Hey everyone. I'm new to the forum so I just want to say hello and I've got a question about the gameplay in EAW. Now I've looked around the threads and haven't seen this discussed, and while the new FAQ touches on this, I wanted to see what you guys had to say about it. In this game I'm hoping for the ability to conquer the galaxy (using either side) making my own choices and not based on a mission system like traditional RTS games. Am I correct in assuming that that's what the scenario option (mentioned in the the FAQ) will let me do? This is the major reason (besides that it's Star Wars) that I want to get this game since lately I've become increasingly tired of linear mission-based games. Hopefully someone can shed some light on this. Thanks.

Even in the campaign, the galaxy will be largely free-style. The missions are there to advance the story, and it is always to your benefit to win a mission that's offered and gain a reward, but you're never compelled to -do- any of the missions, to my knowledge.

No, Naja, according to the new FAQ, I would say you do have to complete certain missions in the campaign. (Or at least try) The Scenario mode allows more freedom, like the Galactic conquest in SW: Battlefront 2. In the Scenario mode you choose which faction you want to play with and how big the galaxy will be. Then you just duke it out the way you see fit.

Edit: Oh, I almost forgot, welcome to the forums, Grey_Raven, hope you enjoy your stay. I'll be looking forward to more good posts from you. I'd also like to warn you about the strict anti-spam policy in these forums. Spammers get banned easily, but your first post gives me the idea that you're not going to spam, am I right?

I hope they spend more time on scenario then campaign. Campaign you will play once, maybe twice, scenario seems like what most of us will bring us back to keep playing.

Me too. Im worried that there will just be two endings such as the Rebels killing the death star OR the imperials killing Yavin IV. Im hoping it isnt that set, and there can be other endings.

The campaign will end at either the destruction of Yavin IV or the DS. I agree with Nevets and you, the scenarios are what I'm mostly looking forward to.

that's right vader is so evil I liked him from the very first I saw him...but still I'm worried abuot heroes and experience: since they can't be resurrected, will experience make them stronger, or luckier or whatever?

- I have you now!

- Obi-wan never told you what happened to your father...

- If you only knew the power of the Dark Side...

What :?: there is no experience system in the game, and heroes can be resurrected.

i would really like to see Rebels taking over Coruscant in the campaign. I know it's doesn't fit storyline, but it would be pretty cool to see the rebels and the imperials fighting to the last men

You will most likely be able to do that. The campaign isnt a straight path, you decide what to do. So if you have the forces you will be able to attack Coruscant most likely.

I know I will be attacking Corusant. My Rebels armies will conquer and then head straight towards the heart of the Imperials! It will no longer be named Imperial Center, but Bob! Hahahaha!

I bet us they will have a little difference of endings, like instead of that it will be Rebels destroy DS and Imps destroy [planet rebel base is at at the moment]

So what happens in a campaign if you loose a mission? Do you continue playing with a loss or do you have to complete it to advance?

Welcome to the forums if you already have not been welcomed! :D

If you lose, you deal with it. You live to fight another day. You lose if all of the planets are conquered by the opposing side. So a good strategy: don't let them take your planets without a serious fight, and you can retreat, so send in a fast force, do some damage, and then leave! It adds a lot of strategy to the game!

P.S. Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome!

Well, they've said that the campaign will be non-linear, so I don't think you have to complete every mission, if you lose, then you lose, and the campaign goes on. I still doubt that there will be much freedom in the campaign, so that's why (again) I prefer the Scenarios.

Isn't a part of the Star Wars philosophy that heroes cannot return?I think it was clearly stated that they're hard to kill, but if he dies, that's it.

We wish, but it doesn't look that way. Delphi said it would be moddable but at start heros wont die :?

I don't think heroes gain experience. But, who knows. Welcome to the forums, Grey_Raven.

OK, I can't remember if I read something about hyperspace travel somewhere on the boards here, but has anything been released on how hyperspace travel works? Meaning can you only travel from one planet to the next adjacent planet (like checkers, I guess) or would you be able to jump farther to allow for things like hit & fade attacks inside enemy territory?
