Say, your Sovereign model is actaully quite good. Nice one! However, i'm dubious to the extreme about your avatar. But heck, i don't even know know how to post my funky Stormtrooper. So I guess ignore my critical comment.... 8O

The Mod Strike would copmplement the other models well. Any chances for one of the NJO Project models?

Mask I love your models cept the Mc80 "Home One" is giving me errors. I replaced the Bulwark BC with it and now in the RebEd viewer I get an error, is there something im doing wrong?

Also the Interdictor and Victory Star Destroyer Cards say they are not valid RebEd cards, I downloaded the cardspace updater also and got the same errors.

I'm liking the avatar. So after the New Year revelry is over, we, sorry, you, can get on with it and we might get to see some textured models? How close would you say we are to seeing some textured models? Do you reckon you've got it sorted and its just a matter of sitting down and doing it now then?

The textured models ? Hmm, been working on that, but it's a bit difficult. As far as I understand it, the textures will be your flat pic with 'unwrapped' parts from the model all over it. To create these parts you have to make some kind of screenshot from, say the upper hull and then place it somewhere in your texture area. Same goes for the rest of the parts, that shall be textured. At least that's what I thought after reading the 3d prog's helpfile.

Can anyone show me a good and easy-to-understand tutorial for this stuff ?

I'll try to see if the guys from Polycount have anything on this.

 

 

Screed: if a model appears in the game, but not in RebEd, then that's nothing to worry about. It just means, I made the .x file with LithUnwrap.

Did you download these cards from my page ?

 

 

Tsunami: If I'd get a good model from the NJO series, then I surely would convert it to Rebellion's format (after the TC, though). So far I've only found a model for the Coralskipper, which was in essence a brownish egg, with two torpedoe tubes. Maybe it would look better with other textures :D

Oh yeah, and what I also wanted to write into this thread:

 

I finished the new fighters tutorial ! There I describe, how you can produce new starfighters and import them into Rebellion. Currently it's on my page and it should be in the downloads section here soon. I hope Vakundok will forgive me, that I included his texture program in it :wink:

Great thing about the fighters. Really can't wait to get them into action. Um, where do I get the tutorial? It's not yet in the Downloads and I really cannot find it through links of your official page (well, you cannot get to the Rebellion: Reloaded section from there, btw.) Edited by Tsunami

Tsunami, I would prefer, if you'd post the entry to my page only. So it would be //members.xoom.it/d_kelley/ , or more simple //kickme.to/woodsboro/ .With the link you provided, the outer frame would be left away and I'd have to include a nifty script that loads the frame, or the start page just to have nobody integrating that part as 'his own'.

 

The reloaded was initially intended as a resource page for my dll-editing team. When the TC is complete, there will be an easier access to the final page.

About the cards, did you download them from my page ???

 

 

Pucho, I thought I eliminated those red dots in the pic on my page, funny. I gotta check this out ... yep, you got the original. When I ever get the time to do this, then the other fighters will be placed there at random on both sides, btw.

Basically it's just clicking the game select button on the left and then either the quick selection bar on the top, or one of the corresponding pictures. In the english version currently only Rebellion is working. Maybe I'll edit the overlay pics to grey with a red "not translated yet", so nobody will be confused with it.

 

You looked for the fighters tutorial in the german version ? It's not there yet, cause I wrote the english one first. Maybe I can finish the german version this weekend.

 

The reloaded 'page' was meant to be temporarily only, since it's mainly just the place to give tasks to my team, to show the progress and new technology to be used in building the TC. When it is finished, I'll make something more real with screenshots and all.

Pucho, textures are pictures 'wrapped' around a model, or parts of it. So you could change a plain white cube with textures into a dice.

Yerah, i'd say that's pretty much it. I'm still waiting for someone to bring out a modeler/texturing combo that lets you build ships using wireframe, and then texture them as if you were painting in MS Paint!!! But i don't think thats going to happen. :(

...just a quicky....is it possible to increase the capacity of starship models in the game? With all the new models i'm beginning to run out of ships to replace. If it is possible, will it have any effect on game speed? I can forsee RebEd having to be tweeked a little....

If that's what you meant, then no, i don't believe this is possible, apparently it's coded into the game, but Greg is planning on having the option to have more in the game.

 

I did do a game where the Imps only had Vics I & II, ISD I & II, SSD, Sovereign, Eclipse and DSII though. That was pretty fun, but then myt game crashed. I don't think it was because of the models though. I hope.

Mask: Hehe, always used the German version. Would explain me finding nothing new for quite some time... :)

 

Right now, I' experiencing MANY crashes in tac mode, usually at the end of a battle. It has something to do with replaced models. I started switching around things for the TC and replaced the following:

Quasar Carrier - MC-80a

Corvette - MC-40

Medium Transport - Assault Frigate

Bulk Cruiser - Gunship

 

With the Imps just

Dreadnaught - Lancer Frigate

 

So now each side starts of with different ships, but somehow it causes crashes. Ideas?

Tsunami: never had these probs and my tactical battle surely look worse than those of anybody else. :wink: With all the finished, half-finished and sometimes plain-white models.

 

I once had a problem with including textures, if a ship used the same texture file for more than one of its three models, the game would crash. Did you do that maybe ? vakundok came to this idea, when I asked him about this phenomenon and after I took different names for the texture files the crashes at the end of the battles were gone.

 

 

Oh, btw: I've updated my page with a new model and 4 new fighters :D

 

The model's a textured and poly-reduced version of the Mc80b (thanks to a very talented XWA OPT creator, JM) and the fighters are: the X-wing, K-Wing, Tie V38 and the A9.

 

BE SURE TO READ THE TEXT FILE THAT'S INCLUDED WITH THE MC80B, OR THE TEXTURES MIGHT NOT WORK :!:
