Darkmark Posted October 16, 2005 Posted October 16, 2005 Could you not just make the conditions for the petroglyph original ships much more obscure than the traditional ships in the trilogy? For example mod in an obscure, backwater planet or two which have to be held to build those original petro ships. Surely this way you can get them, it's just unlikely unless you're going for a full universal conquest or going for them specifically over the more traditional units. I would hate to lose good models for a game when it's possible to have them in in a more minor role. Makwu Posted October 16, 2005 Posted October 16, 2005 correct unless Petro does what Dawn of War did and have a mod switcher which automatically activates a mod/deactivates it whenever you want. Yet another great feature of Myth that was released in 99 but was lost until the last year or two
Naja Posted October 16, 2005 Posted October 16, 2005 Wow, that would be most appreciated, Juggernaught. I wonder how difficult it's going to be to create the Executor.
JanGaarni Posted October 16, 2005 Posted October 16, 2005 I think for the Executor model you almost just have to scale it down. I mean, at 11 times the lenght of an ISD, this would become a huge ship, perhaps so huge that it would cover the entire battlefield in space. If this is the case, we should ask ourselfs, do we really need it to be to scale? http://www.lfnetwork.com/images/lfnlinker.gifStar Wars: Empire at War.Net Moderator&SWGalaxies Moderator Co-Leader of The Affiliates! -A-- What we do in life, echoes in eternity!- May the pants be with you!
Makwu Posted October 16, 2005 Posted October 16, 2005 Well some of those stations are huge. At least 11 times the size of the ISD's. So i think the engine can actually handle the SSD at the correct scaling. And without question at 1/2 normal size.
Dorkthehunter Posted October 16, 2005 Posted October 16, 2005 Won't have so many different mods screw up multiplayer? You can't play if another player has more or less mods or patches than you do. Juggernaut1985 Posted October 16, 2005 Posted October 16, 2005 Well since most likely only 1 mod can be used at a time, it won't **** multiplayer, you'll just need to find someone with the same mod.
Naja Posted October 16, 2005 Posted October 16, 2005 Judging how much of a landmark game this is going to be (I can only imagine the hysteria EaW is going to arouse in casual gamers once they actually become aware of it), I have no doubt that you'll be able to find X billion people who have your same mod.
Foshjedi2004 Posted October 17, 2005 Posted October 17, 2005 I would actually be joyfull if our Mod was that popular. With so many ships to be included surely other moddlers will construct stuff like Star Trek and Babylon-5 Conversions. http://i199.photobucket.com/albums/aa197/knivesdamaster/tags/sith_omguserbar_member.jpg

Teradyn_pff Posted October 17, 2005 Posted October 17, 2005 Maybe the forum moderators have had bad experiences with that particular hardware? My Death Star is bigger than your Death Star!"The XML is strong with this one!"http://miniprofile.xfire.com/bg/bg/type/0/teradyn.png
JanGaarni Posted October 17, 2005 Posted October 17, 2005 Yeah, screws can be a pain in the ass. sorry, couldn't resist. http://www.lfnetwork.com/images/lfnlinker.gifStar Wars: Empire at War.Net Moderator&SWGalaxies Moderator Co-Leader of The Affiliates! -A-- What we do in life, echoes in eternity!- May the pants be with you!
Darkmark Posted October 17, 2005 Posted October 17, 2005 nice one guys. Occasionally the words can look a little worse than they actually are. It all depends on the context though. For example: "I put my screw in a box of screws." I probably just breached some kind of forum guideline with that statement/example, but it can't really be too bad. It's a context thing. I think it's more to do with the forumer hosting, and their choice of censored words for this particular instance. I doubt Cain or Ismael would have chosen to censor it, but to be fair the automated censors are there for a reason. Prevention better than cure kind of thing. Ok... time to move back on topic methinks... Naja Posted October 17, 2005 Posted October 17, 2005 If you're indeed going to do this revamped Original Trilogy mod for EaW, you'll need a name, and you should probably get a topic stickied in this forum. All in due time, of course.
Teradyn_pff Posted October 21, 2005 Posted October 21, 2005 The Legacy of War mod should be modular enough to include certain segments. At least that is what I hope it will be. I am not to sure that the Yug... something Von era is something I want to mess with too much, but I am sure I want the OT era stuff in and some of the relevant EU stuff during that time too.
