Issue: Game Cannot find CD Rom (Windows 7 x64)

Through this board, I managed to overcome the 16-bit issue and get the proper files on the computer. However, now that I have it on there I can't actually get it to install. I double-click on the REBEXE and AUTORUN files and I get the same error message that the CD Rom is not there. One thing I did do that may be screwing things up is that I changed the "EncyLocation" and "TooBigLocation" to D instead of C, per the suggestion of another poster. That still hasn't helped matters.

 

Is there anyone who can help me with this? I am dying to play this game again.

It's time to stop playing with VM's and the CD and get a new working copy from Steam or GOG.com (see this post - viewtopic.php?f=2&t=28384 ). Then you can install it on any newer version of Windows from Windows 7 on up, and use it with RebEd too! I really appreciate the folks who worked so hard to come up with a 64 bit work around. That said, I firmly believe that it is much easier to install the game on a VM. If you have an old copy of Windows (Windows 95, 98, ME, 2000, or XP), you can download a free program like VMware Player or VirtualBox. Install the program of your choosing, pop in the old Windows CD, and create a new VM (virtual machine). It will load the old version of Windows, where you can install Rebellion without worrying about registry keys, 16bit installers, etc etc.

 

As for your specific question, I'm afraid I cannot help you. Perhaps someone else will see this and have an answer.

Most obvious question first, is your CD/DVD/BD drive D:? If not search and replace D: with E: or F: or whatever.

 

Second, Master_Xan is right, it's much too easy just to do a VM of XP 32-bit these days without all this hassle. Just do that.
