Think of it as a hero. Can you sell heroes? NO.

I figure since it's such an important part of the storyline, scapping it seems a bit pointless. If you've got nothing else other than the DS left to scap then you're probably already fighting a lost battle.

If you are strapped for cash, then the DS would be the first thing you would scrap. We dont know if there are maintenance points though like in rebellion, so it may be necessary to get rid of some units rather than lose them to maintenance.

If your fighting a lost battle, you need to do something drastic, like selling your DS. I am sure you could get a lot of money for it to help reinforce your fleet and maybe turn the tide of battle.

If you can scrap your ships, I would like it if they did it the way that Star Trek Armada II did it. You had to take your ship back to a shipyard and it took a while to dismantle it. I think about 25% as long as it took to make it would be a good number as well as tying up the shipyard until it is done. It should not be an instant money thing.

Im confused a buch of people think its going to be a pian in the arse when you play as the empire because of all the planets.. so why not use the DS to thin out the population.....
Good idea. But there is a size of galaxy mode to do that for you.

Why sell it? Why not send it on a noble Crusade and either blow up some planets, send it as a distraction, act like you're going to blow up all of their planets(bluff), blow up some capital ships (if you can), slaughter countless numbers of Rebel fighters that are trying to get past lots of Lancer Frigates and the like to get to the Death Star.

I'm even going to be the Rebels, and I can come up with a lot of fun uses for the Death Star. I MAKE TACTICS FUN! Yay!

You can't destroy your own planet. Why would you want to destroy the planet if you could get a bunch of money from it anyway?

you guys miss my point......THIS ISNT A DS THREAD!!!! it was just an example, i have said so from the first post, im just curious about the sell feature in the game, if it is in, and if it is going to be anything like in the C&C series, would it just sell on the spot? or have a cool unique animation and other selling ideas too.....

if its small enough watch it return to the planet at half price so you can get other kind of upgrades your waiting for  If its big maybe have it dock in a shipyard or if its huge have it sold piece by piece and buy something else.

lets not get into percents here, we dont know if this is in or not and we just dont have enough info, this is just hypothetical and wishful thinking that i hope is implemented, because westwood had a good idea with thier sell button in C&C

or what they could do is if they were by a sun, first the ship would go to a nearby planet, have everything valuable/useful taken away, and throw the unusable stuff in the nearby star..that would be a pretty sweet animation

If you are allowed to sell/scrap a unit, it would be done out of combat, just as building units is done out of combat.
