposed to have a limit 80x80 for avatars and smaller for insignia, but no worries about that particular thing. We're rather lenient, or so it seems.
  16. Welcome to the forums, Hamster! Good to see fresh meat--blood--flesh... Um...new members. Make yourself at home and, above all, have a good time!
  17. Haha! Krytos is going to be Mr. Nine-Dots? I'm flattered.
  18. Krytos, you can trust Mad will find something much more unique and creative than what I suggested.
  19. The New Republic emblem? Allow me to suggest some military "dots" insignia. I suggest looking at this page for inspiration. Or you could always do the 9-dot general approach. I think it would be cool to see some Rebel dots about the place, especially something like 9 dots, which would probably rank as a Rebel/Republic equivalent of a Grand Admiral.
  20. I know there's a joke behind Ackbar saying, "It's a trap!" but what is it? Did I miss something? What's the joke?
  21. I suppose that's true about Bloom in LOTR. Even so, I thought Aragorn's elvish was far more convincing and sounded far more natural than the way Bloom puked his lines in shudders and spurts.
  22. If I may, allow me a moment to give a "Boring Explanation And Korrection"...after all, it is my job. There is a difference between a rank and a title. For instance, being someone like "Rogue Leader" is a title. Look at Wedge Antilles. As Rogue Leader, he was the rank of Major (Squadron Leader), Commander (Lieutenant Colonel/Wing Commander), Captain (Colonel/Group Captain), and some form of General. He was still Rogue Leader, which was both his call-sign and title. A rank is what level of posting one holds within the military hierarchy. I just thought I'd clear this up that way you don't think you have to restrict yourself to the ultra-high ranks. For instance, originally, I was just going to use "Fleet Admiral" for mine...that is, until I found out about the existence of the rank "Supreme Moff" and thought that would be cool since no one has ever used it. I mean, even if you wanted to be a "Lieutenant", you'd still be a higher rank than the fellows who have received the automatic ranks of Commodore and Lieutenant Colonel, etc. But it's up to you.
  23. Yeah, I wasn't exactly impressed by it. Rather the same things we've seen and heard everywhere else, just rehashed with Professors, politicians, and television personalities! And I get sick of hearing Joseph Campbell hailed as some sort of god. Yes, okay, fine, yippee, he had some interesting ideas. Okay, let's move on.
  24. That's Mara Jade?! Oh...man... Well, at least it's a prototype...I hope.
  25. Well, that site has changed significantly since I first posted it a few days back. I must say, a squealed quite happily when I saw CG Thrawn, and he didn't look wonky like Vader or Yoda. CG animation seems to be the direction most Star Wars is headed, if the video on StarWars.com and then this video (fan reaction) are anything to gauge. I'm not sure I like making serious parts of Star Wars look so...well, goofy and cartoonish, but it certainly fills a certain void now that we no longer have film debuts to await. Besides, this is a perfect opportunity to, for a fraction of the cost of making a live-action movie (I think...), see famous EU bits (like Thrawn, Fel, Daala, Yuuzhan Vong, etc) on the screen. This is actually rather exciting, reminiscent of those years from the Shadows of the Empire marketing campaign in the run-up to the Special Editions. At least, reminiscent to those of us who were young (or felt young) then and can't remember (due to a lack of life) the release of the originals.
