Matthujun Posted November 29, 2005 Posted November 29, 2005 How would you build your base in a densely poulated area, such as Coruscant, Corellia, Alderan, etc? Do you have a special room for it or is it mixed with the scenery of the skyscrapers? because "base " is more like a small camp in middle of nowhere. Subrurbs aren't nowhere, so i am curious how this would work. And would enemies land on airbase? It would be more tactical though to drop them in other areas, but i know the landing zones are limited, so that kinda needs some clearance. And about the building sceneries, can they get destroyed between a crossfire? It would be interesting to see the palce or the embassy go bang and collapse.
Ghostly_Substance Posted November 29, 2005 Posted November 29, 2005 Set building places, choose wisely since you can build a few buildign types. I'm also guessing you have a set landing place and well Anti-Air can destroy drop ships so bye bye other units. -One Empire falls another riseshttp://myanimelist.net/signature/EuroSubstance.png http://miniprofile.xfire.com/bg/os/type/2/ghostlysubstance.png
Zer_Teron Posted November 29, 2005 Posted November 29, 2005 Urban enviroments would be cool, especially if you could hide in buildings http://img20.imageshack.us/img20/3488/zersigef1.jpg
chewieusma Posted November 29, 2005 Posted November 29, 2005 because "base " is more like a small camp in middle of nowhere. Subrurbs aren't nowhere, so i am curious how this would work. Why couldn't you have a base right in the city? Call it a Forward Operating Base. It's very common in forced occupations to place a strong FOB inside a city in order to discourage the enemy from attacking the city or to allow a quick reaction to anything that may go wrong within the city. It may also help quell any uprising that may occur, provided it is not over run by the rebelling party.
Darth Vader Posted November 30, 2005 Posted November 30, 2005 I'd like also of some urban enviroment.... - I have you now! - Obi-wan never told you what happened to your father... - If you only knew the power of the Dark Side... - Evacuate? In Our Moment of Triumph?*BOOM*"Visit Spriters Resource at their new home!"
CTrooper1 Posted November 30, 2005 Posted November 30, 2005 hmm with a planet like Coruscant i dont think you would be abel to build a "big" base but possibly as someone said construct anti air defences and drop units on the ground produced eaither in space or on anouther planet with a "big" base.
Zer_Teron Posted November 30, 2005 Posted November 30, 2005 Who says you cant build a good base in a city, it would be spread out and the buildings would provide cover for it. And aerial platforms http://img20.imageshack.us/img20/3488/zersigef1.jpg
Nevets Posted November 30, 2005 Posted November 30, 2005 It sounds like they already have set spaces for buildings so on city maps they are probably open lots for them to be placed on. Like the Courscant buildings probably have an area between two other buildings to place a structure. Tho I don't think the "Hutt Palace" would look very good there
Gen.Vader Posted November 30, 2005 Posted November 30, 2005 well maybe the map itself gives alot of builings, some form natural/man made chokepoints, travel and defense posts? theree will be room throughout to city to put in some buildings of your own im sure I've have you now - Lord Vader
Guest Posted December 6, 2005 Posted December 6, 2005 In one of the interviews with one of the devs, they stated that buildings would not be able to build where-ever you want. They would have set spaces for buildings.
Teradyn_pff Posted December 6, 2005 Posted December 6, 2005 That is my understanding too. But I thought that the skirmish maps would be more like traditional RTS where you can build your base and such, but we haven't got to see any of that in any video that I know of. Why would they not show building production? My Death Star is bigger than your Death Star!"The XML is strong with this one!"http://miniprofile.xfire.com/bg/bg/type/0/teradyn.png
