Ar-Bee Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 need to get a loss i smashed this guy, bishop something, smashed his base, he jumped in a few star fighters to prolong the game just enough to disconnect his computer, just because i managed to get map control, and deny him anything besides y-wings. i was teir 4 and had VSDs and he disconnects on me JUST as soon as i was about to win. wtf is this, all d/cers regardless of whether it was for legitimate reasons or just because they didnt want the other person to get a win, or dont wanna ruin their score, just alt-f4 or press their reset button? or when the syncc error occurs, that person needs to get a loss. the kick button doesnt even work, we need that to boot them out, therefore allowing us to get a win and prevent f**kers like that to get away with it its really annoying when its on a 1vs 1 space compeitive ladder. every win counts. and sh*theads like that ruin the game for everyone. Garbageben Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 As much as I hate to say it there is almost nothing that can be done about it. Short of giving disconnectors an automatic loss (even if their computer locks up on accident or something) there is little to no way of stopping people from quitting when they know they are going to lose. Their online record and reputation matters more to them than integrity. I personally stick things out no matter what and don't bother to worry about unimportant things as online records (you could play easy competition and be 50-0 and still be worse than someone who plays challenging people and is 0-50). Anyway my 2 cents is that you'll run into disconnectors in almost every game that pits you versus an opponent (RTS and sports). http://miniprofile.xfire.com/bg/sh/type/0/garbageben.png
Uzi Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 The same thing occurred for Battle for Middle Earth. But after about 3 patches, the designers finally saw sense and counted every d/c as a loss. It worked a lot better.
Holly-Gan Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 I have ran into a few Synch errors too online.. anyone from back the Yuri's Revenge/RA2 error should know what that mean.. :-\ This is my sig. There are many like it, but this one is mine.http://www.petrolution.net/PetrolutionButton.gifhttp://miniprofile.xfire.com/bg/bg/type/2/hollygun.png

Thought you were going to say "They wouldn't let the person losing leave to actually prove he lost and not ruin the full game" or something along those lines. I did something opposite of what the disconnectors did which was very weird. I made a new name to join noobie games to see how they play and everything went fine until I reach their base to attack them. Lag spike. I continued attacking their base thinking "where the hell are they". Nothing just turrets and a stormtrooper group. They got booted out of the game ??? -One Empire falls another riseshttp://myanimelist.net/signature/EuroSubstance.png http://miniprofile.xfire.com/bg/os/type/2/ghostlysubstance.png

Zer_Teron Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 Ive played quite a few games online, but havnt run into any scum like this. I remember this from Generals Online, its a pretty stupid and annoying tactic. I personally keep playing till the end, i dont care whether i lose. Its the experiance you gain from it that counts. http://img20.imageshack.us/img20/3488/zersigef1.jpg
Darkmark Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 Yeah, in my opinion they should get a loss. I know this is hard on all those who have genuine connectivity problems, but consider it like a contagious disease. Once one person disconnects without a loss, the one that experienced that considers the possibility of doing it themselves. It spreads, before long half the people online do it. The d/c = loss is like the vaccine. People (not all of them, but the majority) stop when they realise they gain nothing from it. I haven't yet experienced this with EAW either, but that's only because I haven't had the time for many games, and because the d/c = null game thing probably isn't well known for all those new to the game. If given time, this *could* easily change. Should be fixed, asap. Dorkthehunter Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 I always had the problem that I had to leave before I could end the game in BFME, and then I would get a loss. But I would never ever quit if I had the time to play it. Even if I was losing, I would fight to the death, sometimes I could even win that way. I think that quitters are dumb and should not play. I also think that some people have to leave, but are not quitting because they are losing. I have been assaulting someone's base, and then I had to leave, so I lost. I didn't like that. Just write down the names of people that quit when they were losing and don't play them again. It's really that simple. Protecting the world from those who have an IQ higher than 30! Huzzah!
