  1. Count me in for beta testing. I also have some experience at graphic design and a some coding if theres anything you want to pass off (like going through really long code or something).
  2. Sorry folks, but the FTP site for the x64 installer that I listed earlier in this post is down for good. My ex-roommate had the server at his new place, but he decided to move again. Just thought I'd let you all know so you don't keep trying to connect.
  3. ok folks, the x64 installer is up on my ftp site for your downloading pleasure. thanks to budious for all the work, I just ran the game fine on my copy of 64 bit windows. the ftp address is: kastor.dnsdojo.com u: reb p: darth please be patient its not a high-bandwidth server, but it should work. any problems just PM me.
  4. Hey budious, I posted a while back about hosting the x64 installer on my ftp site, but it wiped out when the site went down I think. Anyways please PM me if you can get the installer to me so I can throw it up on the site. I don't have IRC so we'll have to try something else.
  5. I had to share this battle with someone, and my roommates don't appreciate this game, so here goes. Each of my Imperial Sectors has a sector fleet, based at the world with all the shipyards for that sector. In this case, it was the Mayagil sector on Urdur, with 12 Advanced Shipyards. My fleet had 2 ISD IIs, 2 VSD IIS, 3 Lancers, and an Interdicter Cruiser. 27 TIE Interceptors total were on the the planet and the fleet. I'm playing against the computer, so I know this would have been alot different against a human opponent, but those nasty Rebels jump in-system with 2 Bulwarks, 2 Liberators, 2 Medium transports, an Escort Carrier, and a CC-7700 Interdicter. He has 22 fighters: 13 A-wings, 5 Y-wings, 3 B-wings, and 1 X-wing. So I figure, what the hell, I'll at least take out one of his Liberators for this treachery. We start pounding away at eachother, and I manage to reduce both his Liberators down to only nocombatant systems, like tractor beams, hyperdrives, and engines. They have no shields and no weapons and about 1/3 of their hull left. By this time, my fighters and lancers have dealt with his fighters, so I put them on his first Bulwark. One of my ISD IIs, the Howe, has only about 500 hps left on the hull and no systems, one of my VSD IIs is completly gone, and the other has about 100 hps left. All I have now is one ISD II, the Anson, with failing shields, plus my interdictor and 3 lancers and about 4-5 fighter squadrons. This is where the human opponent would slag the Anson, but the comp decides to pound on my lancers. I manage to take his first bulwark down to a heap of metal by the time he destroyed all my lancers and slagged my interdictor. I'm thinking...good run, now that bulwark obliterates my ISD. Nope. HE TRIES TO SHOOT THE INTERCEPTORS DOWN WITH HIS BULWARK. Meanwhile, his 2 transports and the carrier are taking their toll on my fighters, who are uselessly taking potshots at the bulwark, and the Anson can't seem to get through those damned shields. Then, bless that loyal crew, the Howe comes back into the fight with minimal weapon recharging, but its enough to help take down the shields on the bulwark, and then onto reducing it to slag. Throughout this whole engagement, the Anson never lost shields or any other systems because that AI is stupid. I didn't autocalc the end of the battle then because I was afraid if they rebel AI is this dumb, my AI would somehow lose despite my heroic stance. So I continue wearing down the hull on the bulwark, when I noticed I'm getting shot from offscreen, and what do you know one of his liberators fixed their weapons. So I turned around and dealt with him, only to notice the first bulwark crew has managed to fix their shields AND weapons. Now I have lost all my fighters, the Anson is still healthy, the Howe has minimal weapons and has started getting shields back, and my interdictor got a few guns working as well. So after about 6 minutes of pounding on the bulwarks shields, the recharger finally goes out and I take him out. Then I mopped up the rest of them. Final losses: Imps: 1 VSD II, 3 Lancers, 27 TIE Interceptors Rebs: 2 Bulwarks, 2 Liberators, 2 Medium transports, 1 CC-7700, 1 Escort Carrier, and 22 fighters. FINAL SCORE: Humans: 1 AI: 0
  6. So I'm playing as Rebels (those scum), and Leia and Han never seem to be able to do a mission without the empire foiling it. So I send Luke with them on a mission, and he discovers that *gasp* HAN AND LEIA ARE TRAITORS. Now, I use Rebed, but I never touched the characters with it. How the hell did they become traitors?
  7. well, my coruscant defense fleet is always the same, 2 SSD named Bismarck and Tirpitz, 4 ImpStar II's named Hood, Renown, Respite, and Repulse, an Interdictor named Constrictor, and sometimes a couple VicStar II's. Those of you who study WWII naval history should recognize the names. My core attack fleet usually ends up with 3 SSDs:Scharnhorst, Gneisenau, and Duetschland. All my Impstar II's are named after British warships, while my SSDs are named after German ships. Lancer's get rivers, natural disasters, mountains, and sometimes cities...I usually have a lot of Lancers so I need a lot of names. My favorite ship is of course, the Hood.

    strat

Does anyone else play this game with a strategy in mind? I can beat the AI any day of the week. If you're the empire, all you gotta do is get two shield generators on coruscant ASAP, then the rebels can't ever take it unless the sabotage, but if you're construction yards on there you can rebuild fast. In my current game (btw I don't use cards or RebEd) I control 13 entire sectors, each with a sector fleet based at the planet in the sector with my shipyards. Each sector fleet consists on an interdictor, 2 imp star IIs and 2 vic star IIs with 9 tie interceptor wings on the planet. Every world I have has double gencore IIs, each sector has one planet dedicated to all construction yards, all shipyards, and all training facilities. Every world has 3 stormtrooper regiments, except manufacturing worlds, which have 6 stormies and 3 dark troopers. Coruscant has 2 SSD, 4 Imp star IIs, 4 vic star IIS, and 6 lancers, plus a shitload of troops and interceptors. And then there's my Dark Fleet, which has like 20 imp star IIS, 30 vic star IIs, couple interdictors, 3 SSDS, and 20 or so lancers, completley full of interceptors and stormies and some personnel. That fleet can take any world, and all my diplomats are with them. Anyone else have a methodical strat they wanna share? Oh btw I have like 2000 free matience points right now too. Also, has anyone been able to get into a really good battle with the AI? He never seems to get enough ships together to make for an interesting fight...
