Guest Scathane Posted October 27, 2003 Posted October 27, 2003 As some of you may know, I've been trying to locate Korriban on Star Wars maps for some time now... The interesting thing is that the Unofficial Encyclopeda on TF.N says that: Korriban this remote planet was the seat of the ancient Sith race. Located across the galaxy from Cinnagar and Koros Minor, it was unknown to the Old Republic before the rise of Naga Sadow. It was to Korriban that the ancient Dark Jedi fled, after they were exiled by the Jedi Knights. Korriban was a desolate world which, under the pall of Sith magic, became more hellish and dangerous. The native life there was twisted by the Dark Side, and the ghosts of Sith Dark Lords roamed everywhere. The Sith Lords erected huge palaces and burial complexes, which honored not only the dead Lords but the current magicians as well. Exar Kun was led here by Freedon Nadd's spirit, in an effort to recover certain Sith manuscripts. The Emperor Palpatine often visited Korriban, to help him center himself in the Dark Side of the Force. The point is that the Koros System later became known as the Empress Teta System, which is just off Coruscant. So, what does across the galaxy from Coruscant mean? Should I interpret this as: 1. Juxtaposed to Coruscant at the other end of the deep core of the galaxy (say, near Khomm)?2. Juxtaposed to Coruscant at the other end of the galaxy (say, near the Moddell Sector)?3. Juxtaposed to Coruscant at the other end of the galaxy (say, near the Braxant Sector)?4. Some other location (please specify)? I've used Nav Computer as my reference map...
ElvisMiggell Posted October 27, 2003 Posted October 27, 2003 Hmmm, for the purposes of the map, put it in with Endor and Annaj. In the Moddell Sector. That would be what i'd do anyway. Elvismiggell. Strike me down and i will become more powerful than you can ever imagine... Nu kyr'adyc, shi taab'echaaj'la Not gone, merely marching far away
Paul Posted October 27, 2003 Posted October 27, 2003 On the new maps made up for Star Wars Galaxies and issued with the Star Wars Insiders magazine, you can find Korriban in/near The Corparate Sector Authority space. This area is located on the upper far right section of the map. This map came with my Star wars Insider magazine a few months ago, but as it is intended to be the Official map for the Galaxies game there should be copies avialable somewhere.I think it came with the issue that had Darth Vader doing some enlistment on the cover in the classic pose stating that the Empire needs YOU to sign up.- Grand Moff Conway
the_mask Posted October 27, 2003 Posted October 27, 2003 The big map from the DeAgostini Fact files also backs up Paul's directions. There Korribanis just "right" of Yavin & Toprawa and above Nam Chorios. About 5 times the distance betweenYavin and Korriban lies Elom and about the same distance and a bit north is the CorporateSector.Didn't you have the Fact files map, Scath ? I think you once posted a link to the Dutchversion of it. Does that map differ from the one on Nav-computer.com ? If so, I didn't notice any discrepancies. http://img147.imageshack.us/img147/5183/animated9pn.gifhttp://img146.imageshack.us/img146/1778/reloadedbannerdu8.gifhttp://www.swrebellion.com/images/banners/rebellionbanner02or6.gif
Guest Scathane Posted October 29, 2003 Posted October 29, 2003 Oops! I followed your directions and checked them on Nav Computer and there it is... Nav Computer already has Korriban located on the map... My bad...
the_mask Posted October 29, 2003 Posted October 29, 2003 You know what they say: It's a big galaxy Hey, only another 50 posts and I'm the next Warlord here http://img147.imageshack.us/img147/5183/animated9pn.gifhttp://img146.imageshack.us/img146/1778/reloadedbannerdu8.gifhttp://www.swrebellion.com/images/banners/rebellionbanner02or6.gif
Trejiuvanat Posted November 1, 2003 Posted November 1, 2003 Are you going to celebrate your 1500 posts in Korriban? Scath could be your navigator for that trip... As for discrepancies between the Fact Files and the Nav computer... there are none I can think of, but the guy at the nav-computer site has altered some of his theories to fit the fact files map. On the other hand the nav computer is more complete than the fact files... Sadly none of them has provided me with a tentative location of the Kanchen Sector... http://www.swrebellion.com/~jahled/Trej/banner.gif
the_mask Posted November 4, 2003 Posted November 4, 2003 Korriban ? Hmmm, that gives me an idea ... Priceless idea, Trej http://img147.imageshack.us/img147/5183/animated9pn.gifhttp://img146.imageshack.us/img146/1778/reloadedbannerdu8.gifhttp://www.swrebellion.com/images/banners/rebellionbanner02or6.gif

Trejiuvanat Posted November 5, 2003 Posted November 5, 2003 Xa Fel, Parkrik Major and some other. When reshaping the galaxy I used it to dump all the systems I didn't know where to put. That included:Qat ChrystacAlgarianPalahniKhuiuminChurbaGeneris LinuriI wound up putting it in the Mid Rim. I mailed the "Cartographer" at Nav-Computer.com, but he couldn't help me with it. http://www.swrebellion.com/~jahled/Trej/banner.gif

Trejiuvanat Posted November 6, 2003 Posted November 6, 2003 That's what the original REbellion map says. And that map is absolutely wrong....Qat Chrystac is supposed to be near Nkllon that's in the Expansion Region. Algarian: In the first planet in the systems the Empire created a Caamasi colony. That'd mean that it was well within the Empire. Mid Rim or Inner Rim perhaps. Palahni: AllI could find to this world was: a neutral planet known for its banks. "...a little crossroads planet with an overblown idea of their own importance." not very helpful. Churba: That'd be Mid RimGEneris: That's one of the tough one. An important Rebel communication center during the Rebellion, that'd suggest the Outer RIm, but it is also the main communication center to the Unknown REgions. Linuri is almost in the same situation as Palahni. http://www.swrebellion.com/~jahled/Trej/banner.gif
the_mask Posted November 6, 2003 Posted November 6, 2003 -10 Well, I didn't have the map with my at the uni, so I settled with what the entries in the CUSWE said. http://img147.imageshack.us/img147/5183/animated9pn.gifhttp://img146.imageshack.us/img146/1778/reloadedbannerdu8.gifhttp://www.swrebellion.com/images/banners/rebellionbanner02or6.gif
Trejiuvanat Posted November 7, 2003 Posted November 7, 2003 Yeah, the problem is that in that case the CUSWE relies on SWR which doesn't help much. http://www.swrebellion.com/~jahled/Trej/banner.gif
the_mask Posted November 10, 2003 Posted November 10, 2003 -7 It's weird, that we don't seem to be able to get a "complete" and correct map of the SW galaxy anywhere http://img147.imageshack.us/img147/5183/animated9pn.gifhttp://img146.imageshack.us/img146/1778/reloadedbannerdu8.gifhttp://www.swrebellion.com/images/banners/rebellionbanner02or6.gif
Trejiuvanat Posted November 10, 2003 Posted November 10, 2003 Perhaps I'll make another Outeer RIm sector instead of a Mid Rim one... http://www.swrebellion.com/~jahled/Trej/banner.gif
