PattyWhack7009 Posted October 22, 2005 Posted October 22, 2005 Well if you ever read the star wars books with Admiral Thrawn and the years after "return of the jedi" you might get a good idea of how to beat the rebels..Even though the book is completly opposite than the settings in this game, were the impire is offensive and rebels are ofensive/defensive, the book shows you how to start with little and end with tons of troops, ships, and supplies. So read the book,Star Wars: Heir To The Empire Its great book and it has TONS AND TONS of strategy in the book...trust me, if u want to be a great Imperial gerneral in EAW, read all three sequal books or atleast the 1st two in the series. The guy has alot of detail on how to counter attack, stop rebels from retreatin, all kinds of crap, even ground battle..How to properly use a AT-AT. So ima read it b4 the game comes out and i hope u do to to get better and to get a grasp of what u need to do to be victorious. http://img315.imageshack.us/img315/6577/patty6zr.gifhttp://img326.imageshack.us/img326/2111/sf1cl.gif
Ghostly_Substance Posted October 22, 2005 Posted October 22, 2005 Interesting, well it depends what the AI does and what you do since not everthing can go picture perfect. Well if the AI is cowardly at the start there you go and if you make one mistake its all over. -One Empire falls another riseshttp://myanimelist.net/signature/EuroSubstance.png http://miniprofile.xfire.com/bg/os/type/2/ghostlysubstance.png
Dorkthehunter Posted October 22, 2005 Posted October 22, 2005 Also read the Hand of Trawn duology. It also includes Grand Admiral Thrawn (kind of) and has some good strategies. PattyWhack7009 Posted October 22, 2005 Author Posted October 22, 2005 we;; uther than that... I would have a fleet of about 3 star destroyers and some smaller support ships with many fighters. http://img315.imageshack.us/img315/6577/patty6zr.gifhttp://img326.imageshack.us/img326/2111/sf1cl.gif
Popcorn2008 Posted October 22, 2005 Posted October 22, 2005 lol Its Empire not impire. And I do like the Thrawn Trilogy, Timothy Zahn is truly one of the best Star Wars authors ever. http://img525.imageshack.us/img525/3269/pffuserbar2globalmodnx9.jpg> Petroglyph Forums Moderator> LucasForums Moderator

Foshjedi2004 Posted October 23, 2005 Posted October 23, 2005 Thrawn initially uses a fleet of just the Chimaera but then he has the Stormhawk, Judicator, Iron Hand, Peremptory, Relentless, Bellicose, Death's Hand, Umm have I forgotten any Impstars?, and loads of other support vessels in his core fleet. Triangular formation. It can really do some damage. http://i199.photobucket.com/albums/aa197/knivesdamaster/tags/sith_omguserbar_member.jpg
PattyWhack7009 Posted October 23, 2005 Author Posted October 23, 2005 yes i agree...I love Impstars. http://img315.imageshack.us/img315/6577/patty6zr.gifhttp://img326.imageshack.us/img326/2111/sf1cl.gif
Foshjedi2004 Posted October 23, 2005 Posted October 23, 2005 I admire their abilities. I don't actually like them though. http://i199.photobucket.com/albums/aa197/knivesdamaster/tags/sith_omguserbar_member.jpg
PattyWhack7009 Posted October 23, 2005 Author Posted October 23, 2005 y not...if it wasnt for luke..the rebels would have got owned..I cant see a full stack f imstars and support ships goin up against a full stack of the best of the rebels..The Empire will win..idn what the rebels have better, except fighter..there good for rebels.. i guess im ganna be the only one playin with the empire. http://img315.imageshack.us/img315/6577/patty6zr.gifhttp://img326.imageshack.us/img326/2111/sf1cl.gif
Foshjedi2004 Posted October 23, 2005 Posted October 23, 2005 The Rebels were fighting for a cause so they were a lot tougher than the conscripted Imperials http://i199.photobucket.com/albums/aa197/knivesdamaster/tags/sith_omguserbar_member.jpg
PattyWhack7009 Posted October 23, 2005 Author Posted October 23, 2005 wha? just cause the rebels "fought for a cause" doesnt mean there better. rebels dont have At-AT, rebels dont have massive owning SUPER STAR DESTROYERS, rebel dont have the Dark side..I dont get it..rebels have good fighters ill admit..but storm troopers own, and if it wasnt for luke and the lil ewaks, the empire would have owned...Its a story, the good guys always win. http://img315.imageshack.us/img315/6577/patty6zr.gifhttp://img326.imageshack.us/img326/2111/sf1cl.gif
Ghostly_Substance Posted October 23, 2005 Posted October 23, 2005 Well from what I heard so far from Fosh the Rebels also had couple Imperial weapons such as 1 or 2 Imperial Star Destroyers of some sort because Imperials lost the morale for fighting and joined Rebels. Well Rebels also had stealth and more heroes on their side so they had an advantage there, poor Chewie. -One Empire falls another riseshttp://myanimelist.net/signature/EuroSubstance.png http://miniprofile.xfire.com/bg/os/type/2/ghostlysubstance.png
Lytyr Posted October 23, 2005 Posted October 23, 2005 It just means the Rebels had more fighting spirit. Anyway, I too love those books - I own them, and am currently on Dark Force Rising for the third time (go Zahn go!). Thrawn is a genius, frankly - I'd love to have that kind of tactical mettle. However, I'm afraid that his victoy is not only due to on-the-field skill, but also to his recovery of Mount Tantiss (containing cloning cylinders and a cloaking device), as well as Joruus C'baoth to coordinate and improve his fleets - and, of course, the Katana fleet. Assuming those 3 factors were in-game and siezable (in fact, exit Joruus, he wasn't all that useful anyway and was a pain), then a player reading Thrawn-related novels would have some better Star Wars military theory behind him then the average Joe. Not to mention Thrawn's trick at Sluis Van was awesome, I never would have thought of that (as much as I like Lando - damn him! lol). On the other hand, I'm not sure whether EaW will offer such tactical depths. It's sure to be great, but whether it will be THAT great... we'll see. Currently waiting to get Age of Empires 3, Dawn of War, and Star Wars: Empire at War

Gen.Vader Posted October 23, 2005 Posted October 23, 2005 did thrawn retrofit or change the dreadnaughts? since 200 dreadnaughts isnt that impressive, thier description is like they are ancient pre OT ships that are fuel hoggers and poorly fitted for combat. how did thrawn change them into a force fit enough to send the rebels running? I've have you now - Lord Vader

Darkmark Posted October 24, 2005 Posted October 24, 2005 It all depends whether I can get 'Darkmark' before those other wannabies nick my name... If they do you may face the wrath of Griphyne instead. Might have to make myself captain or commander or something as well... Either way, your bases will be mine.
