Will ships repair instantly after battle?

I don't know if this has been finalized yet but did Petroglyph ever finalize whether ships will instantly fully repair after a battle or if they will have to repair it alla Rebellion style?

In Rebellion it could take a long time for a ship to repair if it suffered serious damage in a battle. For the rebels this might be a worthwhile and cheaper tactic than to be forced to either destroy the enemy or leave them alone.

Very good question, If I remember correctly, they said that units will heal over time when they are in galactic mode...I think I saw a answer like that, but to this point who knows?

Hopefully the capital ships will repair on their own, to a certain degree, the crew will be able to fix certain systems, but a shipyard will be needed to repair damage to the hull/superstructure.

Fighters should be able to be repaired in their motherships (all cap ships cabale of carrying fighters MUST have a way to maintain them, afterall) but unless they have an astromech droid, they should be unable to repair their damage in space (this could give the rebels a much needed boost in quality to deal with the empires numbers)

EDIT: Sparky, really? got a link i don't think i've read that before.

okay, i find that absurd!

and now why

if you sent your whole fleet to battle your opponent and they barely had any life left, like down to thier 5% mark after the battle, then BOOM insta repair, that would just be ridiculous!

they could repair at a local shipyard, or extremely slow self heal, anything else seems, well cheap

Couldn't agree more, sounds like a cheap way to get around coding in shipyard repairs to me... :(

Same here, but I think Sparky is right, its in one of the videos. They should be able to repair hard points indervidualy during battle, but not the hull.

Evacuate, in our moment of triumph. I think you overestimate their chances. :)

ya, an instent repare after battle would take away the stratigy part of the game.

All you have to do is build a fleet od ISDs and VSDs and launch an attack on the enemy (and i mean a big fleet 100+ or max per map) and just push your way through the enemy and never loss.

isn't there an instant repair after every battle in every other game?

in linear RTS games that go map by map you never had the same units in any two missions. In games where you did, like Homeworld, there was a huge amount of "time" between jumps and theoretically ships could be repaired during that time.

In a game like this it's much more realistic to have to repair your ships. Rome Total war had a version of this where even if you won a lot of battles and kept your companies intact you may have lost a lot of men in the companies and although it's still a unit it's damaged and should be repaired.

I hope they coded repair there was no reason not to.

I liked how they did it in Rebellion, very slow regular repair but if you get it around a shipyard repairs faster. More shipyards the better, and if you lost its Hyperdrive then you had to wait a long time till you get your piece of scrap fixed.

This is how i hope it works.

And yes I have played AOE 1-3 and your units dont instently repare, like Deadeye said, you never have the same units, you would start with those units weather you ended the last mission with only a hero or with as many men as you could fit on the map.

On their own? Nice so its actually in inside job then since Engineers get to work :)

Well then so somebody can just put them on the side of the map then bring them back later into battle :o

galactic mode?

Yes, there are three layers to the game:

Galactic: You build your fleets and ground forces; move your armies into tactical position. It's kind of like risk.

Space Tactical: RTS type combat set in space mode. This is usually the first layer you must take before capturing an enemy occupied planet.

Land Tactical: RTS type combat on the ground (most familiar to strategy players).
