What were your expectations?

When you first heard that about EAW how did you feel? At the present rate have your expectations risen? lowered? stayed the same?

I expected a lot. and yeah well I don't know. I guess they have lowered but what really matters in games generally is how long you play till you get bored. ))

 

the rest I hope can me modded in or in an expansion... for some reason I get the feeling though petro has said it will be very moddable, it won't be so much so that lucas makes an expansion... for well more money.

Well when I FIRST heard about this was in Febuary on gamespot. I saw Stormtroopers and AT-AT (First pictures ever released). Downloaded the video and played it over and over.

 

I had the feeling is what you capture is what you have until its gone and transport them to other planets. You couldn't build more units. At first it just looked like a weird Star Wars game made by some company which was 3d. From the video POV again, no resource collecting and able to take over more then one planet caught my attention. Expectation was VERY HIGH because of the new screens I saw (old now)

 

Seems like this game evolved and is still great or maybe better from what i'm thinking right now. Bad part is what Lucasarts is doing.

I expected much more and was mislead by false advertising(e.g. showing things that are in ESB like AT-AT and Air Speeders) and now everytime I see that a new preview is released all I think is: Damn what else is going to be cut? or what else have they been hiding?I'm tried to keep optimistic about the game but it is becoming increasingly difficult to do so with each new preview. What's next?The ISD being cut because it is too early for it to be developed?

 

*Note* My frustration is with LA and none of it is directed at Petro.

I expected a lot, and still expect a lot. This game is truely turning out to be the RTS of my dreams. Mixing Star Wars and real-time strategy is always a great mix, but it is not always executed to it's full potential (A.K.A. Force Commander and Rebellion). Although there have been some disapointments, I still have high hopes for this game, and I fail to see why some people think otherwise. If you're thinking mods are going to "save" the game, you're terribly mistaken because there's nothing that needs saving! The game is going to be great, no matter what. Not even all the pessimism and complaining in the world is going to stop this from becoming one of the best RTS games of all time. Period.

You're right there is nothing that needs saving. But there is plenty that needs to be added or modified.

No...I say allow Petroglyph to finish and publish EAW on their own: No Restrictions, No Delays, Nothing. I wonder what it would be like if Petroglyph broke off its chains from LEC and designed, developed, and published the game. (insperation from U.S. in 1776)

the main thing is they couldnt do that as they have only been given the oportunity to design and make the game they have no name rights so therefore if that were to happen you would not have a starwars game at all

Exactly, and this is the main problem. A publisher can have some say in a game, but nothing like a license holder can, and LEC has shown that they will screw with every piece that they can to try to make sure that they get the most money out of the project.

my expectations were low when I saw the first screens (storm trooper with the black toilet paper tube) but my respect for this game has steadily risen

the first thing and only thing that i am dissapointed with in this game is the removal of the venator.....(yes i have finally accepted the truth)

i have some complaints yes, but they are simple little things that have no real effect on game play (ie. the Assault frigate mk2 should just be a normal assault frigate makes no difference i just like the old one better)

this game will be awesome and will change the way rts's are made...for the better
