Lord_La_forge Posted October 18, 2003 Posted October 18, 2003 Woo Yay indeed! I remember, I played the game first in '98..
Jahled Posted October 18, 2003 Posted October 18, 2003 I actually bought the game before I bought my first PC I liked the look of it so much...lent it to a mate to play untill I could afford a PC! Then when I got my PC it was the first game on it, and stayed right here ever since... Yay indeed! http://www.jahled.co.uk/smallmonkeywars.gif
ElvisMiggell Posted October 18, 2003 Posted October 18, 2003 I have a feeling my mate bought it when it first came out, certainly i've been playing it for a LONG time!!! Elvismiggell. Strike me down and i will become more powerful than you can ever imagine... Nu kyr'adyc, shi taab'echaaj'la Not gone, merely marching far away
Ric Posted October 19, 2003 Posted October 19, 2003 I have been playing the game, from let's say..........when it just came out.And that's a long, long time ago. R2D2 Where are You.
ElvisMiggell Posted October 19, 2003 Posted October 19, 2003 When did it come out? Elvismiggell. Strike me down and i will become more powerful than you can ever imagine... Nu kyr'adyc, shi taab'echaaj'la Not gone, merely marching far away
Monophonic Posted October 20, 2003 Posted October 20, 2003 The copyright on my CD is for 1994, but the game came out a bit after that... '96 I think? Well, two weeks before I bought it, anyway.
ElvisMiggell Posted October 20, 2003 Posted October 20, 2003 95 i think. Elvismiggell. Strike me down and i will become more powerful than you can ever imagine... Nu kyr'adyc, shi taab'echaaj'la Not gone, merely marching far away
Lord_La_forge Posted October 20, 2003 Posted October 20, 2003 94 is not possible as it requires Win95 with directx. It also uses Smacker video technology that has registration of 1996, and also it uses the soundtrack of "The Empire Strikes Back Special Edition" (the probe droid track of it) that was only made in 1997! I couldn't find my versions release date ( I have UK Supremacy version) but it's clear that is was released later then 97. I think it was released early 98.... Just for clearing things
Guest Scathane Posted October 20, 2003 Posted October 20, 2003 According to Gamespot, it was released on the 26th of February, 1998...
ElvisMiggell Posted October 21, 2003 Posted October 21, 2003 That late? Gosh, it feels like it's been around for years!!! Elvismiggell. Strike me down and i will become more powerful than you can ever imagine... Nu kyr'adyc, shi taab'echaaj'la Not gone, merely marching far away
Paul Posted October 21, 2003 Posted October 21, 2003 Yes it feels like I've had it for years as well. I actually shifted platforms from Macintosh computers to windows because Rebellion wasn't available for the Apple computers. So it was the first program loaded on to my new computer and every computer since then. I still play at least every couple of days and because of Rebed the game is customized to my version of how the Star Wars universe should be. Also the various incarnations of this site and the predicesors have helped keep my love of the game burning. I discovered the RebEd Card Guild site soon after I bought the game and got advice on how to make my own cards from people there including Eric-EW and of course Evaders99. Although I haven't made a new card in a while I still have a few that I never released which play a big part in my version of Rebellion. Well just a little bit on my thoughts about this great game.-Grand Moff Paul Conway
ElvisMiggell Posted October 21, 2003 Posted October 21, 2003 And which cards might they be? Elvismiggell. Strike me down and i will become more powerful than you can ever imagine... Nu kyr'adyc, shi taab'echaaj'la Not gone, merely marching far away
Lord_La_forge Posted October 21, 2003 Posted October 21, 2003 Well Star Wars Universe is a bit subjective too Like Paul, I also have cards I never released. How could I do that? Release the card of Empress Siu Lung. I used my girlfriends photo for that card Everybody has his own little (Star Wars) Universe inside...
Ric Posted October 22, 2003 Posted October 22, 2003 Your right about that. Our own little fantasie world, full of our own ideas and........., well every thing we want. R2D2 Where are You.
Lord_La_forge Posted October 22, 2003 Posted October 22, 2003 Yes. And that's the reason a game like Rebellion can still have so many fans after all these years...
glandry Posted October 23, 2003 Posted October 23, 2003 And which cards might they be? Based on some of Paul's cards that I've seen, I would like to live in his Empire!!
Jahled Posted October 25, 2003 Posted October 25, 2003 The curious affection we retain for Rebellion/Supremacy was a factor I was on the verge of suggesting a Homepage Poll about... Why do we all love a game that is so obviously dated? But I think you guys sort of just touched it square on the head! How many other game titles do you know where you get to build fleets of Star Destroyers, pack them full of Stormtroopers, and deploy characters you can create yourself? Recreate the galaxy with Resource Hacker to how you perceive the Star Wars universe, tinker with this and that; the options available with RebEd are staggering! But combine that with what's massing in the downloads section and our games' are moving through quiet revolutions. All that, and I sort of know more than a guess, we ain't seen nothin' yet! http://www.jahled.co.uk/smallmonkeywars.gif
Paul Posted October 25, 2003 Posted October 25, 2003 Thanks for apreciating my cards Glandry, you would be a welcome visitor to my universe. As to your question Elvis there are a few that I use always that for one reason or another just never got posted. A couple use pictures of aquaintances who don't want their faces posted. I actually have lists of my cards and what slots they best fit in, my favorites are on the Emperor Conway game list.-Grand Moff Conway
Trejiuvanat Posted November 1, 2003 Posted November 1, 2003 I got the game in late 99, it was my birthday present when i turned 14, at first I couldn't play it for some months, then I played on my mothers office computer... I have been playing for four years, and hardly get bored. I doubt I'll get bored, especially now iwht the new cards... http://www.swrebellion.com/~jahled/Trej/banner.gif
wormie Posted November 2, 2003 Posted November 2, 2003 I first got the game in 99 as well. In my first as the Alliance, Chewie was found out to be Force Sensitive. Unfortunatly, the computer I had then was a piece of crap, and it broke down. I had to wat a year before I could play it on a regular basis again, and alas, I have never had Chewie as a FS again Lost a planet Master Obi-Wan has, how embarrassing. - Yoda Do not count a human dead until you've seen his body, and even then you can make a mistake. - Bene Gesserit saying
