the_mask
by the way, how to you get imgs on the post. When you write a new post you might notice the buttons above the box where you write your text into. The second to the left is called Img. You just click it once, insert an URL and click on it another time to close the tag. Although you shouldn't do that at all. We had serious problems months ago with too much "live" pictures posted. Try inserting a hyperlink rather. You can use the following format: link text goes here http://img147.imageshack.us/img147/5183/animated9pn.gifhttp://img146.imageshack.us/img146/1778/reloadedbannerdu8.gifhttp://www.swrebellion.com/images/banners/rebellionbanner02or6.gif
Jahled
Indeedy Maskiness... when I post gibberish images it appears in blue lettering by default... indicating something inane is to be clicked upon... Posting direct images does cause tremendous strain on the site, not least the downlaod speeds for all of us here, but the places you're hosting the image from/hyjacking the image from... so a hyperlink is better... http://www.jahled.co.uk/smallmonkeywars.gif

kaja
No prob LLF, your good a Characters. On the other hand I suck at Characters and troops, But i'm kinda good at Ships and Fighters, I'd Post the TIE Beastins Series but I'm to lazy to creat a 200 x 100 pic so I can post it http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s152/Dave-Mastor/Cluster6.jpg
Jahled
It's bloody easy if your using Photoshop, Kaja dude! Simply resize your main image to 200 x 100, and save as ready for the web! Bon! As my girlfriend keeps saying to me. All that and Evaders will have something to upload! http://www.jahled.co.uk/smallmonkeywars.gif
Lord_La_forge
So. I'm here again with another character, and I need your help, hardcore SW fans! This guy is Rukh, the famous noghri. I only know few things about the guy (thing I read about him on starwars.com)..This is a beta version of him, so please comment it as long as you can I need some plus info about him, his personality, and some ideas for my sollution. What is wrong about the drawing, what should dominate and what not... I used the comic scan, presented on sw.com for source. I only had that one image. http://groups.msn.com/_Secure/0RADmApYU0cucZONgVthc69pFoHw94MtwVQvb3KWRDiKdIDN9t4kUODf7vDrZxalSorWJlSYhqFNip7GRaoC0NflohX56UosgEKuPtBbgZdI/rukh-pre.jpg?dc=4675449503189904169
Jahled
Promising. The text I can help with not. Any of you well read Thrawn dudes got anything that could fit into Vader's card text? If you have, or you feel you can; whack it here! Along similar lines; we're going to need similar images of Nogri for other stuff in the TC, anyone got any good stuff? http://www.jahled.co.uk/smallmonkeywars.gif
Trejiuvanat
I can help with the text, also I made a couple of Noghri cards a while ago... There are few good images of Noghri out there and it seems as if the things have a personality crisis, every comic artist keepes drawing them differently. I'll write the text and send you the card and/or pics. http://www.swrebellion.com/~jahled/Trej/banner.gif
Lord_La_forge
I used the hints you gave to me, so I changed the guy a bit. Trejs pictures were a great help for the painting. I think I'm getting closer.. Guest JediIgor
Looks very nice; could you please point me to where you give directions step by step on how to turn a photo into something that resembles a drawing? Or maybe make an action out of it? This would greatly bolster the card-making effort!
Trejiuvanat
Could the clothing be changed??... Somehow Rukh looks like the Hunchback from Notredame http://www.swrebellion.com/~jahled/Trej/banner.gif
Lord_La_forge
Really! I see it now too. Sure. But I used this clothing, because it was on sw.com : rukh
Lord_La_forge
My first step was to cut off his head. I rotated it and closed his mouth. I redrawed it with brushes. Then I created shadows on his skin with the burn tool. I wanted to make it more realistic, to have a reborn Rukh between comics and reality. I used the clone stamp tool for his clothing. The base was the torso of the Obi Van card. I stamped Rukhs clothing on it taken from the comic picture. Then I smudged it a bit, and used the burn tool to create some shadows... Many details were lost by the face, so I used my imagination, and repainted some things on it with black brush (low oppacity) and the burn tool. I think it's too "old" now. Very evil and scary, not really dangerous looking however.

the_mask
Great, dude. It's almost as if he's eyeing you, while deciding on wether to fling his knifes or just keep staring menacingly. I think that's pretty close to Rukh's character from the books. http://img147.imageshack.us/img147/5183/animated9pn.gifhttp://img146.imageshack.us/img146/1778/reloadedbannerdu8.gifhttp://www.swrebellion.com/images/banners/rebellionbanner02or6.gif

Lord_La_forge
Some tips for Character card development: The characters "extra pic" should be done first. If it's done, you should convert it to bmp format using the palette. Only then, the status, on-ship, fleet pics. Be sure, that you are scaling the bmp format in photoshop for the smaller images (do not scale them in rgb, they will look blurry. The enc pic should be the last one. Open the "extra pic" (character before blue back). You must be in indexed color mode (bmp-palette). DON'T import the background in rgb mode, because it will cause all characters enc pic differing from another, since it would be converted again in bmp, even it's quality would be worser Select the background, and copy it(ctrl-c). Switch back to the extra pic. Select the blue territory (only that). Then select Edit-Paste into. Since the backs are in right size, Photoshop will place it propely behind your guy. There will be some pixels around your character, that will look odd before the background (like brighter pixels, or some blue pixels remaining from the previous stage). You should fix that, staying in indexed color mode pixel-by-pixel. Use the color picker, and the pencil tool for this. If you have any questions, just ask it here, and I will try to answer you.. Good Luck!
Cain
Nope I do it different Take for ex the .jpg photo . convert in 24 bit .bmp by changing the termination from jpg in a bmp. Open Win Paint and crop the Pic in a black background , just color around the pic a black background . Save a blue background with Encyc photo ,and the other 3 ones secondary ( build/stats/fleet/tactical) Open a Photo program ( I prefer ACDC ) ...then open the first one the ex. jpg now a 24 bit color bmp on a black background. Also open the other 4 pics. You will have now 5 windows in the same program. Colorize the 4 rebellion photos in the same blue , that is simple. Remember to let the windows open. Go to the Character on background , give a magic wand on the black background ( it will select the character ,give invert selection and copy) : Arrow: Then go to the 4 reb pics and give paste / new selection/ resize. The program will automatically transform in a 256/256 rebellion palette. Then save as a bmp. Or simply press save. the old reb pic will be overwritten. maybe you will need some small pixel fixing ....and is done. Remember for the pic to incorporate the black background in rebellion you must make a blue pixel in the left down corner....that is how I do it - The Trivium Organization - Community Manager -- Petroglyph Fan Forums - CoAdmin & Human Resources Manager -
