Iamme Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 I'm a little confused right now. My modified xmls are being noticed by the game (box comes up to reinit when they're modified) but none of them seem to be having an affect, campaign or skirmish. Is this happening to anybody else? PS: Has anybody found commands recognized by the console?
DragonShadow Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 I haven't gotten any xml changes to take effect yet (what happened to easy moddability?), and I tried about 30 basic commands in the console and none worked... http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h65/NightshadowDragon/RyuuKageSIG.jpg http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h65/NightshadowDragon/AoSW-JCW_Banner.jpg
Mistrider Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 I got all my changes to work. it appears you may have to start a new game to have the changes you have made since a particular save work(ie. no changing ship stats halfway through the campaign) And when he reaches Heaven,To St. Peter he will tell,"Just another soldier reporting Sir,I've served my time in Hell."

PipfunatUT Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 i think you might still be trying to change the demo's XML... make sure it is deleted... i cant find an XML editor for the full game thou I'm prob wrong though because i know next to little about modding.. hook'em
DragonShadow Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 Nope. I deleted every demo-related file except my modded ones to use as a reference for changing the full-version ones. The modified files are extracted right out of the full version's config file, edited, and then tossed in the data folder. They just don't do anything... http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h65/NightshadowDragon/RyuuKageSIG.jpg http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h65/NightshadowDragon/AoSW-JCW_Banner.jpg
PipfunatUT Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 this is just tossing shit in the air, but maybe you have to make entirely new "map" folder and then go to that... maybe there is a fail safe so xml's don't affect the main game. I don't know, i don't really care right now I'm kinda drunk and just waiting for some coed hoe to get over... but until this peace bro hook'em
Iamme Posted February 18, 2006 Author Posted February 18, 2006 Something I just remembered: Modifying factions.xml worked for upping the unit caps, but still nothing actually custom :-\
Quickshot14_pff Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 Heya all, I wanted to share my theroy and why some xml files seem to be changed properly and some arn't. Now i cant exactly test this (don't have the full game yet, grrrrrr come on money) but when i was poking around the demo xml files a while back i noticed an xml file that seemed to tell the eaw to look for certian xml files. ie weather to look in megs only or the path then the meg file. The reason I mention this file is because i noticed it said or had a comment that not needed for demo since not all meg content is present or something to that effect. I'm entirely parphrasing from what i rember i'll look into the demo meg files again and see if i can find it again and let you all know. In the mean time take a look and see if you can find one, sooner or latter one of us should come up with something, i'll check more on it again and report back.
MajorPayne Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 Strange. I enahanced the rebel side quite alot for the campaign and the game still loaded and worked with the new changes I put it (the level with Han and chewie have to navigate around the city is a pain to complete otherwise).
akulapanam Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 You have to restart the game inbetween , but thus far I haveAdded new shipsAdded new hardpoints to shipsChanged ship statsAdded New companiesAdd a New ConquestModified Planets All by extracting and changing the .XML files.
kingdark Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 i am having the same problem, i just want to increase the space battles to hold 50pop per battle in the rebel/imperial campagin, but to no effect, do you need to cut the config file somewher? NONE of my changes work, and yes, i pacthed up completely and trie to start a new campagin.ps, i just changed it in factions the max space battle do you need to change it somewhere else too? to have effect in the main campaign? http://miniprofile.xfire.com/bg/os/type/0/kingdark.png
MajorPayne Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 Akula. I did a test concerning changes as I'm playing and it works fine as long as you don't mess up anything (which crashes the game). The game responds with a warning when you demimise it after making any changes whether you want to reload the files, so you should be fine.
akulapanam Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 Don't forget that their is also a patch.meg file that you should look at as well.

Where did you put those files? And did you change the names or leave them as DATA%XML%whatever? http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h65/NightshadowDragon/RyuuKageSIG.jpg http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h65/NightshadowDragon/AoSW-JCW_Banner.jpg
Pegmaker Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 I put the confg.meg file in my editor program then took out the xml sections with copy and paste and just saved them as new xml files. then put them in my xml folder which as to be made, so it looks like.
