SP has a place and so does MP. For me, if an RTS overdoes it with the RPG elements it fails because gameplay is shot to hell by the the RPG aspects. If you don't include any it becomes tedious and as if RPG games have never advanced. In that way Swiftdraw, you're set on the old style, when multiplayer games had SPs which were secondary.

Nowadays if you buy a RTS game, you expect RPG elements, but with as little impact on gameplay is possible. SPs are built in mind just as much (if not more) then multiplayer. I for one don't mind the way they're headed. I like the ability for units to have names, and to feel connected with the troops I have. I like a variety of mission for single player. I'm less likely to leave a game that has these creative RPG elements than one where all units look the same and are in effect 'faceless' canon fodder.

Well the RTS i'm talking about making is Earth map and space map and earth as water so there'll be water battles.

The only RTS that capture me nowdays is the ones that suit my needs.

-Rome Total War -no population limit, go anywhere at anytime

-Homeworld 2 - Good looking ships and nicely done missions with spacebattles

-Codename: Panzer Phase one and two (I didn't buy it tho) - Got to love those extra features of vehicles with headlights and going into buildings. Dont forget capturing enemy units vehicles.

-Battlegrounds: It had its moments and I loved creating a army and building bases or tried to. Was fun :)

- EAW - Its at last a Galaxy and not just a solar system. And its also a very nicely done RTS :D

- Civilization 3 & 4 - I love building nations but hate the backstabbing AI :? I like building boats and units but hate the Turn-based crap which Rome does better.

For RTS games I play mostly Rome: Total War, Homeworld2: Warlords, Star Wars Rebellion, Close Combat III, and Operation Flashpoint (Squad level command, but hey it requires some thinking).

Didn't I admitt to that already?

You did. My sentence originally went along the lines of calling you an RTS dinosaur, but I felt that was unfair and not necessarily true, so it just became that sentence instead, despite you already saying that.
