in the trailer those rebel tank things http://www.gamespot.com/pc/strategy/starwarsrts/screens.html?page=37 ( bottom corner of the screen firing at the building that i think is that command centre.)

i think that these can have there fire adapted because in the trailer 2 on Gamespot if u look you can see if firing flames not slug rounds as i thought that they did.

has anyone else noticed this?

 

the tactics available from this if it is are unending because you can use the same tank type but different weapons and weaknesses/

what im saying is that theree are many tactical advantages of this tank to the REbels if the guns are interchangable for example its the same style tank but has different weapon like one has a laser cannon for taking out the Starfighters while the other has a protable proton torpedo laucher for taking out vehicles and the other has a flamer for taking out stormies but as Jmaster says you can just run the over as he thinks he can see. the taqctics available from this are endless as it can then be adapted for base defense or attacking the enemy.

Nice! Finaly, realism!

 

I imagine they also run over your own troops if you're not careful, though, right? Infantry would then be programmed to move out of the way, one would hope.

It'd be nice as a formation u could line up the tanks, and just plow through infintry formations, then use onboard weapons to kill other tanks/AT-AT/ST's

-You seem to have an over developed sence of vengeance. It's going to get you into trouble some day.

Then many people would argue that troops are almost useless because a vehicle can run them down. Rocket troops may be some use, but this will add strategic depth by forcing the players to put infantry out of harms way.

I think at the begining of the game you will have limited technology. Rebs especially, I am assuming that you will be offered light tanks to start. Infantry will be well needed in the start due to lack of stronger units. Infantry is usually use in support of tanks to take out other infantry that is a threat eg: rocket equiped infantry. This gives time for your tanks to take out other tanks instead of taking out infantry. Researching modern day tactics can give you an idea on what to use. I'am a big fan of old civilizations, the Romans basically were the first to use these tactics. Some of the tactics they used are still being taught in todays military schools.

i think that your right and there are some games that allows the use of vehicles to run over troops your own included but this is a rare feature on some games as your own infantry avoid the tanks and other vehicles line of moving.
