dw333 Posted January 30, 2006 Posted January 30, 2006 (edited) there are only 26 slots available to build in both space and ground catagories. can this be increased, or is it fixed? I could try adding 27 units, duplicating an xwing maybe until i have 26 slots used up, thenaddding another one and seeing if the game crashes or it places it somewhere else, maybe adding a scroll bar (if programmed in already, though i doubt)? any ideas... I believe you mean population, and if you get more planets, you get more population. If you have a clone and a droid, who will win?The clone, of course!http://miniprofile.xfire.com/bg/sf/type/0/callaghan.png
tibmaker Posted January 30, 2006 Posted January 30, 2006 If you mean as in the menu slots available, this game is capable of supported unlimited. However, this would be one hell of a GUI coding challenge to do lol. It'd require a lot of image and menu editing to pull off. http://www.bfpexpansion.com/tibmaker.jpghttp://www.federationstudios.net/factions/banners/tibmaker.jpg
dw333 Posted January 30, 2006 Author Posted January 30, 2006 i mean in the purchasing window, there are 26 slots... this would limit the amount of units you have to build to 26 space and ground unless you only allow some units to be built at certain planets, not just certain station levels ( i plan to change the planet station level to 5 for all planets, but the price of a level 5 station would need to be expensive. also, i dont like a population cap, so all units use only 0-1 depending on unit, all ground use 0, most ships use 0 as well.also, all planets can now build 9 structures, you could set it to more, but you then cant see the structures beyond 9.if i could only change the ground units limit to above 10, but it looks that even if you could there is only enough space for 4 more. dw333 Posted January 30, 2006 Author Posted January 30, 2006 ok so when i add all the imperial units to the rebel build menu, my fighters can't be built at higher level stations?... but i can build isd, vsd, etc, just no fighter class units rebel or imperial, only when its a level1-2 station??? Muppster Posted January 30, 2006 Posted January 30, 2006 In the case of the ground units, after increasing the ground unit max cap, any more than 10 units are present but hidden - you can't see them on the planet view in the Galactic map. I suspect that all the other things you mention are present but hidden. Lack of a scroll function on the build menu does appear to mean that only 13 ground and 13 space build icons will be able to be selected. Your fighters probably can be built at higher level space stations, you just can't select them - whereas the ai probably does not have this restriction. The only mention I have seen of scroll in the files is to do with dialogue options. -=M=-
tibmaker Posted January 30, 2006 Posted January 30, 2006 Like stated above, then yes. You can go unlimited. However, you need to create these slots within the GUI and other coding. http://www.bfpexpansion.com/tibmaker.jpghttp://www.federationstudios.net/factions/banners/tibmaker.jpg
Muppster Posted January 31, 2006 Posted January 31, 2006 (edited) Okay after playing a little with the interface, my initial thoughts were that the in GameConstants.XML would change the number of icons on the build/unit menu. Unfortunately it seems to have no impact even with halving the size of the icons > So it looks like we might be stuck with 13 column's. However we can make it so that fighters for instance show up on the bottom row rather than the top row of the build interface, which means that we can have more than 13 units selectable for building. It might not be as pretty but means we can have up to 26 units for building minus any structures available for building. This is achieved by changing the for 1 to 0 in the relevant unit file (Squadron.XML for fighters etc). 1 is the top GUI line, and 0 the bottom. Edit: Having looked further, there is reference to production scroll bars for right and left, so hopefully production scrolling is just omitted from the demo, but as the final product doesn't require production scrolling I wouldn't expect it to be included. -=M=- Edited January 31, 2006 by Muppster
dw333 Posted January 31, 2006 Author Posted January 31, 2006 thanks and gj, ill play around with it a little more as well... Dan WilliamsMod Project : Star Wars - Civil War (v0.3)
tibmaker Posted January 31, 2006 Posted January 31, 2006 (edited) Okay, I think I stated that this is not in XML alone lol. Look in the .rc file and add a couple statements that go along with the SQL*rofl I meant XML coding. DragonShadow Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 Units you build on the ground occupy one of the eight slots, and once those slots are filled, they go automatically up to space. However, in the fleet tabs, every unit put up there stacks on identical units, so twenty ISDs take up the same two slots one ISD does. And five DSs take up the same four slots as one DS does...fun......... http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h65/NightshadowDragon/RyuuKageSIG.jpg http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h65/NightshadowDragon/AoSW-JCW_Banner.jpg
Quickshot14_pff Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 I noticed that it does add it to the gui it just kind goes off what you can see, i may be wrong but it seems to me all is missing is some sort of scroll bar or the sort it's possible in the demo build they removed/didn't add or disabled a scroll bar or something like it. for instance say this is an item on the bar: 0 and this is the bar visible border ||000000000|0 how do i know this? add items to a row the ground row with the sheild generator is a great way to see this. fill it up. Then build the sheild genreator when you do that it's item disapears you will notice that it gets replaced with the ones that were following it. any items that were off the visible border like in my example above can now be seen and selected. This is why i belive all is missing is a scroll bar of some sort. Anwyayz just thought i'd share my thoughts about it.
Teradyn_pff Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 I still think it is wierd that if their design was data driven and moddable that they wouldn't allow for extra units. If they had 50+ models rejected by LA wouldn't they have designed the UI with more than the current limit in mind? Maybe they finalized it after they locked down the unit list, but I don't know. NOT Hadoken13 Posted February 4, 2006 Posted February 4, 2006 reading the official site there are 25 buildable structures alone for the imperials...so there has to be a scroll option of some sort that wasn't included in the demo version my EAW online screen name [PFF]HAdoken13
Megajames Posted February 4, 2006 Posted February 4, 2006 some of them are build pads however Evacuate, in our moment of triumph. I think you overestimate their chances.
