The Relentless Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 They just don't seem to be important enough EU wise, the same seems true of Xizor and Black Sun. Even Dash isn't too important to be honest... To my knowledge the whole Shadows of the Empire-game is "real" Star Wars. Am I wrong? If I'm right, then Xizor is important for creating all that fuzz in both factions of the Galactic Civil War, and Dash is important for getting the plans of the second DS. Why wont those Pexgames-sites open for me? Is it because I'm in Finland? Annoying anyway. Go Leafs go!
Nevets Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 Hi guys, I'm new to this forum. But, I was curious as to why Dash Rendar or Prince Xizor hasn't been seen. As far as I'm aware, Shadows of the Empire is the only Star Wars canon that is not part of the films. With that said, Black Sun as NPC third party?? Also, I'd prefer Piett to Ozzel. I don't think Shadows of the Empire is on the same level as the films but is still pretty high canon. I would have to guess that the highest level of canon next to the films would probably be the "clone wars" cartoons. This is because George Lucas was directly involved and builds up directly to EPIII and has things in the movie that you would need to see the cartoon to understand (ie why grevious was coughing in the movie, which was because he is force choked by windu). Since Lucas is planning on redoing the cartoons as longer, 3d animation I think this canon will be expanded. anyway back to the point, if Kyle is in I think it is a good bet that Dash will be in. Plus he has his own ship which allows him to participate on land and in space.

As far as I'm aware, Shadows of the Empire is the only Star Wars canon that is not part of the films. Incorrect on the Shadows of the Empire being the only thing that is canon. The Dark Horse comics, the Star Wars books, the Clone Wars series, games and many others are considered canon because Lucasfilms says that they are canon. -Many that live deserve death. Darkmark Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 To my knowledge the whole Shadows of the Empire-game is "real" Star Wars. Am I wrong? If I'm right, then Xizor is important for creating all that fuzz in both factions of the Galactic Civil War, and Dash is important for getting the plans of the second DS. Like I tried to point out, the star of the game - Dash, Kyle - has more importance than the enemies in either of their cases. That's why I believe the enemies in the JK series are just as unlikely to be in there as those in SOTE. To have them seems somewhat redundant, and though may appear to balance things hero amount wise isn't really a help to the overall game. Bear in mind we aren't playing out the JK or SOTE game here for RTS, we're playing out a three film history. They're likely to touch upon the games (having Kyle as a hero for example), but not going to include all of it, there's just too much. Dash may make it, and like I said, I would have no problem if he did. After all, like you point out, Dash does impact the storyline of the trilogy. But still, in my eyes Kyle has always been more prominent in the SW storyworld than Dash. At the time I didn't even see Kyle making his way into the game . Plus he has his own ship which allows him to participate on land and in space. Dash's ship was called the 'Outrider' if I recall correctly. One damn fine piece of machinery. Much more stylish than Kyle's 'Mouldy Crow'. Gen.Vader Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 hey hey, moldy crow can hold its on in battle, you have to be a MAN in order to name it a MOLDY crow instead of daark crow, or heroic crow.kyle pwns dash anyday! hes a jedi for friggin sake! (dont know if das\h is never pplayed SOTE) I've have you now - Lord Vader
Darkmark Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 Dash was like the alliance's equivilent to the way Boba Fett was to the Imperials (correct me if I'm wrong, but that's the way I always considered him). He's a mercenary chappie. I hear Kyle's ship was originally just called the Crow. Seemed Jan spilt some Pepsi down behind the pilots seat... next thing you know, fungi everywhere, like you wouldn't believe... I believe Kyle's exact words were: "What the? It... it looks like Dagobah threw up in there" "And the moral of the story is: Appreciate what you've got, because basically; I'm fantastic." ~ Holly, Red Dwarfhttp://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y143/Lord_Darkmark/Forcedbanner01.jpghttp://www.starwarsforced.co.uk
plokoon9619 Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 Dash and Kyle are the equivalent of each other. Why you think their books became games?

Teradyn_pff Posted September 7, 2005 Posted September 7, 2005 They both on the same side, right? So what the < or > comparisons for? The question is is Boba Fet > Dash or not? I know he is < Kyle because Kyle wooped him in combat. JA ref. My Death Star is bigger than your Death Star!"The XML is strong with this one!"http://miniprofile.xfire.com/bg/bg/type/0/teradyn.png

Mistrider Posted September 7, 2005 Posted September 7, 2005 correct if I'm wrong, but i was under the impression that the starwars books and most comics(the old tales of the sith are now canon because of KotOR) are NOT canon, with a few exceptions(the aforementioned TotS and the Zahn books). I was under the impression that the only deal between LEC and the publishing companies was that they could use the Star Wars properties. None of it is canon except the VERY good stuff which George says, "ok...that rocks...make it true." The games are all cannon because they have to get LEC approval on anything that goes into them(SotE is canon because of the game, not the book) and the cartoons like Droids and Clone Wars are canon because Lucas himself proposed them. And when he reaches Heaven,To St. Peter he will tell,"Just another soldier reporting Sir,I've served my time in Hell."
Darkmark Posted September 7, 2005 Posted September 7, 2005 Dash I could live with, he had a cool ship (Which I believe got snuck in to one of the redone films. I may be wrong about this). Ok, the chances of Dash being in just went up a little as far as I'm concerned. Seems I wasn't wrong, it was in one of the redone films according to the SW databank. I knew I'd heard or seen it before. As we know; stuff in the films = more likely to get in than stuff that's not. http://www.starwars.com/databank/starship/outrider/ Also I'm sorry, I didn't mean to whip up a < > arguement over who is better than who between Kyle, Dash and Boba. All I meant was they share similar professions and Boba acts for the Empire as Dash does for the Rebels. Kyle I always saw of a less mercenary-ish Dash. I don't know if it is "official" or anything but I know most people work on different levels of canon. And no I don't think video games are automatically canon, they have to go through the same approval process as the books if not a little less and its hard to have KOTOR as all canon because of the multiple story lines it presents. Sure there was a darth revan and a sith war but there can't be a difinite story line, because either revan ended up light or dark again. anyway my level of canon go something like this: MoviesClone Wars CartoonsPrequel books/SotE/ThrawnOther booksVideo Games/Comic books/Ewok moviesEwok cartoon/ Droids

Hmm you know something interesting I saw the last time I watched RotS was that when Anakin first sits down on the Jedi council, in the background with all the flying ships you can see a ship that looks like the Endar Spire from KOTOR. (atleast as I remember it lol)
Dorkthehunter Posted September 16, 2005 Posted September 16, 2005 I love Dash Rendar! The disruptor pistol is awesome! Even though it won't be in EAW. *sigh* I like Katarn too...I have a brilliant solution! Why don't they both be in there? Protecting the world from those who have an IQ higher than 30! Huzzah!
