Yes its corny but its true since Rebels cant normally pay for their X-wings or produce them at a fast rate to replace them in battle. Matthujun Posted November 27, 2005 Share Posted November 27, 2005 i don't know why, but i just don't like tie fighters, they look ugly. anyways, well, assuming that the skill of the pilots are equal, i think x-wings are still better than tie fighters. they have shield, hyperdrive, 4 laser cannons, while ties are cheap and disposable, so they can only pwn by numbers. Don't forget , most the x-wings/y-wings in the movie during the deathstar destruction was destroyed because they were not defending themselves as much. some were actually shot during the dogfight, but most of them were shot beacuse they had to continue through the trench and focus only the thermal exhaust port, while the ties just had to follow their backs and shoot their arse. And there were numberous ties, while the rebels had only 30 fighters. We see screens of rebel tanks wasting ATATs and star destroyers blowing up by a few corellian corvetts. Now on the new site a group of infrantry wastes a couple ATSTs and not one of the troopers die. It seems that once again the Rebels are overpowered........just like in almost every Star Wars game...... Might I point out that they were flax troopers, they are one of they rebel main anti tank wepons, but it is not unfair as if a bunch of stormies show up those flaxs will get the wipping of a life time. Anyway its not always true, a Sabot round which is the armor penetrating shell for a tank is almost useless against infantry... Simply because a Sabot round has no explosive force, its basically a giant metal dart, against infantry at most you'll kill all the guys standing one in front of another which simply doesn't happen in combat. A person with 5 well thought out posts is more respected thn one with 100 spam posts. The ranking system doesn't account for much really other than to show how active you've been on the forum. On topic, no I don't believe the rebels are overpowered or will be. The whole preimise of RTS games is that all sides have an equal opportunity to win, and it's the actions of the individual that make the battles. I sincerely doubt they will end up overpowered, but if that turns out to be the case, game patches will no doubt be released to counter it.
