Guest Posted December 4, 2005 Share Posted December 4, 2005 Hi all....I have a question that may have already been answered but I can't seem to find it in the sea of topics so here it goes....in games such as Tie Fighter or X-Wing, Y-Wings and Tie Bombers were able to be used in anti-starfighter roles. Granted their main purpose was to bomb Capital Ships and the like, will they be able to attack other starfighters? If this quesstion is still unknown then so be it and if it has already been asked I apologize for asking. Thanks for looking and answering! Guest Posted December 4, 2005 Share Posted December 4, 2005 I know its not a good comparison, but in Galactic Battlegrounds I think the bombers were unable to attack other starfighters so I was unsure as to whether or not that would continue as a trend to this game. It just means that they have enough capacity of firepower to deliver large damage to the enemy. Y-wings and B-wings had large quantities of proton torpedos, and heavy firepower, they didn't often use bombs. besides, it would be kinda awkward dropping bombs in space, since these freefall objects won't be working in zero-gravity . Darkmark Posted December 4, 2005 Share Posted December 4, 2005 They should be able to shoot, just not take out fighters easily. Like 1 x-wing = a whole squad of tie-bombers, for example. Y-Wings and Tie-Bombers did have weaponry for taking down other fighters, they were just built with other purposes in mind. This isn't Galactic Battlegrounds, Petroglyph will do as they see fit with the bombing craft. I fail to see how light firepower of bombers vs. fighters would hinder gameplay though, if anything it makes sense for them to have that ability. Phantom_pff Posted December 4, 2005 Share Posted December 4, 2005 Well if you think about it, before the x-wing came into the rebels position, their main are craft was the y-wing (and maybe the headhunter) is i assume they would have the ability to attack fighters, but they would be at a disadvantage, because the fighters are probably better at fighting bombers. Ghostly_Substance Posted December 5, 2005 Share Posted December 5, 2005 It was better for multiplayer since AI just builds anywhere without checking where you are or what you do. It only gave me resources when I needed and thats about it. Oh and when my ai friend attacked then I did since the ai enemy got weakened. Before you say i'm weak then think about this, rather attack when they're strong or weak? Not that i'm a coward but to save units for another fight. Well Bombers should be able to attack fighters since it would be stupid not to and i'm not bringing a real life example since we know many of them. The game was horrible! It was an exact Star Wars copy of Age of Empires!! I hated it! But back to the fighter/bomber thing: Bombers don't only bomb!
