PFF Concept?

Recommended Posts

For the website redevlopment, I have to ask... What is the concept behind PFF? Is it this "Gamers Revolution" that Cain wanted? What is a "Gamers Revolution"?

Ultimately there must be a concept and a reason for people to visit the site. What makes this different from any other gaming site.. say sites like Gamespot, Gamespy, Shacknews, etc? Those sites really do get reviews and concept before most everyone else.

From what I can tell of the forums categories right now, it is a hodge-podge of different things with few forums having but a few threads.

I would say the majority of us would be RTS gamers, but the concept behind that seems to be well-done already.

The site http://www.rtscommunity.com is one of the better models for a concept, and implementing it well with content.

First off it was the first forums/community to pop up while waiting for Petroglyph's EAW. Then later FoC and now UaW. Its high point was before, during and slightly after EaW. This may sound corny but I think us regulars that are still around since when the forums first opened up and welcome Petroglyph (now stabbed in the back with lack of support) we should remind the community it was the first. Sounds corny doesn't but its true. Common if you were here from the beginning you know how much PFF has done to the community and being betrayed by Petroglyph isn't really that.

Also for the site I think it should hold EaW, FoC, and UaW content made by PFF regulars (something like a Wiki but PFF style). PFF site to also host screenshots of the week and vote, videos hosted on youtube and google being embeded into the page of video of the week? Then a whole page of mod units found here: http://pff.swrebellion.com/index.php?topic=3448.0

Ok so it wasn't really answered properly but hope you got the point from my point of view. Fosh do you have anything to say?

edit: Gats says what I said also that we were the first and should be recognized as the first and that we been betrayed by Petroglyph.

I certainly know the history behind it, but I really don't think you want to market PFF as "the site that got screwed by Petroglyph"

While people will certainly recognize you for the post, that really won't attract any new visitors or sustain visits from the current ones. You can remind them that the site is here all you want.. but unless they are interested in the site, they aren't going to post.

I'm guessing you're going to stick with Petrogrlyph content right now? Who's gong to be managing this?

What is going to be written.. and who does what?

I'm guessing a model you may want to use is Relic. They're fan site is great.. a forum so active that Relic is using them as their official forums.

Ok then mainly follow up on Petroglyph games and follow any other games that the community is interested in and follow it. However the members have to be fully participated in it and add/remove content.  ::) I donno they submit their .html pages and if its newbish it'll get polish up by the higher up or something. I'd be willing to start it , continue it, and see how far it goes. If all else fails then accept PFF's defeat but that won't be until we tried everything.

Damn wheres Fosh when you need him. If you wanna talk about this add me to MSN and let me know who you are since random people add me at times.

This site doesn't appear on the top of search engines for "Empire at War", "Petroglyph" or anything.

Can we do better than http://www.petro-gamers.com ?

I hate sounding so vague, well if we do decide to make a site i'm not sure how successful it would be or how much better. Oh and thanks for adding the skin.

Lets see, Petroglyph games comes first then one favourite game section from the moderation team. For example you would choose a game like uh.....Halo 3 and do reviews, screens, and movies (linkes from youtube or where ever) and any mods for Petroglyph? Something like Little.B done with his German site and it could work if enough effort has been put into it. If you missed what I said then host Petroglyph stuff and the moderating team would choose their one none Petroglyph game doing  reviews on it. Only an idea though.
