sagboy Posted February 15, 2006 Posted February 15, 2006 Okay thought I would stop by my local EB games and see if they had the game in early, which they did which was freaking saweet, so I bought it and took it home and loaded it up only to be greated by this msg "A required security module can not be activated. This program can not be executed." So I check to see what I had running, which was literally nothing. I uninstalled Dtools, made sure ntohing else was running other than essential windows components, and I still get the error. I tried putting the shortcut into compatablity mode of win 2000 but I still get the error. Im kinda pissed off right now. Hear I spent 50 bucks on a game in which there own damn copy protection isnt even allowing me to play it. Keep in mind I dont have anything running or installed that would mess with copy protection like alcohol 120 or anything like that.
Foshjedi2004 Posted February 15, 2006 Posted February 15, 2006 HAHAHA. They have a time lock on it http://i199.photobucket.com/albums/aa197/knivesdamaster/tags/sith_omguserbar_member.jpg

sagboy Posted February 15, 2006 Author Posted February 15, 2006 okay serious answers only please, because that isnt it. Its a secur com bullshit protection issue
WhiteSkull Posted February 16, 2006 Posted February 16, 2006 unplug your net and try if that dont work your dvd/cd drive etc.. is having problems with the protection system.
Teradyn_pff Posted February 16, 2006 Posted February 16, 2006 SecureRom you say? I haven't heard of these issues with that particular protection. My Death Star is bigger than your Death Star!"The XML is strong with this one!"http://miniprofile.xfire.com/bg/bg/type/0/teradyn.png
vasuba_pff Posted February 16, 2006 Posted February 16, 2006 If you have programs such as daemon tools or other virtual drive programs running that error will pop up. turn off virutal drives and boom it will work
sagboy Posted February 16, 2006 Author Posted February 16, 2006 Im sry and I dont mean to be rude, but you did you even read my post? I had said that I didnt have any Dtools software installed so that would include any virtual drives to intefere with securecom. Ill try that unplugging from the net but I doubt thats going to do anything. Just fustrates ya when you pay for a product and cant use it..... thanks for the replys though and sry if I come off as rude, just mad rightn now

Do you have any burning programs like alcohol 120 or anything?

vasuba_pff Posted February 16, 2006 Posted February 16, 2006 The fact is Lucasarts has stated the error will only popup if some sort of Virtual drive or other piracy potential application is running. So he has to have something going as its part of the program to detect such items
sagboy Posted February 16, 2006 Author Posted February 16, 2006 One, they arent piracy programs, and two Im a computer science major so I think I should know if I have a program installed or not and what I am running on my box. I find it a little ridiculous for a copmany to release a software with such shitty software protection when a cunsomer buys a copy and cant even play it. Other than the required services being run by windows there is nothing running, I have even tried this on a fresh install of windows....
WhiteSkull Posted February 16, 2006 Posted February 16, 2006 its your drive then, there are rare case's when the protection systems like securerom and starforce etc.. just wont read right in the cd/dvd crd etc.. drives it is rare but does happen.
sagboy Posted February 16, 2006 Author Posted February 16, 2006 Eh I tried both my drives and neither work
WhiteSkull Posted February 16, 2006 Posted February 16, 2006 try downloading the patch then running the game to see if it works?
sagboy Posted February 16, 2006 Author Posted February 16, 2006 still no go.... sigh even ran a registry mechanic to clean things up a bit
WhiteSkull Posted February 16, 2006 Posted February 16, 2006 man that does suck either bad disk or it dont like your drivers is only thing i can think off sorry.
sagboy Posted February 16, 2006 Author Posted February 16, 2006 Yeah disks are fine, installed it on another system ran fine.... sigh oh well
WhiteSkull Posted February 16, 2006 Posted February 16, 2006 well if it worked on your other system fine you might try exchange the main drive and testing that (if you know how) to see if its the drives or not.
sagboy Posted February 16, 2006 Author Posted February 16, 2006 Drive wouldnt effect it, having a sneaky suspicsion that somthing is lingering in the registery that it isnt liking.
MD351 Posted February 16, 2006 Posted February 16, 2006 Drive wouldnt effect it, having a sneaky suspicsion that somthing is lingering in the registery that it isnt liking. He said he tried it on another system and worked fine, and he also stated he did a fresh install.
Necro Posted February 16, 2006 Posted February 16, 2006 i have daemon tools (for legit purposes!) and most games that use securom work fine as long as u got the legit cd, if not there are ways to get around it (say u lost ur cd and had to use a backup thru daemon tools) but for legal reasons i probably cant go thru it here
