New Bulwark Battlecruiser model
Knightcrawler replied to AdmiralToguroAni's topic in Rebellion Model Editing
I am in the process of modeling the Bulwark to a much higher degree of detail than any previous model, along with some artistic interpretation here and there. It's not EC Henry/FractalSponge/Howard Day level, but I think I'm doing a pretty good job. I was wondering if there is anyone in this community who could help me texture it when it's modeled and UVmapped. -
Oh programmers, you silly gooses. But that sucks. :-/ Ah well, if you're like most programmers, you would have been unhappy with that work and redone it anyway, amirite? Seriously sucks, though.

Good luck on this. If any of these engines gets to the point where things start to become playable, I'll model at least one of the high-tech Rebel ships.

Rebellion for sale on the Lucasarts website
Knightcrawler replied to generik's topic in General Discussion
It's not available anymore. Stupid site update. -
Do you use any decoy? I actually remember one of my first games when indeed Han blew up an ISD over Coruscant in the very first days. Struck my opponent hard - but I thought it was pure luck. Are you suggesting that Han can do the trick more often? Wow, I can't believe so many people here don't know some of the basic rules of the game. Every time a character successfully concludes a mission, their stat that applies to that mission goes up one point. So if you send someone on a lot of sabotage and espionage missions, they become nearly unstoppable. It's even better to send a Jedi or Dark Jedi, because every time they FAIL, their force points goes up by one (which in the end increases their stats pretty dramatically). And Luke is practically a god. Every time he fails and Darth Vader or Emperor Palpatine are present, he gains two force points. Plus, I don't think he CAN succeed if either of them are present at the planet; they always end up fighting. So if you've got Luke in orbit, you can just send him down for some intense jedi training on the surface. Make sure to have a nearby planet taken over though, because it's been so long since I've played that I don't remember whether Luke will return to the ships in orbit if he fails or if he'll go to the nearest system. Anyway, when you try to do sabotages, try to abduct or assassinate all the people in command positions first; they improve the detection rating for all that they command. Then sabotage the units in descending order of detection rating. Then sabotage the defensive facilities.

I guess I'll try Hypersnap DX. I don't have Homeworld and besides, I only use official sources when I make my models. Anyway, I go by Knightcrawler pretty much everywhere I go, or "Tony (Knightcrawler)." Thanks for the welcoming. None of my XWAU projects are complete. The CC-7700 will of course not be an XWAU project (since it wasn't in the game originally and wasn't meant to be, unlike the StarViper and perhaps Modified Strike Cruiser), but hopefully it will be at that level.
-
Like I said, the CC-7700 is a ship I'd like to model for XWA. I don't need to extract the model, really. Especially since it's extremely poor quality compared to today's standards. I'd like to make an XWAU-quality model, and perhaps even have it be my first texturing project (it seems like a nice ship to texture). Of course, it'll be public once it's done. It should look really good. However, it would be a SIDE-project. Anyway, how do I take screenshots? *Edit* Oh and actually, I am trying to contact LucasArts/Coolhand for information on the ship that was taken out of the game and the cool Corellian-freighter seen in the FMV of the Rebels taking Coruscant.
-
Well, I wanted to play around with modeling a CC-7700 for XWA (as a side-project), but I need screenshots from in-game. Well, I couldn't find save states online, so I play through 2 hours of the game and beat the Empire to a pulp and get my precious CC-7700s, but of course the screenshots are all black. No fun. I don't want to extract the model because I don't feel like getting confused today. FRAPs can't take screenshots in Rebellion. Anyone got any ideas?

What are people's 5 ESSENTIAL wants for Reb2?
Knightcrawler replied to Chimera's topic in Rebellion 2 Ideas
1) Capturing oppenent's ships. 2) Hybridized technology. 3) A tactics interface like the one I designed a year+ ago. 4) Independent fighters, sure. 5) Space stations and planetary defenses involved in the tactical battles. ... 6) More sweeping random events, like an outside race invading the galaxy, or some neutral planets banding together for one reason or another to start their own war against both sides, etc.. These events would be very rare; limited to maybe 1 every thousand days or so. -
1) This is not a topic for suggestions, Cain. 2) Those feature you suggested would fit better into Star Wars: Galaxies than Rebellion.
-
Rebellion 2 isn't a mod.
-
Crew experience levels have been brought up, and I brought up an idea whereby each ship would have stats dedicated to how much crew they had aboard. AKA: Skeleton < Recommended < Overcrewed. I dunno if I would want any of my ships to disobey me, but it's an interesting idea. *Edit* I'm not trying to depress everyone. There are surely still many ideas to be thought up.

They've all been said. Sorry. :-/

You wouldn't gain Mantenance Points from scrapping an enemy ship, you'd gain Refined Minerals. Your M.P. is: (Refinery/Mine combos) - (Total required M.P. on your side)

State of the Galaxy; where things stand
Knightcrawler replied to JediGreg's topic in Rebellion 2 Ideas
Wow, a response that quick. Hehe. Actually, my dad wrote a book on .Net/C#, so he knows a lot about it. I, however, know nothing about it. I am glad you landed a contract, honestly and truly. It's really tough to be without work. I'm all for whatever is easiest for you and the community, and with such a wide range of choices individual modders can make on the game mods, I doubt anyone will feel alienated. Sounds like a good choice, although I really do suck at programming stuff. -

And we're still behind you. -
I actually had an opportunity to have the first post here. I was sitting here thinking: "There's no posts here... I could really post something." Then I thought: "Well, I gotta post something related to the forum, and I should probably let someone who cares more get the first post." Oh well, I guess the person who cared the most didn't get the first post at all.

I think banners over ships is a great idea.
-
Um, no they don't. They fire as frequently, but they fire at 1/12 the original power. I would really love to see linear, but it just wouldn't work well. Imagine trying to manually click on a moving Corvette or fighter or something that is a pixel in size. Maybe a replay mode could use linear or maybe the magnification lense could be such that as you move your cursor around, there is a lense that is about 10 times bigger in a corner, following you cursor, and any time you click, you are selecting what is in the middle of the lense. Still, it would be hard to find the object you are looking for in the first place. For now, I say logorythmic.

Yeah, by "Chain of command," I mean having one person being voted as basically the guy who does large, sweeping commands such as moving a fleet from one sector to another and ordering construction. The other people would have positions determined by the whole team. One character could be in charge of character missions, another in charge of resources and building, another in charge of expansion and fleet composition, etc.. It really all depends on the team. You can even do it so that each player has control of a whole sector. Microphone communication would probably be best for this type of game, but it would be fine if everyone typed fast enough, too. Chain of command basically allows people to have really detailed and optimized control of their faction while still having the game on about Medium speed. *Edit in* And of course during battles, each person would be assigned certain Task Forces and Fighter Groups as determined pre-battle.
-
I think all options would have been .
-
Okay, here are my thoughts. I think that the number of players should be limited to 8 in a faction-faction game, 12 in faction-faction-faction, 16 in faction-faction-faction-faction, etc.. I would probably say double that in an ideal world, but this isn't an ideal world . I think spectators should be allowed to watch the proceedings. Each faction would have 2 votes: Whether they want to be viewed by spectators at all and whether or not they will allow spectators to view other factions and speak with spectators viewing other factions. I am sure most low-bandwidth players will still play with less than 4 players including spectators, but there are high-bandwidth people and LAN parties. I think alliances between factions should be allowed or disallowed in a pre-game vote, but I don't think betrayals should be allowable. Too much programming for such a lame rule...
-
Of course this has been discussed before, but I might as well make a topic for it seeing as this place was really slowing down. I don't think I have to introduce any of these concepts, but I will if anyone needs me to. Take your pick of the above options or post and have me add a new one. Also, please write in a post if you want a limit to the number of players in any one multiplay game if that number is greater than 2. Also please state whether you want alliances between players to be an option or even people from one chain of command betraying their commanders and moving to the other side. What are your thoughts on spectators?

Insted of having to scroll and scroll through posts...
Knightcrawler replied to GonkRaider's topic in Rebellion 2 Ideas
I thought Mon Calamari women would be incredibly ugly until I saw Shenir Rix. She's not bad. But you know what I think? I think it sucks how that is the only way to capture the Emperor and Vader. I mean, I have had Luke as a Jedi Master and like 500 in Espionage and Combat Power and stuff and he can NEVER capture either the Emperor or Vader. I've never purposely had someone captured, so I haven't seen the final battle. I suppose I should play as the Empire more and capture Luke with Vader...
