VileMrrrgh Posted April 3, 2006 Posted April 3, 2006 (edited) ok, do I need photoshop to be able to do more advanced modding than XML editting??? If so, why and what for?? Edited April 4, 2006 by Cain
FormulaRedline Posted April 3, 2006 Posted April 3, 2006 You need photoshop to edit skins and icons. Skins are textures that go over models in the game, for everything from troops to ships to planets. Icons are the, well, icons in the game. Right now we are limited to re-skinning existing models, or copies of those models if you do some hex editing. Victory Mod - Space Ships in Land BattlesLegacy of War - Staff Member
VileMrrrgh Posted April 4, 2006 Author Posted April 4, 2006 would photoshop starter edition 2.0 work sufficient?
Athanasios Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 Personally i use Adobe Photoshop CS2, but starter edition should do the job too. The problems with some textures are that they have alpha channels etc, that might confuse a beginner. I suggest you work on "simple" textures first, then head for the more advanced. I think there's a sticked tutorial for .dds editing. You'll also need Nvidia's plugins for this extension which can be found here.
